Back in the 1970's my parents owned 3 Corning electric coffee makers ( one for the lake cottage and two for home) . Every night Mom would set it up so all Dad had to do in the morning is plug it in while he showered and dressed (he worked for Corning Glass). By the time he was done getting ready so was the coffee. They made a great brew.

Boy she don't know how to use that percolator! The cover does not twist off you pull it back or side ways and the percolator basket and basket cover latch on to the little hook on the heating element! I've been using that same model corning ware perk since 1973and it still works to this day with no problems!!!!!

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't sure if mine was working right. I bought it recently off ebay. I've had stovetop percolators but never an electric one. My electric percolator seemed to perk slow and not actively compared to the stove top ones but after seeing this video I guess its just how it works. Thanks so much for sharing the whole perking process also. Now I know the length of time mine is perking, same as the video, is correct also.

I have a stove top corning ware 9 cup percolator. My mother got it for me at the antique store. makes awesome coffee. in my opinion, the corning ware pots make a smoother tasting coffee. I use my Hamilton Beach electric to save time during the week to save time.

I think the reason the taste is so good (better than drip) is because it perks so long and grabs every bit of flavor out of the coffee - any brand.

Why didn't you stop filming while it was perking

When the redlight comes on it stops percing, and just keeps the coffee warm. No need to revome the basket assembly before pouring the coffee.

Non of you seem to know there is a black stand that sets under the pot that keeps it above the counter. It makes great coffee.

My parents had one like that in the 60s and early 70s, except i believe theirs you had to heat on the stove element.
Never got to taste coffee from the Corning Perc. because my Mom liked Dark Roast coffee.

Do you use regular grind coffee? I LOVE my two Corning Electric pots and always used regular grind from stores made for drip pots - so just learned to grind whole beans in blender and food processor to coarse grind ---- I did another pot - realized I had not let perk long enough

I have one of these, but the cord is lower. I was told these were recalled because the metal around the handles could break and could spill hot coffee all over you. This scared me so I’ve been afraid to use it any more.

Please give info on how long to percolate, if it stops on its own, flavor of coffee and how long coffee tastes fresh under the electric heat if you leave it on. Why not just leave basket in, lid on and pour?

    • @andrewwoody4708
      @andrewwoody4708 5 років тому +3

It has instant shut off. When red light is one it is no longer brewing and will keep coffee warm. Also, yes, you can leave lid on and basket in and pour. As far as freshness in pot it is to taste. It will keep it warm but freshness is, IMO, an opinion. I use a six cup pot and drink it before it has time to cool off.

Consumers owning Corning Ware percolators are advised to stop using them immediately. If such a separation occurs on a coffeemaker containing hot liquid, the consumer can be burned. ... In 1976 Corning recalled approximately 400,000 electromatic percolators manufactured in 1974.

Why didn't you do a time lapse?

    •Compare the taste
    •How many cups?

*Buying coffee filters are an added cost but also can be messy along with taking up storage space. I think the old styles look better. I've bought 3 new coffee makers in 2 years!
I've learned that each are made in China.
1st one just stopped working .
    2nd one leaked.
3rd & most expensive one, it nearly caught my home on fire 🔥! The options had stopped working yet would still drip coffee but had to unplug because it wouldn't shut off & seemingly just kept getting hotter. Finally the control lights would not come on . I smelled something & sure enough it was smoking ! 🔥
I think it's peculiar that each China coffee maker defected just after the time allowed for a return.
Walmart's policies have changed throughout the years to the disadvantage of the consumer. First off , Wal-Mart uses disappearing ink for our receipts! Next, Wal-Mart changes it's inventory though the item is basically the same which makes it seem like anything returned as an old item, wow what a double sided sword ⚔️ because you can never repair China made products due to their intent to have you purchase over & over regardless of any warranty.
    Wal-Mart really should be renamed China-Mart !
😱 Do any of you remember when families could afford vacations & still save for retirement?
The real reason why Americans are becoming deeper in dept is the same reason for our National Dept . Though there are differences, there are patterns if you just look & ignore those who say dept is not a bad thing. If you have something you enjoy and it's going to improve life quality along with having a return for money spent, then go for it & make sure you've done your research right? Not so fast! Traps are made for Americans because we've been the envy. When money is spent in moderation most people do not notice much. The problem is the lack of longevity of your purchases. In the good ole days when there were options concerning the supply chain, we could buy our needs and be done with it. As I said, not so fast! Try buying something not made in China!
Our government is 💯% at fault allong with our rich stock holders. The reason why the rich continue to get richer & poor get poorer is because of the consumer trap that keeps everyone slaving away at insufficient pay to buy China made products that they hold stock in. Yes our elected officials do little to stop it because they too have sold out America years ago. Free trade is bad trade if all it does is transfer our nations wealth abroad by giving benefits to the top richest only !
Wasn't the reasoning that consumers benefit from lower priced Chinese goods? 🐂 💩 !! If you bought a car, it wasn't worth fixing just past it's warranty yet you still owed 💰 on the car, would that wake you up?
It's no different than the tally of junk China made products you've purchased !
    No vaction for you!
    No retirement for you!
No choices for you because China now rules America!
I stopped being a consumer. At first it was a hard habit to break. I would remind myself that buying China made products (especially ones made within the last 20 - 30 years) was funding China's miltary 🪖 💣. I went out into my storage shed & grabbed things my 96 year old grandma had used most of her life . WOW !! They had been made in one of USA's states & still worked !!!!
Our Federal Government raised interest rates which included credit cards 💳. I researched & found a zero rate 15 month transfer offer which also had a $200 bonus after spending $500. My 2003 perfectly fine car needed new breaks & a few things as maintenance. I bought the parts & had a friend do the work for 25% of labor cost at the garage .
I've transferred the remaining balances to cards with the best transfer conditions. My balance had tallied up to apx $36,000 😱.
Each card now has zero interest on balances & I don't charge anything new!
I've sold some things that were beginning to deteriate. * Note 😂 If you haven't used it in the past 10 years get rid of it!
Along with that money & every payment going toward the balances, I've lowered my total dept to about $25,000 in just over a year. I've sold some trees to a lumber 🪵 mill so that's taken my dept to $17,000. I plan to rent out 2 sleeping rooms which will make me dept free in a year.
I refuse to be ignorant or tricked any longer.
I'll have fun looking for items that have a history of lasting just like the one in this video.
The video wasn't great but I believe it is far more powerful than 99% of UA-cam's typical canon ! 😂
I never get a comment or a like on anything I pour my heart into as I suppose that Americans now are brainwashed to dislike harsh truths.
Can any of you just say something, anything please 🥺
    Have a great & hopeful day celebrating July 4th 2024 🎆🎇 !
