Hey mate, it's an internal applicant job only you have to be of a certain rank before applying, there are other aviation roles that can considerably help with selection, like getting into avionics.
Hey mate, I'm sure you have already found out about it. However, this role is incredibly high competitive between already in service personnel remustering and candidates coming from general entry. I have been in the process since November 2022 and only just received an enlistment date. Normally they will only take 1-2 people every 6-12 months and conduct a paperboard for all the current candidates ranking them and taking the top people.
Don't let the competitive nature scare you off though. I'm simply stating the facts and there is a chance you could be one of the most suitable candidates. So if you're looking to apply I say go for it and see what happens.
Im also short sighted and need glasses, i think you can join, however you ALWAYS need your glasses with you and your eyesight needs to be correctable to a somewhat specific rate. however this may be inaccurate as most of the informations i found was about the US navy
Best job I ever had in the Navy! BAC 2/2001.
The Romeo is such a cool aircraft. Saw it up close at Albatross.
Such a great helicopter I saw a flyby at rockingham beach. Close to garden island WA
I would suggest to move this job to direct entry.
It is
Does the Australian army have a job similar to this as I can't find one
How would you go about requesting to do this job at the recruitment stage?

RAN does not have any fixed wing aircaft, however the RAAF does operate the P-8 Poseidon which is a maritime patrol aircraft.
