Expect the unexpected, bring the right gear. Great video Patrik, with lots of very good advice - from checking the forecast to having a backup route to bringing a bilge pump and being prepared for a nice sunny day to turn into a storm. As I said a great video. Also some fantastic footage and photos (love the one with the ice cream) 🍦🍦🍦
@@AirOnTheWater yes mosquitoes can be up bloody menace I picked up a full mosquito jacket for Scotland lol So your back out in the tent again, on some wild adventure I bet.
@@THE-RIVER-RAT Sounds like a good investment! Not all that crazy an adventure this time, it's actually a kind of assignment, in part related to UA-cam, but I'll come back with more info on that later 😎 Thanks for watching!
@@THE-RIVER-RAT So I and a friend, John, were asked to join a canoe training camp / symposium with about 45 participants in another county this weekend. We were in our Itiwit X100+ kayaks for transport, but participants were in canoes. Awesome to get to see and experience the whitewater paddling activities, and of course we joined as well a bit for some fun in the rapids. Really quite an experience! A LOT of film material which will eventually be made into productions from this event for promoting next year's event. We don't have whitewater in Stockholm, so this was big fun.
Good example, there are no tides on lakes and people think they are safe but the water is often cold and shallow, which will result in sudden appearance of short steep waves. Those conditions were manageable provided you were properly prepared (and you were) .
Thanks David - indeed, and there's a huge difference in the water buildup on a small lake compared to this one, with 20 km just across. There have been some accidents here resulting in deaths, and usually those paddlers were much further out from land than I was, where conditions can really escalate quickly. Even if I had chosen the route to be safe here, I still felt this was a good example. Other paddlers on land were even cautioning me to be safe and mentioned those accidents during the paddle.
You know that ITIWIT inflatable 2+1 has a plug on the bottom in one end ? Would that be an intentional scupper hole? or just for on land to get out the water in it? Why are you repeating yourself so much, instead of getting to the subject? It's harder to watch. I barely reached to the half of the movie. I appreciate the fact that you are free speaking, but maybe some materials for audio over might be better written before you record. Think about this.
Thanks for the feedback! I actually paddled in the Itiwit X100+ 2P today. The plug at the bottom on the end is in fact great for draining water after the paddle, but not to be confused with the scupper holes on the side, which are for during the paddle. Your points are well taken regarded the unscripted recording. There's a simple reason for this: I received a lot of feedback and questions on simple photos from this trip, and recorded this in a hurry late in the evening as I knew I was not going to be able to record for quite a few days due to other kayaking-related responsibilities. That was a quick edit as such - creating a full script and setting up the logic of a video and then editing/adding footage often takes more time than one thinks. There will be other videos following with the actual comments recorded during the route, in chronological order.

Thank you George, much appreciated! Greetings from a tent somewhere surrounded by paddlers. And mosquitoes.
