Thanks Nick. It's my favorite too! It's the most comfortable of them to my hands, plays like butter 😊 and its character and strong personality it's really my thing sound wise
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Ares Bowen I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hey! Someone who knows Mtd well! I bought an Mtd Signature 5 second(3rd) hand and I absolutely love it. It looks and sounds really different from the ones you have too. I'm having a bit of trouble identifying the specs on mine though. It's a pre-gibson model, so there aren't any archives as far as I know :S
Hello my friend, and thanks for the comment. I guess what you mean is you have a Tobias Signature 5, not an MTD. Those are great basses too, everything made by the hands of Mike (and Daniel) sounds amazing!
Saludos David!
Love the vid man - I’m in a dilemma myself re MTD. Currently thinking of getting a Z5 and upgrading the pickups the way you did on the AG model. Do you think that’s a good way to and would it sound killer? The stock passive pickups just won’t cut it for me but the bass for 1100 is a good deal to upgrade later to make an equivalent ZX5 for a bit cheaper! I have no idea what to do - any thoughts appreciated. Tim
Hey Charlie, Happy New Year (2021)! Love the video, comparison and your clear dedication to the MTD brand. I play mostly passive Fender/G&L 4-strings but would like to explore active and start incorporating the low B. Really enjoy your funky playing style and purchased some of your original music from iTunes. I aspire to own and play an American made MTD! Norm Stockton plays in our church worship band and rocks his signature bass weekly. Are you also an endorsee? Did you (custom) order from a local dealer or direct? Couple questions, does the purple heart fingerboard on the Andrew Gouche model play like ebony? What are the characteristics in your own opinion? Also love your #2 purple fever bass but notice Michael rarely uses dot markers. I am personally a fan of 70’s style block inlays and generally don’t gravitate towards plain fingerboards-purely from a visual perspective. What are your thoughts? God bless! I’m now a subscriber 🤙🏼 P.s. Great job on the purple color theme-🔥 Last question, have you ever played an MTD 34” scale 5-string? I know he makes them, and might be a better fit for me, but I’m wondering about string tension.
Hello, thanks for the video! Coincidentally, I like them from most to least in the order you give the examples, that is, the first one is the one I like the most and the last one the one I like the least. but they all sound good, I like your way of playing, you have a super refined technique!
Hi my friend and thanks for the comment. I use different settings for each tune or situation in a live performance. I just trust my ears on what the song needs EQ-wise. I tend to go everything flat and then I go tweaking things from there :)
Aloha Charlie you be killin those MTD’s brother! Awesome playing🤙🏾 I just bought a MTD Kingston Super 5 with all the American upgrades from Mike Tobias and can’t wait to play it. While in Hawaii I had 1 535, 1 5 string Grendel, 1 5 string Kingston ZX and 1 Kingston 5 string. I’m planning on getting a Kingston AG like yours and was wondering if I could get the Model of the Pick ups and PreAmp that’s in yours because it sounds DOPE!!! Anyway Mahalo (Thank you in Hawaiian) for the inspiration!!! Aloha🤙🏾
Aloha Rob! Thanks for your kind words. These are the pups and electronics and upgraded my bass with: Bartolini Quad Coil XXP25CX pickups Bartolini HR 5.4AP/918 electronics. Take care and happy
Hi Mauro! Makes me really glad the video helped you. I love Slinkys because they're nickel plated steel, it means you have the brightness of steel with the touch and feel of nickels. I'd love to see and hear your 535 man. Take care and thanks for the comment :)
I love all 3 but I will say the alder body roasted maple fret board (purple dream) has the best overall tone: it’s warm and sits in the mix well but it has a slightly better attack/articulation. They all three have that great MTD tone, which is my favorite tone in the world for bass. The only other ones I like about the same or maybe a very small amount less: F bass and sadowsky metro lines, but they have their own unique branded tones as well, I just prefer the MTD tones
Hola Gustavo, muchas gracias.
@@CharlieMorenoMusic I have the South Korean version of the Kingston model and I really enjoy it! I asked my luthier to add a switch, so I can choose between a Musicman or a Jazz bass ;) Just wow...
- I think the 1st bass sound more fuller.. - 2nd Bass strong bottom n highs, clarity cant beat d 1st bass. - AG bass is OK bass. - The Bass player is awesome!!
@@CharlieMorenoMusic Thanks for the quick response Charlie, I appreciate it. Did the 19mm bridge fit with the old mounting holes? Looks like the 18mm HIpshot has 4 mounting holes like the original bridge while the 19mm bridge has a slightly different pattern. Thanks
I don't remember my luthier man to install a buffer, so I guess he went it straight without one. And I can't check because I ended up selling that bass a year ago
When you installed the Bartolini xxp25 quads on the Gouche 5 did you wire them p reverse p or did you coil tap for (series - single coil - parallel) operation? Thanks
Gracias por el comentario David. Estoy muy contento con el AG5. Para ser un bajo que cuesta 1/4 de lo que cuestan los otros, responde muy bien, sobre todo después del upgrade. Saludos!
This is really cool, great playing. You seem to get some really nice low end - all of the MTDs I’ve played/heard are usually very, very bright. Did you have to dial in the tone very specifically or did you find it came naturally?
Thank you Tom. I dialed the preamp settings I use for each technique on each bass. I like to have plenty of top end and definition on my sound, but I can cut it off on my MTDs pre depending on the situation. One have to be careful with high freqs or the sound can turn unpleasant.
I like the Purple and Maple neck.! This sounds best to me.
That's the cleanest sounding of them 3 😊
All 3 sound great honestly
Thanks for your comment. I believe it too 😊
great playing, they all sound good but I think Purple Dream is my fav!
Thanks Nick. It's my favorite too! It's the most comfortable of them to my hands, plays like butter 😊 and its character and strong personality it's really my thing sound wise
Excellent, groovy playing! Purple Dream’s tone from your play style is killer.
