    Here's how to play Omaha Bomb Pots: You have to realize that every player has 6 combinations of hands; so essentially they're 6 times more likely to "have it" compared to Holdem. So ask yourself these questions:
    1. Do I have THE NUTS?
    2. How likely is my hand to remain THE NUTS?
    3. Can my hand improve to a better hand?
    If you answer no to any of these, you want to be conservative. In the first one, you flopped a straight; but flopped straights are unlikely to remain the best possible hand and you don't even have the best possible straight. You also don't have a re-draw; so just fold this. The second one with A887, you flop A73. While you do have top two pair, it's unlikely to still be the best on the turn. A K,Q,J,10 or 9 could easily give someone a better Aces up; and a 6,5,4 or 2 makes straights possible. A 3 almost certainly gives someone at least trips. While you do river a set of eights, there's a straight and a flush possible. You should not be betting these 8's for value. You opponent is going to go into check-call mode even with a small flush.

    In the first PLO bomb pot u flop the low end of the straight and get raised. Your hand cannot improve so when you get raised it’s a fold on the flop.
    But here is the bigger error…
    When the 6 comes on the turn, he doesn’t even need 63 to beat you. 2/3, 3/4, 3/5, 3/6 or 3/7 all beat you. So that makes it an even easier fold when the 6 hits.

    Even if you didn't have the *direct* odds to call, you definitely had the implied odds.
    Against anything short of a boat, such as AK, KQ, QQ, AA, etc, you had 18% direct equity. But AA, AK and maybe even KQ can definitely call off a medium sized (1/3-1/2 pot) bet on the river if a 9 falls. That's money you'll never put in with a missed draw. Looking at it from that perspective, assuming they call a half pot bet half the time, there's an extra $75 to theoretically be made if you hit, which, you'll never lose if you miss.

    On the PLO hand, when it checks to you, it’s a check. With 4 cards and that wet of a board you definitely aren’t getting called by worse. And you’re giving the other 2 a chance to check raise. But it’s easy to watch a video and say “should have, could have.” But I’m not at the table and sometimes the reads at the table matter more than anything.

    With PLO bomb pots you generally don't want to be betting small except in really unique situations - and you particularly don't want to be betting small when you flop the second nuts. It's true that the frequency of nut hands is much much higher in PLO, but with second nuts vs nuts that's still just a cooler. There's no reason your opponent can't be overvaluing pocket 5s or pocket 4s.

    It's a fold especially because it's a bomb pot. Your continues are mostly sets or re draws to better straights on that rainbow texture. Bet the 2nd best hand for value and fold to the pot sized raise. Especially when you were never drawing to beat 63.

    During the hand at 21:22, since we might have more 6s in our range (not a lot more though) and we also block 86 and 76, could a turn raise and a river overbet/shove be a viable move here?

      On the KQ hand where guy said he had AK, around the 15:25-15:30 mark I don’t think it was a bad play at all. It was a spot where you don’t win unless you bet and the way it played check call, check call and with his bet sizing, I think it was a solid read that if you shove he would fold with straights, flushes, and 2 pair combos and possibly even a set beating him. You easily could have 3 bet 10J suited, I mean from his prospective. As a squeeze. Or AQ. I think him folding there makes a lot of sense to a shove and I might have tried myself.

  • @MaydayAggro
    @MaydayAggro 4 місяці тому

    JJ: I think you properly determined that you need to win about 20% of the time, but this flop has only flush draws available, so I think villain is underbluffing.
    A3xx bomb pot: I'd just fold.
    AA: I'd 3b a bit smaller.
    KQo is fine to 3b vs a BU raise unless you think he's not raising a "normal" BU range. (If you think he's just limping much of his range, then maybe the 3b gets dicey.) I'd consider raising this turn bc villain likely has a weak hand that he doesn't want to play a big pot with. Good play on the end, but I think villain is more likely to call the river bet than a turn x-raise.
    A887 bomb pot: I think the bet on the river is a bad move bc SB can be uncapped here. He checked to the turn bettor, and the 8h is a card that easily hits his range.
    87hh: This is a fine call if you think you can more than 160 on the river when you hit.
    QQ: You're supposed to be betting this turn at least somewhat large. Villain could have been calling flop with a bdfd. You might as well get money from the hands that aren't going to fold to a bet. A x-raise is much stronger and more likely to generate a fold than a cbet, so it doesn't make much sense to me.
    76cc: I ithink villain's smallish river bet is more indicative of value than bluff.
    33: That was a fishy comment on the end. I would have replied with "You didn't have better than KQ? I thought I was bluffing."

  • @mychaelmitchell4632
    @mychaelmitchell4632 4 місяці тому

    King/Queen Off is perfectly fine too 3 bet in small blind with a button open. Actually a little larger us fine but perfectly fine. 3 betting an earlier position is a little less more frequent but it's a definite 3bet. I'd even say 3 betting with KJ suited or A2 suited is a good play in small blind. You're going to show up with such a tight range it doesn't hurt to put some KQ and A2-A5 in the 3 bet range there. Good luck with the 2/5 bud. Getting acclimated and feeling out a bigger blind game is the most important. Don't want to jump in feet first and lose confidence in yourself. Well played for first time. It's not easy moving up!

If you play against a semi-pro, you will get called 9 out of 10 times because your line just doesn't add up. If you plan King of Hearts nut flush blocker bluff, you should start executing Check Raise OTT, shoves OTR. You want the nuts or you want to be drawing to the nuts. play very cautious on calling down. Bluffing can be good if timed right since other players should also be cautious, although in live poker that can be untrue at times.

Do some off the table work (with some poker friends if possible) and write out your thoughts/assumptions on a couple hands then really run down whether the assumptions are completely thought out or if there are holes in the logic or if the logic "keeps going". I think check calling flop is perfectly reasonable however on the turn when he takes this small sizing i think he just has AX and is trying to get to showdown cheaply. Given were blocking the nuts and AQ,QQ, i think just stuffing it in this guys ass will max fold equity and really print long term. I think thats much better than calling.
    Edit* I saw you led the river which is fine just know when you do that thinking players that have a heart blocker will be more inclined to call you down

      you need 2 handheld cards and not just 1 to make that straight in omaha. So it's A3 making a lower straight vs the 63 making a better one.
