    Ed Engle is the real deal. I've fished with him - he's extremely knowledgeable about flies and fly fishing.

    So nice to hear from the creator of the pattern and how he fishes it. Love Ed.

    Good one, I don't know about you but the flies that I tie have on average have gotten smaller and sparser over the years When I started back in 1963. I like quick simple patterns tied with common materials. Every drug store carries dental floss! I am going to have to get his book, to add to my collection.

    Much respect for Ed Engle (own his book), but many better ways to tie the illusion of popping wings in this stage of emergence.

    Just tie a pheasant tail nymph or whatever pattern you like without the bead, then build a bubble using UV resin, looks more natural compared to a bead but both work well.

    not second guessing here but wouldnt this make the fly ride in the water glass bead down or is that a plastic bead that add buoyancy

    • @tightlinevideo
      @tightlinevideo  4 роки тому +1

      My guess is that the fly will hang vertically as almost all nymphs, both weighted and unweighted do. It's the weight of the bend of the hook that causes this. It kind of stinks to picture our beautifully tied nymphs floating down the stream in this orientation, but they do. That said, a Prince Nymph hangs vertically when fished and I can't imagine how many millions of trout that fly has fooled over the years.

      @@tightlinevideo I was just wondering because I watched other videos of people tieing bead to the top of the hook to make a pattern ride like a jig style hook point up now they were using a tungsten bead but I would think this would have the same effect since it would put more weight on that side of the hook but I may be wrong I guess I will have to tie a few and try it out for my self thanks for the reply
