    Personally I clean my microphones by unscrewing the grille, taking out the foam windscreen and putting both in warm water with detergent and leaving them to soak for a while in order to loosen up all the yuk, then I use a toothbrush to clean the entire metal grille and rinse through the foam windscreen under a running tap, then they are both sprayed with Dettol surface cleanser and then dried with kitchen towel and a hairdryer, GUARANTEED! as fresh as a daisy 😊😊

    I bought an sm58 a couple weeks ago for functions and rehearsals where I play bass and sing backing vocals, and so I never again have to smell the death breath of other people. Then just last night, a drunk guy at a wedding thought it was appropriate to take my microphone off the stand and start singing along to Elvis with his mouth all over it. I'm absolutely livid. I'll definitely be cleaning it today.

    Sir I am full beginner. I want to record my written poetry professionally. Suggest me audio interface and dynamic mic. Which gives me professional level quality. Because my room is not sound proof. My total budget is 300 dollars. Tell me such a setup that I will not regret buying.

    How do I clean the SHURE ELVIS MIC BLUE FOAM PART?

  • @shure
    @shure  10 років тому

    bluegrassfan23 Sorry for the delayed response. Did you notice a change since the cleaning? Additionally, are you comparing a Beta 58A with a studio condenser? Condenser mics have a hotter output and more detail than a dynamic mic (like the Beta 58A) will.

    Hi team, Is the foam from the KSM9HS capsule removable? because I cant get it out, certainly not as easily as removing a SM58 foam.

    OK - so I've tried cleaning the Beta 58A voice mics I own - and the output from both of the mics is just "not there" in comparison to some of the other mics I own and use in jams and performance. As a result I must heat up the Shures 58As to be on the same level with others (Proformance and AKG Vienna studio models). Plus the crisp output is just no longer there with my Shures. Any help out there?

    If you really want to get up a mic user stick the stink beetle inside the grill and rattle the mic a few times..... those Aussie stink beetles work the best.

    Spray a rag with Glen 20 and wipe down the mic without disassembly for quick on the run / between bands germ suppression.

    I take the foam out and put the grills in the dishwasher. That way I can do a dozen at a time. It gets rid of lipstick and germs. But, as mentioned by Tim do we just wash and dry the foam?

  • @timkelly8938

    Do you use the diluted detergent solution to clean the foam as well? If so, would that be a soak-rinse-dry process?

    Best way to clean off the sticky gunk from the handle of a mic?

    • @shure
      @shure  6 років тому

      You can try a small amount of rubbing alcohol or product such as GooGone (follow any warnings on the packaging as far as skin irritation or other hazards). Be careful not to introduce any cleaning liquids to electronic parts.

    • @weetzybat
      @weetzybat 5 років тому

      Baking soda with a bit of hot water to make a gritty paste to rub on with a bit of tissue or toilet paper.
      Oh, and avoid goo gone for any purpose..I find the smell tends to cling and linger

    I just flushed the grill a few times with 99% lab alcohol.
