I knew about Sean Kingston, Busta Rhymes, Harry Belafonte, Lennox Lewis,Maya, Biggy’s parents & saw videos of when Biggy went to JA for holidays etc when he was younger. Many of these African-Americans don’t embrace their roots so you’ll never know.
Thats because america instill a mindset of only america counts in your life. And with the downplay of other countries it is stilled in them. Its up to the parents to let them know their roots goes beyond being born in america.

From what I understand, KRS-One’s biological dad is/was from Barbados and his mother is described as American. Being from the Bronx he was heavily influenced by reggae music though. Sheryl Lee Ralph also spent part of her childhood in Jamaica and has a house there. And those photos of the comedian who played David Patterson on SNL and not Patterson himself have me screaming. And the pronunciation of patois. 😂 AFAIK Both of Harry Belafonte’s parents were Jamaican, he even spent his childhood living with his grandmother in Jamaican.

From my reading of history, Jamaica was one of the leading islands that did not want to form a federation back in the 1960's because the leaders felt that the smaller territories would have dragged them down.
