I like that this isn't a military invasion but a (seemingly) peaceful annexation. Makes you wonder how bad the situation must really be in this scenario.
its not gonna be very peaceful when the CIA scouts report Canadian citizens purposefully digging out the roads or canadian army deserters. the military would probably carry out the executions once they catch sight of some citizens running from an freshly destroyed road.
I wonder if the whole “Economic collapse” thing is just propaganda and an excuse by the Americans to: - Con Canadians out of their life savings by only giving 1 USD per 800 CAD, making Canadians have to rely more on the U.S. and possibly generating profits for America - Convince the public that this is not an effort made to gain an advantage on Russia or China, as well as make it seem like a positive change for the country Or even - Dramatize a smaller problem in order to generate hate for the Canadian government It really gets you thinking, especially with how dystopian the U.S. government acts here with assimilation and forced destruction of culture
This basically happened to Newfoundland, they were well on their way to independence in the 20s/30s as a dominion of the UK, but their economy was wrecked in the depression and they were forced by circumstances to rejoin the UK (and eventually Canada)

I like the conversion rate $1 USD to $839 CAD. Since it's $1 to $1.35 right now this indicates a major collapse of the Canadian economy (which would explain their being open to being annexed as a way to resolve issues, assuming the US is very stable and strong in 2039. And given the very independent streak of those in Quebec, only such a major collapse would budge them in such a direction. I’m really interested in what *actually* happened, how do we know that wasn’t American propaganda? The EAS messages act very dystopian, and with all the benefits the states would gain from lying (conning Canadians out of their life savings, gaining support from the uninformed or creating excuses other than to butt heads with China or Russia, etc.), why would they tell the truth?
something tells me that getting rid of the ability for Canadians to own whatever firearm they want to with their license during the 1970s was a really bad idea.
I thought it was the late 80s early 90s that the bans began. Specifically on assault rifles and general automatics due to the Polytechnique shooting in Quebec.
I watched this video when it came out, and I thought, “this is a cool scenario, but I doubt it would ever happen”, yet now it’s almost guaranteed to happen. Alert World is psychic
“Y’all, this term of mine that was won in the recent election was simply God’s plan.” he announces to the crowd at his first speech/“political concert” after renaming the country Drakanada and the province of NB “New Biebers” after his deputy prime minister.
I’m thinking it was propaganda, it provides plenty of benefits to the U.S., such as: - Stealing the life savings of every Canadian through currency conversion, making them rely much more on the U.S. and giving profit for the Americans - Convincing foreign (excluding Canada) and American citizens that this annexation is done for a reason outside of territorial gain, profit, or getting a one-up on Russia or China, creating less resistance internationally and within the U.S. - Making uninformed Canadians have a distaste for their government and an unwillingness to fight, giving them the belief that they are in shambles and will be saved At that point, why tell the truth? The States in this scenario behave extremely like governments in dystopian media do, which is what leads me to believe they also lie for political gain.
@@veeli1106 There is not much deficit spending for that. Our dollar is tied to resources, primarily oil, and can be artificially changed in valuation to meet the needs of import/export demand. If anything, we made cuts to healthcare, and that's on the provinces withholding federal money, not the feds, who are in charge of economic policy (though provinces are in charge of administering it) Typically if we want money coming in, we artificially reduce the dollar amount by a little bit. 75 cents USD = 1 CAD. If we want to export stuff, we'd raise the value of the dollar. That would be closer to 80 to 90 cents, and sometimes go over the value of the USD. The 2008 crisis was a weird time when the American dollar hit a low point to where the Canadian dollar remained relatively stable - though it was valued more. Though that meant Canadians would be traveling more to the US, shopping there as things where generally cheaper for them. This also means less revenues for Canada thanks to a lack of HST/GST. Either way, plenty of countries out there that are developed where currency isn't worth as much as the USD and they do just fine. Japan's Yen for one - Canada arguably may go the same route Japan did with their housing bubble. Dollar valuation isn't really a good sign for economic health.
Putting the memes and jokes on the side for a moment... Canada has: Vast oil reserves. The World's Largest fresh water Supply. A vast amount of Timber. Enormous land mass. The cultures are similar In fact they are the most similar of any two nations and the fact that some provinces like Alberta already want to join the US is fitting. As a Quebecois-Australian who likes to visit Canada a lot, dang. The 4th American war of Independence. Quebec losing its French also sounds horrifying.
I can see a lot of this happening if the U.S. did annex Canada except for the part about banning all French signage and forcing all French speakers to learn English. That’s the only unrealistic part imo
America doesn’t have good history on policy during military occupations. Why do you think Iraq went so bad? They would definitely find a way to piss off Quebec into starting a second insurgency, which might I add is more “left wing” than the rest of Canada. The most unrealistic part is the situation that got us annexed. Although it’s possible, I find it much more likely that the sizeable portion of American right wingers who want to annex us right now gain control of the US government and do it.

"Our dedicated boys keep the peace in newly annexed canada."
What the hell happened to the Canadian dollar? 830 CAD - 1 USD is completely bonkers.
Destroyed economy e/ bad handling of debt
Just the effects of fiscal deficit-spending for “free” healthcare…
I’m thinking it was propaganda, it provides plenty of benefits to the U.S., such as:
- Stealing the life savings of every Canadian through currency conversion, making them rely much more on the U.S. and giving profit for the Americans
- Convincing foreign (excluding Canada) and American citizens that this annexation is done for a reason outside of territorial gain, profit, or getting a one-up on Russia or China, creating less resistance internationally and within the U.S.
- Making uninformed Canadians have a distaste for their government and an unwillingness to fight, giving them the belief that they are in shambles and will be saved
At that point, why tell the truth? The States in this scenario behave extremely like governments in dystopian media do, which is what leads me to believe they also lie for political gain.
@@veeli1106What makes it worse is how inefficient it is.
@@veeli1106 There is not much deficit spending for that. Our dollar is tied to resources, primarily oil, and can be artificially changed in valuation to meet the needs of import/export demand. If anything, we made cuts to healthcare, and that's on the provinces withholding federal money, not the feds, who are in charge of economic policy (though provinces are in charge of administering it)
Typically if we want money coming in, we artificially reduce the dollar amount by a little bit.
Canada has:
Vast oil reserves.
The World's Largest fresh water Supply.
A vast amount of Timber.
Enormous land mass.
Access to the Arctic as well as the northern pass.
The possibility of this happening in the future is not a matter of If.
But When.
The cultures are similar In fact they are the most similar of any two nations and the fact that some provinces like Alberta already want to join the US is fitting. We get all those benefits and they get the benefits of the strongest military in the world, best economy in the world and much more. It’s a win-win I don’t see why they don’t accept it. Lol
@@stargazer-eliteI completely agree and as an American i would love to drive way up north without a passport whenever i want to so really that would be amazing if Canada and America united🇺🇲🇨🇦
If you put the jokes aside, also keep in mind that the USA would never annex the whole of Canada. Russia would have taken the arctic by the time the USA makes it past the south.
@@ۥۥۥٴٴٴٴۥ Russia is slow to move in Ukraine, how are they gonna reach arctic? By the time they get there they would've been met by US military.
@@ChikyuuKun and who's going to stop them? Europe would be assisting Russia in case of American aggression.
