Only way to stop Russia, is for Trump to arrest Putler, lock him in Kiev Prison, and then have him call off the attack, then .exe him once Ukraine has taken back the territories and say Putler fell of the prison into a spike, when trying to escape.
But I know he's not going to do any of that. Because he's working for Russia, and he's a spineless loser who doesn't want to upset the daddy. For whatever reason, he hates Europe, and most of USA. But no, not Russia, at least in front of cameras.
Putin fleeing Moscow during Prighozin's march was hilarious, it really shows who truly cares about their country. None of Putin's fake macho man persona compares to Zelenskyy going to each contested frontline over and over again, and not running away when he was nearly surrounded in Kyiv. That was enough for me to support Ukraine, he simply loves his country in "love"s truest meaning.
Good to see you here bro. I just watched your "have I ever killed anybody" video about your fallen brothers this morning and it was quite moving. Hope you're doing well still! 🙏
Exactly the problem I have with lex, he constantly fights for this nebulous concept of peace, when lack of conflict is not always the best thing. Like would you tell the US to not fight the nazis in the WWII because "war is evil" or some shit?
@@xrphoenix7194This is exactly like the situation before WWII: Putin is doing annexations left and right and useful idiots and paid Russian shills are pleading for appeasment.
Isn't it that case that Russians know their government is shit and hates the Russian people? It's just that a lot of them have heard propaganda for their whole lives about how every other country is shit too, so they just kind of live in indifference.
The comments on the actual Lex video are shockingly hopeful. Mostly praising and sympathizing with Zelenskyy while calling Fridman an ignorant, delusional interviewer.
Random Ukrainian civilian : HELP RUSSIANS ARE BURNING DOWN MY HOUSE WITH MY KIDS INSIDE Lex : Can't you find it in your heart to come together and love each other for peace? WHAT? NO! MY KIDS ARE LITERALLY BEING BURNT ALIVE Lex : its such a shame that Ukrainians can't find it in their heart to strive for peace
@@based4573 So Palestine was considered a sovereign nation acknowledged by every nation like Ukraine was before Russia invaded? Hard to apply the same logic when it breaks down immediately if you know literally the most basic history of the region
Zelenskyy was insanely impressive in this interview. Smart, informed, sharp. It’s so weird being an American and seeing a leader who’s eloquent and intelligent not forcing me to fact check every word out their mouth.
@@lepthymo there's several dubbings, so that, instead of us waiting for minutes on end for the full translation and hearing the translator's voice, we can just hear him say what he's saying. There's also the og audio, where you can hear him speak normally in 3 languages.
He was good but he wasn't so sharp if we'd be honest. He could have focused a bit more on why Ukrainians want the war to continue over surrendering instead of persisting on giving the answer of "Putin = bad", he has every right to do and I don't blame him, but it would be much better in the eyes of most if he was less spiteful. Either way he performed very well given he was flipping around languages, the interview being 3 hours and having lex to ask stupid questions.
It’s actually insane how anyone could be confused as to who is the hero and who is the villain in this situation. Trump gets praised for saying fight after the sniper was taken out (which still was brave), but that event is like a candle in the sun compared to the bravery Zelensky has shown.
@@never_let_this_done9787lex doesn’t buy the bs. He sells it. He’s Russian. He wants Russia to win. He’s not stupid or naive. He’s a knowing propaganda piece.
Zelensky has got to be a top 5 leader of all time. Truly a man who cares and will fight for his people in the face of many trying to convince him it’s pointless.
I love the 5D chess Zelensky is playing, trying to signal to Trump that he views him as a strong man and that a strong man would stand up to Putin. That's his best angle on Trump, make him want to dick outmeasure Putin by helping Ukraine.
We have seen some signs that it is working. Some "unnamed European officials" told the financial times that Trump is obsessed with projecting strength from America. Helping Ukraine better than Biden did is probably the easiest way to do that
Admirable, but foolish. Trump is a fool, who is basically bought & paid for by Russia. He's been a Russian shill since the 80's, when he first ran for president advocating for withdrawal from NATO - and there has been hints for years, tho nothing confirmed, that Russia has kompromat on him (eg. the 'Pee tape' has still not been definitively disproven & might still turn out to be real).
1:31:52 The entire way lex frames his words here is literally blaming Zelensky for the lack of peace, that it is Zelensky and the Ukrainian people's hatred that are the reason why they are dying, and that it is zelensky that needs to put his feelings aside for peace. You know, when Russia is the country that literally invaded. With Russian soldiers on the land of the people he is the president of, that Russia started. So gross.
It's not gross. It's an intentional act of stigmatizaion of the victim, to justify the violence towards one. It's a common fascist trop. You portrait yourself as an advocate for hight moral standards, and portrait your victim as someone whos qualities are under this standards. It's aply that they are less humane that u (but no in a straigthforward way), and so its ok to descriminate or conduct violence towards tham, becouse there is no need to treat them with the same standard you alply towards yourself. The whole interview Lex aply different standards to Russia and Ukraine, while pushing narrative that Ukraine & Zelensky have some worminess that should make Russian actions tolerable - corruption, lack moral qualites for forgivness, refuse to speak language of attacker for a cause of global good, unabilty to provide security guarantees for russia, etc. In short, it's a shift of narretive from discussion of the violations of victim rights, towards the idea that victim may not be actualy worthy of such rights. Fascists force their victims to proove that they worth of being treated same way as agressor. They create a narrative, where you mainly discusse behavior of the victim, and pay less attention to the behavior of the agressor. This cicle is endless, becouse allegations could be done endlessly. Main idea is not to make people belive in such allegations, but normalise the worldview where victim and agreesor treated with differant starndarts. And its trully works. Russian impireal narrative is extremly effective. As example, can you name any war in a history, that was treated with the idea that when someone invade another contry, the entire war should take place on a territory of the contry that was invaded? Noone ever said that befor 2022, becouse its complitly absurde. And "somehowe" it's being a normal narrative for russian invasion... Remember how much talk there is about providing Russia with tolerable conditions for ending the war, to avoid the emergence of revanchism in Russian society. To save putins face, and etc. Have you ever heard such an approach to the Ukrainian side? Such concern for the state of Ukrainian society? Comcern of ukranian revanshism? The world is more concerned about the reaction of the aggressor to the failure to achieve the desired results than the reaction of the victims to the violence committed against them. The kidnapping of more than 50 thousand children from Russia would be considered an escalatory act enough to justify any retaliatory actions, but the kidnapping of more than 50 thousand children from Ukraine is not considered an escalatory act in this war at all. If Russia had kidnapped so many children from any other European country, no one would have called the strikes on military airfields in Russia an even greater escalation. Russia would be bombed harder the Gaza, and noone would even asked the quastion, if that is esalatory action or not. But in relation to Ukraine - 50k kidnapped children is leseer escalation than attack on miliatry airports inside russia. Just a reminder, for west it was okey to strike object in Yemen, after attacks on cargo ships - not kidnaping thousends of their children. In its core - it's nothing more but dehumanisatoin of the victim. But portraited in a way, so audience do not reilise that they start using fascist logic by themself.
It’s almost like someone gave him a large promise or some sort of deal that benefits him to present in a certain light or to imply things are going a certain way I’m wonder who would do that
I used to make fun of Zelensky for being a comedian but he is actually a very good leader and conducted himself impeccably during this interview. He really put Lex in his place and shattered his enlightened centrist thing.
I wouldn't say he's an enlightened centrist type stuff. He's rather a suited up hippie trying to make it all peace & love. However he should heed philosopher Keanu Reeves when he says " if you're a lover you have to be a fighter, Co if you don't fight for your love what kind of love do you have"
Nah, maybe in many-many years, but highly unlikely. Ukrainains have a problem with state authority, the longer you are in power the more you are hated. And Zelensky is not exeption. There is no former president of Ukraine that actually has any love/respect of majority of the country.
It is devastating that someone who fled after the collapse of the USSR to a country that gave him every opportunity to develop to where he is today, is now licking the boots of someone who wants to downgrade Russia back to the USSR.
@@carlod5818 He is pursuing imperialism, but if you told Putin that you thought that he wants to essentially resurrect the USSR he would laugh it off and probably start complaining about how Ukraine is "akshtually a creation by the Soviet Union (insert the nerd-emoji face)", like he has done in the past lol.
Lex has always been a pathetic shill for Russia. He knows his audience is pro Russia and right wing and knows how to make the most money off it, he’s not an honest actor
Yeah, I always thought Lex was pretending he was a bit smarter than he really was, but I didn’t realize he was this clueless at least in foreign policy and geopolitics. This is just stunningly embarrassing for him by any standard other than the ultra modern Twitter, lens of politics.
Lex seemed to be talking for the Russian Side most of the time. Shockingly he doesn’t seem to care about the crimes against humanity that Russia has committed in Ukraine and sweeps it under the rug. He wants Ukraine to capitulate and come to the table with Russia and US for peace. Actual Bad faith actor.
Shocking that zelensky even talks with someone who won't acknowledge that Russian troops are killing Ukrainians inside the Ukrainian borders, on purpose. Like hello, lex, Russian is literally invading, with tanks. How can you not say that Russia needs to immediately withdraw
Lex is in an info bubble where he never has to contend with the limitations of his worldview. Like Trump, Peterson and Musk, any criticism at all makes him to melt down and cry about censorship.
@ I doubt he is in an info bubble. He’s been to Ukraine before while the war was going on not long ago. He has seen all the destruction caused by Russia. He definitely knows about the Bucha massacre and the widespread pillaging by Russian soldiers and human rights violations. He intentionally doesn’t acknowledge it. Bro thinks Putin is a great leader.
@@glara-i4she doesn't live in Russia, and he isn't even ethnic Russian. But even if someone is ethnic Russian, doesn't mean they want to be part of Russian culture. They can be liberal. So it's not hard to imagine ethnic Russian who cares about Ukraine.
Asking Zelinski what he thinks about Trump is like asking a drowning man what he thinks about the only person around that can save him. Da fuq do you think he’s going to say?
Lex's neutrality and abstract philosophical questions didn’t just come off as tone deaf they felt borderline disrespectful given the gravity of the war. Zelensky is fighting for his country's survival, and Lex asking him to reflect on Putin’s "love for his country" was absurd. I get Lex's whole "open dialogue" shtick, but this isn’t a tech podcast. Sometimes neutrality just comes off as ignorance
Well, said I always thought Lex was pretending to be a bit smarter than he really is, but this is just absolutely embarrassing for him. I had no idea with this clueless on foreign policy and even somewhat recent history of Eastern Europe wasn’t his family from that part of the world too this is wild!?
"In Ukrainian, Zelensky said мы били всех по руках, which has the exact opposite meaning of "slap on the wrist" in English. Literally, it translates as "we beat everyone on their hands," as in cracking down to prevent corruption before it could even happen, not to mention punish."
"мы били всех по руках" is a Russian phrase, so Friedman, who is Russian, know the meaning of the phrase and still he translated it wrong. This tells a lot about Lex. Btw, on Ukrainian phrase is "ми били всіх по руках" where "и" reads like "y" and not "i". Pretty similar to Russian, so there is no way Friedman translated it wrong by accident...
Lex needs to publically address this huge ball drop. I don't understand how someone can be that blatantly biased it was pretty wild. Zelensky along with most of Lex' followers lost a lot of respect for him that day.
I don't know if he is Russian or it's because he is friends with a lot of rich Pro-Putin weirdos like Trump, Joe Rogan, and everyone else. He literally doesn't even argue or present anything else other than "wanting peace" to everything he says.
Anybody who still follows Lex Fridman after this is truly lost. They are irredeemable and completely void of brain function. This was possibly the most pitiful performance I've seen from literally any person ever.
100% He needs to take time off. Detox from whatever it is that has altered his mind, and then apologize to the global community. This was just sad and embarrassing for Fridman.
Is no one concerned how Zelinsky had to explain to Lex that Putin is a sociopath in great detail but then Lex ignores it all? He keeps bringing up his"naive dream" of them sitting down for peace talks. He literally told Lex that Putin has a darkness to him lmao!
I respected Zelenskyy before this, but how well spoken and knowledgeable and courageous he comes off here is just next level. You'd be lucky to have a guy like this as your leader, and people like Joe Rogan shit on him whilst also meat riding Trump. It's just insane how uneducated our country is man
That just means you are incredibly naive and gullible. When you know the truth about the war you know he spews a blatant lie after lie. It's actually insane how shamelessly he lies.
1:19:14 I cannot imagine the restraint from Zelensky to not lose his fucking mind in this convo. The idea that it's time to "forgive Putin" after he murdered thousands of Zelensky's people for 3 years in a conflict which didn't need to happen in the first place beyond Putin's aspirations to reunite the Russian Empire is insane. To sit there and listen to this Western hippie tech bro make such demeaning, insensitive comments and suggestions for over two hours is unbelievable.
Yeah, one of the hardest parts of being a decent diplomat or politician is absolutely always being able to think before you speak I have a family member who has a job similar to this, and it always amazes me that even after four or five martinis at some fancy politicalcocktail party, he still always is able to think about everything before he says it I don’t even live in Ukraine, but I have a basic knowledge of European history and I was ready to choke the interviewer out a third of the way into the interview. @@doublestarships646 because replying substantively would 1) require him to acknowledge Russian and Putin's fault and evil 2) destroy all chances of him getting an interview with Putin .
I think Lex likes to play devil's advocate, and ask the questions critics have. I'm sure he'd have pro Ukrainian questions if he were to interview Putin. EDIT: Never mind, watched more of the video.... Yea, he's clearly naively optomistic about Putin...
More pushback in the first 10 minutes than with Trump for the entire glaze session. Insanity. I can’t believe I used to like Lex. He is evil, just can’t decide if he’s a paid shill or just stupid
Greed is the truth killer. I’ve lost count of how many respected professionals shedded their objectivity for MAGA money by playing nice with the diet dictator. You just know after they’ve made their money they will weasel their way back. It’s pathetic
He's not stupid, he is naive. His naivety comes from an overwhelming hope that at the end of the day good will prevail, and that within everyone there is a battle of good and evil and that hopefully that good wins out in everyone. However, being that hopeful when speaking about a despot ordering his countrymen to die for his ambitions is immature. You can't say a dictator loves his people when he orders them to die for an antiquated sense of empire. Lex has a deep cognizant dissonance. He is also bias because he is Russian himself (but ethnically Ukraine) and he hopes Russia can be a better country. Still, his foolish desire to hope Putin will be benevolent and a good actor is completely unproductive.
As a Ukrainian, the funniest thing for me is to hear US alt media call him a drug addict and how much coke he does :) This was a HUGE russian propaganda point, they run it all over Ukraine in 2019 election, even his opponent at that time used it. Back then you could prbly fall for it, he's a famous media person after all, but right now? Feels like those insults are written by 15yo for 15y olds
Responding war is hell in response to the description of blatant and intentional war crimes against children in order to minimize them is like pure evil. Lex thinks might makes right and wants Russia to win.
ever since I've seen the MASH " war isn't hell. war is war" scene - I just can't take the " war is hell" statement seriously. it's merely a phrase to disengage with the atrocities that are happening to innocent people in war.
@@Rudi_Mentaireyou miss the connection with a warring society that will continually put people in war situations until we drive ourselves to extinction. That is hell, to have the knowledge to prevent it, but to fall into the pattern. Then it can all repeat again, as another time/place, ppl will fall into the same cycle after insisting it is in their own nature - without seeing the irony how believing that idea is what creates this hell. Without a real hell, a society that just keeps thrusting itself into war is going to be the closest thing. We will then just constantly wake up and be more and more likely to wake to war, as we only create more oscilations, more universes, new possibilities, and potential for there to be war in the continuum of experience - a slice of hell we will have fascilitated, whether bc apathy or misaction. Consumerism and profit maximization only make resources more scarce, and scarcity is the primary driver of wars... War can be averted once we create a society driven by cooperation - not competition. A society driven by competition is only going to exacerbate conflicts. The "war is hell" quote serves not to gloss atrocities: but to accurately depict that a warring culture, in reality, creates the closest thing to hell - eternal war. If it leads to extinction, then it's going to be long timelines of survival to get back to the same point, and if ppl keep falling to the same poor logic, then it will just be a repeating cycle. As we let this cycle go on, this ultracompetition on a cosmic scale will only more likely lead to worse versions: like something out of sci-fi, living 1,000 years, or more, as a genetically engineered soldier of war. That's hell - for sure. The only hell worse than our own creation, is our imagination of a place of eternal suffering - I suppose just to feel a sense of justice for those who do atrocities: but the real atrocity is that we aren't told we live in a continuum (absolute nothingness does not exist), which means the perpetuating of wars creates many hells. The quote should also serve to suggest war should be avoided at all costs since it "is Hell." I'm just suggesting that the quote is pretty true: given how life and experience seem to work. What juxtaposition is more frightening and sufferable than experiencing our potential for good vs evil? It's like being betrayed en masse, and betrayal is the worst ring of Biblical Hell - coincidentally.
Huh… It’s almost like he purposely slanted the interview or something 🙄🙄😒 But in all seriousness, I hope he got a lot of money because nobody’s gonna respect him again on anything political or foreign policy related lol like I get he plays up his intelligence as part of his brand, but I did not know he was this clueless about politics and basic history
Funnily enough, I sometimes imagine Lex in a parallel universe where he didn't read "loads of books" about Ukraine and read only a "Russo-Ukrainian war" Wikipedia page instead. Even that would be better for this conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Makes you really wonder what books he read because even a basic to intermediate knowledge of European history would have made him seem a lot less clueless. I always knew he played up his intelligence a bit as part of his brand, but I don’t think anybody can ever take this guy serious about anything political or foreign policy related ever again like this is just an absolute joke and almost all the questions were blatantly leaning pro Russian ..
I watched the full interview when it released. I am astounded by how much of a leader Zelensky is. Its not just talk with him. He is open and honest. He is bound to the duty of his nation and his people and speaks on the sacrifices that are made there within. He is a man of honor, integrity, and valor. There are very few modern leaders that would stand on the front lines with their soldiers. Ukrainian soldiers understand how solemn and dire their situations are on the front lines. They fight all the same. There is a love for country, cause, and family that is missed in most modern nations. We are a soft people now, long distanced from the conflicts of the past and the loss that came from them. We have become acustomed to global homogeny and the sense of togetherness that flows from that. It feels like we have simply lost that sense of fear from constant conflict and encroachments on sovereign borders. We take for granted the stability of the modern world and have forgotten the blood and loss it took to lay the foundation we stand firmly on today. It is a shame. But this is the pattern of civilization. Empires rise and fall all through history. Time and time again they fall victim to the comforts and become like fat dogs lazing under a shaded tree. Unable or unwilling to stand and fight for the core values that made those nations what they are. A group of people coming together for the creation of prosperity of its people, its gods, its leaders, or its ideals. Complacency is a killer and we are its victims. It is good to see a peoples like the Ukrainians and a leader like Zelensky having the will to show that it is necessary to have the courage, bravery, and selfless sacrifice required to hold and defend the sovereignty of its nation, its people, and its ideals.

It blew my mind when Zelensky said “we can’t start in the middle, they are on our land!” And Lex says “nevertheless, I want peace, so let’s start in the middle.” Lex runs a successful podcast for a few years and thinks he can be the single person to negotiate peace between world leaders at war. 😂
I’ll admit I haven’t watched every Lex interview but I have a seen a good number of his interviews. I noticed it at first with his Sam Harris interview and ever since I’ve started to pay attention to who he chooses to be critical with and who he doesn’t. Lex definitely has a populist and anti-establishment streak. When it came to Sam Harris, I have not seen Lex give anyone as much pushback as he did with Sam. Practically anything Sam said he would push back on, even the most basic common sense statements made by him. When it comes to controversial people and people who ought to be pushed back against, Lex gives them much more free reign to say whatever they want with little to no pushback. I think that’s fine if he wants to pick his battles, but I think it’s also perfectly valid to then criticize him and his blind spots. The complete failure to push back during his Donald Trump interview was embarrassing. His complete failure to push Kanye was heartbreaking and just let Kanye spiral out of control. His failure to push RFK again just gave him a platform to spread lunacy without looking like a lunatic. This interview with Zelensky was just that, naive. He’s treating Zelensky like the kid at the adults table where Putin and Trump are big boys and Zelensky needs to grow up and negotiate on their terms. No. Putin is a psychopath and Trump is a child with zero understanding of foreign policy. Pretending like Zelensky needs to “compromise” to achieve peace is ridiculous. Peace can be easily achieved by Russia leaving an independent country with its borders as they were originally recognized by the entire global community. That’s it. Pretending like Ukraine now has to bargain to resolve the conflict legitimizes the idea that you can take over any territory you want. You can invade someone, then pressure them enough to stop fighting and you get to keep what you took? In what world is that justice? In what world does that promote peace? The only way to have peace is for the entire world to signal to Russia that if they do this again, they will be economically and politically destroyed. This interview does not give me any confidence that if Lex gets to interview Putin that he will not just roll over like Tucker did or like how he rolled over with in his own interview with Trump. Embarrassing.
Embarrassing is definitely the correct word for this interview. Also, cringe. Lex is a useful idiot for Putin and a simp for Trump, Musk, and Rogan. He ought to change his "uniform" from a black suit and tie to a black leather dog collar and leash, red rubber ball gag, handcuffs, and chastity cage.
Sam was one of the few right-leaning influencers who clearly stated his anti-Russia and pro-Ukraine stance and backed it up with facts, philosophy, and logic. He is seen as a very dangerous figure among Russian plants and tankies. He's sort of anti-Dugin(Russian fascist ideologue) It would make sense that if Lex is in fact a russian plant, he'd be more confrontational with Sam than with others.
Tucker is known to have made a shit ton of money from his efforts to whitewash Russia and Putin. He is literally being paid for pure propaganda purposes. If this was during the Cold War, he’d ended up doing life or worse very quickly

Zelensky's glazing of Trump is an amazing tactic lol I notice how he never really has anything of substance to say about him other than "he's a strong leader and ik he can end this war" and it seems to be working. The comments are surprisingly supportive of him despite Trump and his supporters absolutely dragging Zelensky's name though the dump.
It's depressing he has to do this but 100% the best move, Trump has proven time and time again the only thing he actually cares about is stroking his ego. It's still a toss-up though as he usually sides with the person who sucked up to him last, maybe if Zelensky plays his cards right he can get a suite at Mar-a-Lago next to Musk.
Yep, he’s smart. He understands that all Trump cares about is Trump and how much people think he’s the coolest or the strongest it’s actually a really brilliant strategy.

This is probably one of the main issues which made me log off Twitter and never look back, the daily barrage of easily disproven and often self-contradicting lies concerning the war and its lead-up peddled by people who i would've thought would jump at the opportunity to defend values we so enjoy and often take for granted, was simply maddening. People like Lex who is at best ignorant asking leading questions concerning the reaching of peace placing no burden on the attacker still engaged in crimes not just to prisoners of war but to civilians, the same civilians people like him who make "calls for peace" conveniently leave out of the conversation on a consistent basis. People like conservative pundits and politicians who have overt contempt for their country but won't put their money where their mouth is and go be with the tyrant (and by extension every authoritarian shithole/entity who supports them) they glamorize and propagate the narratives of. In any other timeline where people like Lex had a semblance of shame we would've kinetically sent Russia back behind their internationally recognised borders and that would be the end of it, but no, because we're charitable to people like him we're almost 3 years since Russia escalated the war and their peace plans are to let an invader keep what they stole, lick its wounds, and inevitably invade again. Actually evil.
Almost like he has some well funded group behind him that would have him slant the narrative a certain way, even if it makes the interviewer look like a fool
The disgusting thing about this interview is that Zelensky was talking Ukrainian this whole time, but Lex was talking to Zelensky in Russian. Just speak English ffs. At some point Zelensky even switches to Russian to ask Lex if he "understands his point now?"
I got to say I was Impress in the way Zelensky handle himself in this interview and as well showing how Navie or stupid Lex is in this kind of conversations
I went into the Marine Corps infantry at 17 and after eight years of combat I looked very rough. In the infantry being 25 made me a senior citizen. This was common for combat veterans.
Lex isnt pro russian. But trying to do this middle ground in the white and black conflict, where there is a clear victim, looks extremely cringe and unhinged
That’s the thing, Lex has bought into republican talking points and they don’t see that there is a clear victim, they see both sides at fault, and also the US at fault
Yeah but since the reality is so clear cut, he is on the wrong side. It is like asking for a balanced judgement for Hitler and asking Churchill why he isn’t for peace. He is complacent as a useful idiot.
Lex isn't pro-Russia in his thoughts, but he in his actions. This is the problem of the Russian Liberal that Ukranians, Poles, Georgia, Kazahks and the near abroad have been warning the world about. Russian Liberals may say they don't support the war and want peace. But when asked to honestly denounce the country's leadership, they utterly freeze and try to both aides it to not be seen as self-hating.
I saw a lot of negative feedback about Lex in this interview and took it with a grain of salt. Now watching it I'm impressed by how bad his performance was. What would happen if Russia and Ukraine were both accepted into NATO? What??
Man.. it only gets worse. Zelenskyy can't treat Putin like a crazy person, but someone who loves his country? What a lazy, propaganda-minded, and thoughtless reply. And a comeback that Donal Trump loves his country and hasn't visited all the cities? Wtf is his goal in this? He's just repeating the same 'Ukraine bad, make peace' in various ways. What a terrible interview. Zelenskyy shines and I have an incredible amount of respect for him. I would love to call him my president.
At first I was willing to let Lex go with how much he was trying to find middle ground, but he lost me after beating his head against the wall with the "I have a dream" stuff. It's plainly obvious that he doesn't really understand the reality of fighting an existential, total war and is naively thinking it can be resolved like a small-scale conflict. He clearly was getting a bit frustrated how badly he was coming off, but kept doubling-down to get that Putin interview he wants so badly.
This interview shows he’s either absolutely clueless about foreign policy and history or a foreign asset lmao Didn’t his family escape a Soviet country or somewhere war torn?

Lex did not mention anything about how current regime is in russia. Nothing about how people are / were treated in occupied cities. But this is so much why we are fighting against russia.
I think there is a... substantial chance that if Trump, Zelensky and Putin are ever in one room together, Zelensky might just pull out a hidden shiv from his shoe and take matters into his own hands then and there.
Thank you Destiny. You have one of the best video commenting this interview. As a Ukrainian I am still shocked everyday how we should constantly prove we have the right to exist and right to fight off. We need more support.

I posted a comment underneath Lex's video that was critical of Russia. No strong language whatsoever. The comment got deleted, among with a lot of other comments of other people, claiming the same happened to them. What's his deal? Who funds this guy?
He and the other "peaceniks" are not talking "positivity" or "peace". They´re talking indifference. if the victim doesn´t care then they don´t have to either.
The fact that for each of these absolutely delirious, asinine and delusional questions, Zelensky still managed to somehow provide a relevant, informative, eloquent and deeply engaging answer without being offensive to Lex is mind-blowing to me. This man chiseled David out of a pile of propaganda induced feces.
29:09 finally someone told him about it. It was never a civil war, so frustrating when people say that, cuz its mostly pro ruzzian or ruzzian pushing that narative
What Putin has accomplished in the propaganda war might just be the greatest in history. Watching the US right wing become his bitch is insane to see play out in real time.
It started as a civil war, though. Ukraine attacked themselves, territorially, and there were Russian forces there, chilling with the separatists. Zelenskyy literally talks about it in this interview.

You know, when Russia is the country that literally invaded. With Russian soldiers on the land of the people he is the president of, that Russia started.
So gross.
@ros1150Learn how to use periods, nobody is gonna read all that bs you bot

Yeah, one of the hardest parts of being a decent diplomat or politician is absolutely always being able to think before you speak I have a family member who has a job similar to this, and it always amazes me that even after four or five martinis at some fancy politicalcocktail party, he still always is able to think about everything before he says it

Responding war is hell in response to the description of blatant and intentional war crimes against children in order to minimize them is like pure evil.

ever since I've seen the MASH " war isn't hell. war is war" scene - I just can't take the " war is hell" statement seriously. it's merely a phrase to disengage with the atrocities that are happening to innocent people in war.
It was insane. Why in your right mind would you use a platitude like “war is hell” like a “anyway” statement? Insane.
"Pure evil" is the new literally
@@Rudi_MentaireOr it's a way to acknowledge that war is fling awfull. Depends who says the phrase and for what reason.

But in all seriousness, I hope he got a lot of money because nobody’s gonna respect him again on anything political or foreign policy related lol like I get he plays up his intelligence as part of his brand, but I did not know he was this clueless about politics and basic history
Funnily enough, I sometimes imagine Lex in a parallel universe where he didn't read "loads of books" about Ukraine and read only a "Russo-Ukrainian war" Wikipedia page instead. Even that would be better for this conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ya whenever you hear anyone brag about being knowledgeable due to "reading a lot of books" is a massive red flag in pretty much every industry.

Sending other people to die in your stead does not require bravery.

It blew my mind when Zelensky said “we can’t start in the middle, they are on our land!” And Lex says “nevertheless, I want peace, so let’s start in the middle.”
Lex runs a successful podcast for a few years and thinks he can be the single person to negotiate peace between world leaders at war. 😂
Bro this whole interview is so embarrassing for him lmao
I can’t believe he doesn’t even have basic knowledge of European history and foreign policy 😂
It will be Taker 2.0. For sure. His preference is clear

The comments are surprisingly supportive of him despite Trump and his supporters absolutely dragging Zelensky's name though the dump.
It's depressing he has to do this but 100% the best move, Trump has proven time and time again the only thing he actually cares about is stroking his ego.
Yep. Zelensky is a gigachad. Wait, no, he's a terachad.
Most def! IN ALL CAPS!
thank you thank you thank you, Destiny, щиро дякуємо
Hang in there bro, stay safe
He and the other "peaceniks" are not talking "positivity" or "peace". They´re talking indifference. if the victim doesn´t care then they don´t have to either.
It truly is hard to keep listening to Lex be dismissive ALL the time
The fact that for each of these absolutely delirious, asinine and delusional questions, Zelensky still managed to somehow provide a relevant, informative, eloquent and deeply engaging answer without being offensive to Lex is mind-blowing to me.
Lex fridman needs to be deported.
"The tolerant side"
>Says this
@@TurtleChad1cant speak for others, but my problem isn't discrimination generally. it just needs to land at those who say really fn stupid thing rather than based on who they sleep with or how they were born
He’s a stupid little twerp
@@TurtleChad1 almost every immigrant is super fucking happy to be in the US, they work hard to be here for better lives. Lex Fridman is a traitor who has systematically supported deporting hard working immigrants who love America while also being anti american and pro Russia himself, he's like a Manchurian candidate, send him back.
@@TurtleChad1 unlike most immigrants who love America, having worked hard to be here for a better life in some way, lex is an anti american, pro Russian shill, I don't care send him back, let him live in the country he so clearly loves more than this one, and I'd say this for anyone from any country, if they are a Manchurian candidate type person literally is taking actions contrary to the country BECAUSE they think their country of origin is better, we can help them go back!(It makes little sense why they wouldn't be doing this voluntarily to start)
Lex actually started by saying that Trump was interested in ending corruption. WTF?
So I can’t use Lex and “smart” words in same sentence. ok. Got it
He really went maga just like his buddy rogan.
Lex is stupidly niave, and believes that everyone is good natured and has good intentions. He doesn't have a clue about Trump, and shills for him. He's been doing that for a while. Lex is like the autistic kid that has tons of information about tech and AI, and is astoundingly dumb about everything else that goes on around him in the social world. He said this on X
"I believe in the power of tough, honest, empathetic conversation to increase the amount of love in the world."
His niavity is he thinks he can get everyone else to be on the same page with him. It's incredibly cringe.
😮 Simply brilliant. I'm speechles how quickly Destiny cuts through all the bullshit and goes straight to the point about why and how certain questions are asked. Great job.
Yet he manages to be wrong on every single one. What a clown. His entire world view comes down to "Russians are unconditionally evil race of humans"...which speaks for itself.
Yeah, this is wild. The last time I saw this guy was like I think 10 or so years ago when StarCraft two came out and he was not a big dreamer like this is funny as hell to see him pop up in my feed, talking about politics and then he actually had good takes, which is awesome. I’m happy for all the success he’s gotten.
Watching this interview makes me understand why the scouts charged for Erwin Smith.
They don't make leaders like this every day.
Lex's russian is on a level of a 5 year old native speaker.
His English is on the level of a 5 year old.
Haha! Thanks from those of us who do not speak Russian, I was listening thinking to myself he sounded not very fluent lol
@@jjcoola998 It's enough to travel around the country, go shopping, etc. And I believe he could read a book out loud and voice out almost all the words correctly. So props to him for that.
But nuance, innuendo, wordplay will most likely go over his head. And hearing him formulate sentences is a bit tedious, especially since it's the slight variations of the same sentence over and over.
I am in Ukraine, most Ukrainians I speak to have very little faith in Trump. They hope he will do something, but they do not expect it.
Zelensky is playing it in the smartest way possible at least I wish he was in charge of us here in America. Honestly, you guys are lucky to have a leader who actually has balls and is not old as fuck.
Nonetheless try to stay safe bro
12:00 in the story, Solomon was bluffing saying that he’d slice the baby in half and the actual mother said she’d give up her mothership to let it live
Lex Friedman to the leader of the Rebel Alliance: "Darth Vader wants peace. Grand Moff Tarkin wants peace. Even the emperor wants peace. Maybe it's a naive fantasy, but I want to live in a Republic where all parties are willing to come to the table and end conflict."
His name is Alexei Friedmenko. Have some respect August.
Isnt it Alexei Alexandrowitsch Fedotow?
@@agiyx8591 I'm saying that he pushes orcish propaganda, so using his real name could be confusing
"Friedmenko" sounds Ukrainian so you fucked up this one haha.
