Who recommended Fullerton? Friends like that you don't need enemies! A MUCH nicer drive & ride is El Morro 6 miles south of Corona Del Mar. Nice drive from Huntington down PCH to get there too. Big wide fire road trail & single track. Whatever floats your boat. Right across PCH from the beach so the temps will ALWAYS be cooler than inland riding. In light of your upsetting maiden voyage on the Fullerton trail I HIGHLY recommend going back. I know, bear with me... You go back with a van. Any van & preferably with NO windows. You use the side door to remove your scoot, gather your stuff, make sure you open & close your wallet, maybe take a wad of cash out, pull a $10.00 bill from the wad then stick it back in the wallet & toss in the van like Micky the dope. Slam side door shut leaving unlocked (they won't need to brake anything to get in) and begin your ride. When the scumbag(s) break in a couple fellers are waitin inside to greet the sumbitch(s), nab em a begin "re-education therapy" aka extremely severe a$$ whoopin!!! I'm talkin both knees & both elbows bent in a way they're NOT supposed to!! It's a 2 step process: Step 1. Pound them till they think they're going to die, but you don't deliver that ending. Step 2. Continue with the delivery of pain until they beg to be sent to the dirt nap. At that moment they're cured and will NEVER steal anything ever again in their lives. Works every time. Carry on...
I would recommend a bike rack that would allow you to secure the bike to it. Unfortunately that style doesn’t have a good way of locking the bike to it with a steel U lock and cable for the front wheel.
That sucks. I've ridden FL many times in the early 2000's and a few times in the last 2-3 years and never had an issue or heard of break-ins. I always park where the 'majority' of people park, at the far lot facing the courthouse. But yea, check out Carbon Canyon/ Chino Hills. I take my wife there (parking is $5) to ride Telegraph trail, which is 6 miles uphill and 6 back down. Once you get up to four corners, you have many options to take other trails, but I haven't yet.
The other riders in the lot seemed really surprised it happened to me too - FL isn't a stellar area but I wasn't expecting this! Lesson learned either way. Thanks for the rec - I'll check that out!!
I've ridden there a few times and it doesn't surprise me that folks would do that. Sorry that happened to you, on another note...Go ride Chino Hills, it is way more fun but be ready to climb...good luck and welcome to an expensive hobby lol
Unreal!!! Thieves are the scum of the earth. Sorry that happened to you

You read my mind! I bought one right after i filmed this video - rack came with a cable and i added a u-lock when I'm parked. Thanks for the advice!
