Thats why I think, you only say 340i sounds better because the mass say so. That People who say the m4 dont sounds good never drove one! They have only watched youtube vids!

It's a matter of taste. I think the 340i and the M2 for example, sound meatier and throatier than a M4. The M4 sounds too messy, compared to the N55 engine. Not that I don't like it, but a 340i of M2 with Performance exhaust sounds beast too
The M2 has a modded N55, M3/4 has the S55 and the 340i has the B58. IMO the N54 sounds better than any of the aforementioned
Underrated horsepower figure for sure.
Horsepower doesn’t tell the whole story on a car. You see you can tune it to high amount of hp, but if the power comes in the end of the rev range it’s useless. Bmw has tuned it to have most of its power early on.
drove this car in Napa, CA on curvy roads and it was the drive of dreams. This thing is fast and hugs the road and is very comfortable.

This is a great used BMW buy in the UK, as the motor is likely to be pretty understressed by not being able open up due to narrow roads/lack of space. Unless the previous owner has tracked it of course... I have a stock 120i and even I don't get to use the engine's full rev range that frequently.

M3 is not only about acceleration. It is more precise steering, stiffer suspension, exhaust sound...

I believe BMW claimed 5.1 seconds for this 340i, but I got 4.7 seconds, which is unbelievably quick. That legendary B58 3.0L turbo inline 6 with that amazing ZF 8-speed does wonders.
I'm also going to buy a 340i, because of just the awesome B58 engine that E has high praise for. I'll still consider the 540i but the 340i will be lighter and faster.

How do you feel the new B58 vs the old N55 in the 335i? Does it dies after 6000rpm or it keeps pulling up to 7000 rpm?
I can only speak from driving an M235i. It pulls hard to 7k. Brilliant engine especially with the ZF box.
+damefaso max hp on the new engine is at 6500rpm so i think this new engine definetly pulls all the way up to redline

+cai yichen Yes, this is the same car he used for the POV drive, and it shows the M-Sport steering wheel.
Tab Tiurf Only M-sport equpped models come with that steering wheel. Regular and sport line trims come with the standard wheel. M steering wheel is not optional.

MartinC it think because after 150 the Dynamic stability control also goes off. Probably went sport plus just to launch

Lol why would m3 owners dislike it? Its def not even remotely close to f80 m3 and is only close to e92 till 80kph... its basically e46 m3 in terms of straight line yet on track its as fast as e30 325i wagon(if you need proof go on motortrends channel). So why would an m3 owner dislike this video?

I would not get the s4 as it is not as thrilling to drive as the 340i. Those were my two choices as well. After extensive research and test drives I got the 340i and I‘m glad I did. Plus the tuning options are way better for the 340i. I think you will get bored with the S4 and regret your purchase.

+ray koudijs You need to be in Sport+ for Launch Control. After that, we prefer the Traction Control to be on.

nah you won't hit that time in real world conditions, at least not without a tune
Check my video, 0-100 in 4.7-4.8 secs, in the correct weather and conditions as mentioned. XDrive could do 4.5 secs easily. But its a slouch at the curves.

I have one. The fuel is actually pretty reasonable providing you don't do this all the time. I average about 7.1 l/100km even including some 'spirited' driving.

Be real its a nice car but it takes what it needs
This car is pre much identical to e46 m3 in terms of straight line performance yet it barely beat an e30 325 wagon around willow springs.(motortrend comparison) Its a decent car but bmw has lost their way in a bit. Remove all the tech put in nicer materials and shed some weight and then you got yourself great cars again.

Is not as good as a 335d xdrive.
I have owned both and the 340i seems heavy and handles like a pig, especially in the wet.
The 335d xdrive is the one to go for. It is more fuel efficient, handles better and for you're buck is actually in a different league to a 340i.
Overrated I think is the word I look for regarding BMW 340i
But the 340i is faster then the 335d...
Then you get a 340i xdrive… ???Definitely not overrated, underrated if anything.
