And if you disarm bodyguard NPCs in Hitman 3, they'll just pull a gun out their a$$ after waking up lmao.
Goes to show how older games were more realistic in some ways

I think it's because of a different focus. As the games went on they focused more and more on the perfect stealth style of gameplay (with Absolution being a weird hiccup that kind of goes both ways), so with the WoA trilogy they focused more on stealth related stuff (how NPCs react to distractions, poisons, unique accidents) and skipped over things like this that they intend for the player to avoid anyway. As in ideally they don't expect you to be having unconscious guards found and woken up at all.
