Dude that was insane, why would they make it so hard to replace something so basic. Thank you for the video. it took me three attempts but I finally got it! Phew!
Thanks for the info on that little metal clip. A bit of advice for others. If you disconnect the ring clamp for the air going to the motor. You can remove the entire air filter box. On my 2014 dodge Durango RT the airbox is held in by just a few push on rubber bushings. So you simply pull up to remove the whole box out of the way.
Thank you so much for this video. I was pulling my hair out. So my problem was that I put the open end of the white plastic collar onto the new bulb exactly perpendicular to the bottom of the bulb, instead of having it off center. Once I saw your video about turning it off to the side it instantly popped it and the white collar twisted on no problem. Thanks for taking time to make the video, saved a ton of money.
I quit being a Dodge tech while the 2nd gen was in production. This video helped me a ton on my wife’s 2015 R/T. I could monkey my hand in to remove the bulb and replace it. I did not have enough room to twist the lock ring back to lock, and was working in the dark. This saved me an hour I’m sure. Thanks
I just replaced my HID headlight and just a FYI. If your bulb doesn't turn on after you replace it, check your fuse. When my bulb burned out it also shorted the fuse.
My experience was that once the clip was removed separating the bulb from the connector was difficult. It took a good deal of effort compounded by the distance of the bulb inside the car. I almost gave up. Be sure the clip is removed, because it was on so tight that I thought a clip was still connected. Judicious use of a flathead screwdriver helps. Gentle firm traction and rocking back and forth and patience will be rewarded!
I didn't find that rocking back and forth did anything because it's locked in with a tab -- you need to get a small screwdriver in there and lift the tab up -- then the connector pops right off -- none of these videos talk about that
Tip: After removing the c clip, take a flathead screwdriver, put it between the bulb and the clip, turn screwdriver. Some videos say, “just wiggle it”, that doesn’t work. I lost the damn c clip, but at least that trick got the bulb off and back together, less the c clip. Back yard 1/2 speed mechanic mission accomplished.
I am trying to do the same thing on the driver side of the 2017 R/T. I took the clamp off successfully, but I am having a huge problem disconnecting the wire. I can be wrong but I feel there is another clamp somewhere or this thing is glued to the bulb. Does anyone have any advice on disconnecting the wire? I have read some of you guys say use a screwdriver I have tried that unless I’m not putting it in the right spot. I have also tried the wiggling and pulling at the same time.
the connector is locked on to the bulb with a tab that needs to be lifted using a small screwdriver...you can get it in there right in the center, pry up a little and the connector will pop right off
Tried doing this today, but sadly failed. After taking that clip off, the connector still wouldn't come off for me. I thought I was missing a step but no it won't let go of the bulb... hmmm.
I think the guy above talking about a slip ring is not what your problem is -- I ran into the same thing. Once you get the clip off, it's still locked on the bulb and you need to use a small screwdrivers to lift it off a bit and then it will prop right off
there's two parts to disconnecting the wire harness, one is the clip you are talking about above which you would just use a small screwdriver to pry it off, the second is prying the connector off the bulb because it's still locked in there...I used a small screwdriver to lift it up a bit and then it popped right off....the problem is getting your hands in there to do that -- none of these videos talk about this
You don't show how the actual clip comes off or how the actual plug come off. Trying to do the passenger side is 100 times more difficult. That stupid plug does not want to come off. Even after the clip is off. Don't bother putting the clip back on.
I just took the bulb out first so that i could get a screwdriver on the plug, squeezed the clip and rotated the screwdriver to pop the plug off. It was way easier to put back on. Still sucks though.
yeah, I had some problem and frustration -- I realized you need to get a small screwdriver in there and lift up on a tab that's locked on the bulb -- once you lift that up, it pops right off
This guy talks way too much, if he didn't talk so freaking much about the stupid crap he would of been able to cut this video in half. I think he likes to hear his self talk.
Old video but love it! Watch this almost every time I change my light as a refresher 😂 Ty!

Honestly this is very detailed I’m coming from an sxt to a limited and the way the headlight changes is crazy😭😭
If I lost the clip can I get it back in? It won’t click in been working on it for 1 hour

What number is the fuse on the Dodge Durango

We need a video on how to replace the ballast module and connector

TapeMaster I had that same issues until I figured out that if I turned the slip ring on it 1/4 inch counter clock way it came straight out then

After removing the clip how did you get the cable to disconnect from the bulb?

Taking off the rubber boot! Impossible
Film landscape next time.
Get to the point
This bulb replacement looks difficult on the drivers side.. ugghh i told the broad dont get a dodge
The right side is the easiest. The air scoop in front of the box comes out really easy. Left side kind of sucks. Its been a good car otherwise.
