Well good for you buddy. I've had men follow me on trails. Bears leave me alone because I leave them alone. I left the men alone and they kept following me and trying to talk to me and get close to me. I told them to leave me alone and they saw it as a challenge to get my number. Thats predatory. I don't carry food in the woods and that's all a bear would want from me. A strange man who is ignoring my wishes wants my body and my time and control over me.
He is pragmatic and thinks about the worst case scenario. It's not that he assumes any man he meets will be hostile. He thinks this way because it's a loaded question by nature; pairing a known "scary/dangerous" animal with a man. The implication already exists that one of them WILL harm you, so since this is a forgone conclusion, he picks man, because he knows he might have a fighting chance IF that man were to attack him. If this question was a fair one, I'd love to see these same women on tiktok posit the following question. "Alone in the forest -- would you rather encounter a black man or white man" and make the claim that isn't a racist question, just like how they claim it isn't a sexist one.
A man, very simple question. No person is beating a bear, not all man are gonna attack you or do some bad thing to you as the question is implying. It's preferable to have other human being in first place, it's preferable that have potencially more physical qualities to return back to society or just survival. So that's why at least if you're using the brain, the answer never is the bear
Not all bears are going to attack you either. It's actually extremely rare for a bear sighting to result in an attack, just when it does happen, it makes headlines and people go wild for it.
No, that’s the original question @BelindaShort it’s just that they ask that variant to see if the answer would change. Which makes it slightly different because a pre-pubescent girl is more likely to get bodied by a grown man than an adult woman against the same kind of man.

As a woman who has met a bear in the woods more than once, I'm picking the bear. I know exactly what to do to get a bear to leave me alone, but you never know with a man. Some men are good and will just have a pleasant normal interaction. Some men will leave you alone if you don't make eye contact or if you just say "have a nice day". Some men will follow you around pestering you. Some men will put you in the ground. And some will do far far worse.

He gets it! He knows there’s a threat. Ask him if he’d rather *you* met a man or a bear. (You guys don’t have bears so he may assume they attack anyone they see. They really, really don’t)
I mean, depends on context. If I'm in a place where I'm expecting to see no one, and a random woman comes out of nowhere approaching me, that's also a threat. But when you are hiking in the woods, you walk by men and women all the time who are friendly. The average person has never even encountered a bear in their life
If turns violent with either the bear or man its a lose-lose scenario for women. At least with the bear the death is swift and less degrading. You should ask your husband which he would prefer for his daughter in that situation.
@@mattbryant8320Given how hilariously over diagnosed mental illness has been for a decade or more by now, and how many Western women are neurotic at best, this is unironically a valid answer.
You and your husband and everyone here is missing the entire point of the exercise. You can't change the context- that changes the question you were just asked.
