It's ok Kayla. Your papa is still with you, through memory and song... I just lost my father... and this song reminds me of him so much... the fact that I'd play this song and it made me happy... anything that made me happy, made him happy... I am sure your dad was the same way. God bless you.
Haole means "no breath of life." That is the literal translation. Ancient Hawaiians used to exchange "Ha" or the breath of life. When the foreigners came to the island, they shook hands instead of touching foreheads and exchanging breaths. Therefore, the ancient Hawaiians thought they had no "ha." Hence, the term "haole" was born. :) Source: I'm a haole that was born on the islands, but raised elsewhere. I now live back on the islands and my father is a huge Hawaiian history buff!

@MrPonolicious I agree. It frustrates me when anybody (native or not) uses the term, THINKING they know the meaning and history, when really they don't. Then again, sadly, we use words every day that I'm sure we don't all know the origin of.
island Raggae heals your soul, healing its to the roots where the emotional sadness hides and it lifts it out and replaces it with gladness, because of its goodness and the island energy of spirit between its people brings it to a strenght unmatched anywhere else.we are blessed to be islanders, realize and give as much spirit as you can back to build it even stronger.

That photo... the people kising at sunset... that is my girlfriend and I at the time, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. The person who made the video found my photo online and used it without asking, but I don't mind... it's cool.... over 7 million views now. I found this video by chance, and also some years later I got into a taxi after arriving in Uganda, picked up by a different girl friend, a Ugandan, who's family I was staying with, and this song was playing on the radio. I was like... "what is the world trying to tell me?" I am still in touch with them both and happily married to someone else I met much later. I am still stuck on them... the heart springs are there as I love who they are in the world. If we should be so lucky to find love... let it grow freely, and let people know you care for them always.
Danced at my wedding to this song. Same song that inspired me to pop the question to my forever and always. This song is like time in a bottle and will always transport me to the islands
When the first time you heard this song was by this sample so you sing it this way and look it up to only find out it was a Lionel original! Much respect to him but I will always sing/remember it this way❤️ stuck on this version I guess haha

it’s hard to be content anywhere else in the world when you were born and raised in literal paradise.

Agree I’m stuck on a Hawaiian girl !
So true!! Mainland not the same 😣
I beg to differ tbh. Hawaii has changed a lot after I moved to the mainland. Not really paradise in my eyes anymore (im from Oahu) 😔
@@KikiKpopKrazzzy02 It's still better than the mainland though. Been here in the mainland 3 years.
Iam Tongi brought me back to this masterpiece after over 2 decades of hearing it for the first time🥰🥰
