Exactly, Blastoise and Venasaur deserve more attention. I say that as somebody who doesn't even like Venasaur that much. the Charizard Fanboys don't seem to know that Blastoise and Venasaur are actually the better Pokémon to use for battle.

this is WAY to obvious! blastoise was gonna win from the gecko since its a water type which has the advantage over fire types. and i like charizard as well, same goes for blastoise and venusaur, but this was game over from the start.
You do know Type Advantage doesn't mean everything right? And even if it does, Charizard had super effective moves. Blastoise is the better Pokémon for battle, at least in Kanto

It's not cause he evolve into a dragon it was cause people could use nidoran instead of bulbasaur and squirtle they may struggle in misty battle but still in later games we just can catch a rare dragonair to beat lance and yeah charizard just shined in the anime + the charizard card was very rare these things made charizard iconic + the first art of Pokemon had charmander in it without squirtle or bulbasaur so people thought it was just cool to start with the most iconic Pokemon shown in first arts

I have a gigantic max blastoise which is nearly level 100 and I’m pretty sure it’s my strongest pokemon because my other best pokemon are all fire times such as charzard and cinderace

It's neutral not resisted do you even know type matchups if a move doesn't do much damage then it's either the pokemon using the attack has low attacking stats or the pokemon taking the hits has high defenses in this case it's both
