There's a live perfomance of the full album in the studio, it's really good. The best song for me is The unnamed feeling from this live perfomance.

It’s mixed this way purposely. Intended to sound like it was recorded in a garage (kinda was). I love it because it’s raw acoustically, lyrically and emotionally.

They played dirty window live on UA-cam recently it sounds AMAZING with Lars current set up highly recommend watching it
I'm glad you kind of like it. The album was written and mixed to reflect how band members were feeling which was extremely chaotic, unsure the future, and just straight up raw. I'm fairly certain that Lars actually looked for the shittiest Mike's he could use on his drums. This album came out that a time in my life when I was extremely angry as well. So it actually fit the way I was feeling which was just unpolished rage. I would pop this album on my MP3 player and go run for about an hour listening to it. I think it definitely serves a purpose in a certain space in music. But man I wish they would have turned the snare on if nothing else. But hey, I don't want to be one of those cliche people that just s**** on the snare and then throws the album out because of it.
It's supposed to sound like a garage, this album is about going back to the roots

The unnamed feeling is definitly my favorite in this album. Alot of this album is tough to get through.

I actually enjoy listening to the St. anger album, sure there are some really bad tracks on it but Frantic, Unnamed Feeling, Invisible Kid, Sweet Amber and Shoot Me Again I really do like listening to.
This album dropped a day after i graduated from HS. This album was a shock at the time, but it was better.than all other metal/hard rock at the time amnd now
Sweet amber is the best song on stanger

All within my hands, the unnamed feeling and dirty window are probably the best songs on the album. As someone else said, this album is pretty draining on a full listen
agreed, parts of sweet amber tbh I love the whole song but I can see why some don't. but there are some really good riffs in this album as a whole the wanted a garage sound and that's what they made lol. sometimes people forget that.
Yeah, I actually think it's damn near unlistenable as a whole, though it does have some songs I like. It's kind of like an album equivalent of a bottle of whiskey that you take little sips of from time to time.
Great reaction! Frantic is my favorite song from this album. Be warned, the entire St. Anger album is a low point for Metallica. James Hetfield went to rehab, Jason Newsted quit the band, and the album was delayed for over 1year. The entire band almost broke up, which explains the poor quality. I highly recommend watching their documentary Some Kind Of Monster, which follows these events 🤘
I think you’ll like Some Kind of Monster too. There are a few stinkers but it’s a decent album. It’s where they were at that time - stripped down. 🤘
After you get done with the album, you should take a look and maybe react to the fan rerecord version! If you look up "St. Anger Rerecorded" it should show up.
Check out My World; it's one of my favorites off the album, although I like them all somehow lol.

Bro you need to listen to Unnamed Feeling from this album! Its a jewel. Also, its good to react and cover the songs which are not so super popular and approach from a very neutral stance.

I didnt hate the songs as much as i thought i would hearing all the hate st anger got. It was certainly verrrrry different but if it was a different band, it probably wouldnt have gotten so obliterated by people. I know i didnt invent the wheel with that statement but that doesnt make it untrue
this album is not nearly as bad as people say it is. i'd put it above "load" and "kill em all" in my personal hierarchy. i'm diggin these reactions man, keep it up :)

@@JourneyTheBadDrummer I actually like this song, and you're not missing anything. Really, it's another two sections of the chorus and refrain, IIRC. The video was done when they'd backed off a little on the "make it raw and unMetallica" edge.

It's a decent drum sound... just not for a full album. 😪 parts it could work
It just sounds weird with the other instruments it's not a terrible drum sound but the snare has way to much high ring to it

What happened with that whole album… was Lars forgot to plug in the monitor to his snare, which is what gives it that God awful ring. The songs as a whole aren’t that bad. They are actually better than the load/reload era, but that snare makes the album as a whole unlistenable. The songs are MUCH better love.

A lot of people hate St. Anger without even knowing why. They just feel like they should, because that’s a “cool” thing to do, apparently. I’m glad you are much more open-minded than them.
This is my favourite Metallica album. Even the snare grew on me after a while. The Unnamed Feeling and All Within My Hands are the best tracks imo.
People hate St Anger because it is bad. Songs that are way longer than they should, terrible drums, terrible vocals, mediocre lyrics, no solos, and the riffs are just a bit stock, like the danish boy said.
Dude then you need to go listen to Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Kill Em All, the Black Album, And Justice for All, etc cuz obviously you have not heard them !!!
Im a huge Metallica fan, but dude, this whole album is complete trash. I bought the CD the day it came out and ended up throwing it out my truck window driving down the highway I hated it so much. You gotta be kidding.
I know you're trying to make it sound like it's just the "haters" who don't like it but man, it is a really, really bad album. They were trying to be too clever and too edgy with it at the same time. They thought nu metal was the cool shit at the time and this was their take on it. And then people watch SKOM and try to come up with reasons why they made a bad record.
