Insurance companies most times settle cases when they have evidence their insured is liable/guilty. It’s cheaper than taking the case to trial.

Not necessarily. I think the guy is 99% likely a scumbag, but sometimes it is cheaper to settle. I recall a case from about 40 years ago. I was working at a Footlocker store. They hired a new part timer named Mary and she was (admittedly) hot. She knew it and exploited it. For example, we were all supposed to wear those sad referee uniforms, but our (somewhat pervy) manager allowed her to wear the ref shirt with a tiny black miniskirt instead. And she did things like one time I went to the back room to get some shoes for a customer, and Mary was up on the ladder used to get to the highest shelves and she asked me to come over, and then she said to look up - no panties on under her tiny skirt. She said, "Nice, don't you think?".
She had the manager and half the all male employees wrapped around her little finger. She had guys willing to do all her work for her practically. But our assistant manager (the guy who basically ran the day to day in the store) wasn't buying her crap and made her actually work! She accused him (falsely) of sexual harassment, and corporate did not want to defend it. They agreed to demote Avery and send him to another store and pay her $20,000. Avery quit immediately, and I quit as soon as I had another job lined up.
Unfortunately, without a jail term MAGAtards can make up excuses and lies. They can always play the victim - again.

As a victim, you don't have to press charges in criminal cases.
The public prosecutor is MANDATED by law to prosecute, if it is a serious crime, and if there is any chance of winning the case.
If the victim is bribed to not testify in court by the suspected criminal, or by an insurance company, the prosecutor would still prosecute, without a cooperating victim, based on victim statements in the police inquiries, and other evidence.
The blatant corruption of the legal system that you allow in the US should clearly be illegal.

And as for mail in voting....it has been used reliably in AZ for several years and I believe at least 70% of voters use it. Loads and loads of Republicans have been elected with mail in ballots. I don't understand how early voting can impact the results of an election? it is still the same number of votes for the same candidates, so how does that work?! Doesn't make sense to me - how does when someone files it make any difference?
Data on early voting shows that it increases the number of people who vote. There are more registered Democrats than Republicans. (Witness the wide margin by which Democrats running for President won the popular vote) Republican strategists believe that reducing the amount of time people have to vote will reduce the number of people who cast a ballot and that this will have a greater negative impact on the number of Democrats that vote thereby giving an advantage to Republican candidates. This is the theory as I have heard it explained.
