I concur. For any work that requires a bench plane there is nothing in my limited experience that the #5 cannot do, and do better. Everything else, at least for me, is either too big or too small. The #5 is the sweet spot for me. It is the only bench/jack that i use or need.
@@HandToolWoodGuy I have other planes and find uses for those too. I could live with just a couple 5s, a block plane and a 4. Which makes all the other planes I have hard to justify. But I enjoy having them I suppose.
