Rode Y2K yesterday. Awesome. Fun. Really well done. I had to come see it - IIRC, Y2K was the only single track trail there the first time I rode it back in 2000.
Thank you for the historical reference! When I talk to some of the OG about this area, I've heard similar about this trail. I've also heard that this trail may be the inspiration and namesake for the term 'Whypass' (when spelled it phonetically) because of all the mud tracked on the backside. Thanks for viewing and especially thanks for riding!
@the-stevecast I have no idea why it's called Whypass. That explanation makes sense. There used to be a big muddy puddle surrounded by slippery clay on the old road bed back there. Don Pearson (sp?) could give us an explanation for the name. He was the person who showed us the original Y2K. I think he was one of the guys who built it. Not sure where he lives now. I did see him at the January ACM a few years back. I didn't return to ride there again until 2009 (I think). Got the grand tour from Don and Brock in the middle of a ridiculous downpour. I returned the next two days with the Garmin GPS to learn the trails. Fun.
this looks like so much fun, im in the area and thinking about getting into mountain biking-- is this trail rideable in the winter? are the trails here decent in the wet?
no- the lines on my map are just hand drawn to give some direction and context for the route. They are accurate for beginning and ending but still just temporary.
Excellent video, thanks!!!
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it
Really appreciate the video and thanks so much for making it.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it :)

yes this area in particular, Carpenter Bypass, is rideable all year long! It holds up well in the winter.
Did you make the trail segment for Trailforks already and submit it?

@@the-stevecast do you have a Strava segments made? If not I'll make one later.
no - I don't use Strava. Thank you for making one!
