Yeah he actually learned english from Friends. He said he learned English first by watching friends with korean subtitle. Then without subtitle. Then watch it with subtitle again to see if how much he would know. He also learned japanese fairly quickly. Dont forget he actually have an IQ of 148 and he scored in the top 1.2% percent in the whole nation for his score and it was on the news. His parents really want him to pursue business etc because he actually have a very very high score for his exams and his scores is more than enough to be in the top university in korea and In order to convince his mother to allow him to be a rapper, he asked her if "she wanted to have a son who was a first-place rapper, or a 5,000th-place student" During his early life, he would write a lot of essays and poems online which shows because he really like writing lyrics
yeah, i think it's mostly because he's so insanely smart
most people wouldn't be able to do that especially with a language so different from korean like english (like i've been learning korean for over a year and i feel like i don't know that much, it's different and hard way harder than spanish)
most people who know english in korea lived abroad for a period of time but namjoon never has to my knowledge
the other boys are learning/knew a little but it's hard to beat namjoon's iq and that goes for anyone because the boys are all insanely smart

Jungkook isn't the last, he's pretty good at English as well as J-hope. I think they come after Namjoon as in fluency. I'm know Suga is very good but he rarely speaks in English. Jin understands it very well and Jimin and Taehyung have improved so much. They all have improved so much.
Friends was his start of learning English. He watched it with n without subtitles. That helped him a lot. Obviously he used other sources too to be this fluent. Also memeber who is fluent in English after RM is Jungkook.

my english got better by listening english music.. translating then try to speak…is challenging but now i’m fluent in English. I’m not even close to RM IQ (148) lol he speaks also Japanese and some Spanish my respect to RM and to all of them to at least try and no be afraid of trying. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I know for fact what is like to be one that people laugh at bc u say something incorrect or mix words 🙄 now I don’t care of what people think (about my accent) and all thanks to BTS i feel more happy and confident.

He’s got an IQ of 148, so yeah, it’s totally believable RM learned English from Friends!
RM is the only one fluent in english.
For the rest what I've seen I think Jin is quite good and is known to say "you know?" at the end, now j-hope has become really good lately studying english so he is at the top best of the rest it seems and his pronunciacion and cadence have been really good lately, then JK is also good now with the best pronunciation and cadence after RM. Yoongi is also ok but don't use it much so I don't really know. Jimin have been good for years, you can see him understanding quite well and correcting others but he seems too shy to speak english, along with JK I think Jimin have had the best pronunciation when singing in eng. V is quite good too now it seems but his pronunciation is not the best still but I'll think he'll get there if he just starts to speak more.
As you see in this it's also a big difference in the way they acted and what they answer especially this long ago when they spoke in english compared to Korean, english more silly and animated while when answering in Korean you get really well articulated answers. Now though RM is not speaking for them as much and they are more serious when speaking english too.
I'm not from a english speaking country and I think the key to get good is to use the language, talk out loud and have conversations in writing and out loud and think in english and talk by yourself too, that's how I got fluent. I also watched eng movies and tv-series with eng subtitles on when I started to learn, makes it easier to follow and also learn how to spell words and form sentences. + I had english lessons too and even before that as a kid lots of games had english in them so I learnt playing games too.
These are my tips for BTS and anyone trying to learn english.
But it's kind of like with singing, even if you know how it should sound it takes practice to get to where it comes out with the right cadence and pronunciation. I had a really hard time with all the th-words like think etc and now I don't get what was hard about pronouncing the th sound. It use to come either come out as t or f so think was fink or tink and it was so frustrating and the english R was hard too.
So to everyone learning a new language; hang in there! And use it even if you get frustrated. Don't feel ashamed to speak even if your pronunciation is off, it gets better the more you speak.

I don't think it's acceptable to make fun of their accents and confusion while talking in English, it's very hard to speak in a foreign language.
