The Australia i grew up in. The crowd scenes in this video fill my heart with joy.
Too good. Yeah, never seen anything like it! Except i too was blessed to catch the Ols 3 or 4 times from '78 through the early 80s.

left us all angry and bewildered, laughing at the way we were taken in.

This song sums up life in Australia in the 70s and early 80s the fear , disappointment , anger but at end hope for a better future .

it hard to fathom this ,but this show was 40 years ago!!man the 1980 went fast , well in the 1980s you be hard to find a better live band than MIdnight Oil,in their prime,

Parked the car very close to the stage. It was pouring with rain. Billy’s bubbling…. and it was Summer.
Bands that played were Spy vs Spy, Mi Sex, Machinations, INXS and the Mid Night Oil. It was the most amazing free outdoor concert. Totally uncontrolled by the police. Just freedom, peace and freedom to just be.
The political climate, the freedom and fighting for Tassie’s forest. Anti Nuclear and the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior in our cousins NZ backyard to come 3yrs later. I was engaged and active. I miss that passion, drive and honest conviction.
We all just went off! The best time of my life!

It's the same everywhere. At least in Australia you had rock n roll in politics for a while!
The political system is entirely rooted and rigged towards the fat cats either side of the fence, no one is going to save us no matter who you vote for. Peter had more impact with the Oils than any shithead politician can ever do.
