I completely agree. Some parts can feel a bit "ehh..." but it is an excellent Deathcore album with top-notch brutality. The breakdowns are like punches. The snare pops so much (in a good way). I feel like this and Nightwish's upcoming album will be my top 2 of the year.
You nailed it Vileself in one line. You hear one song and it's a stand out in any playlist. I still find the double breakdown pattern on 80 percent of the album very dull but i still have it 3.5 stars just for how each song is monstrous in its own right. This album is best served like a fine whiskey on the rocks. Sipping it slowly and truly relishing it
I listened to it and instantly loved it. Watched your first impression vid and agreed that some bits are formulaic but it takes nothing away from my enjoyment.

I agree with you guys when it comes to the breakdowns. Lorna Shore are definitely capable of doing a variety of different breakdowns. Take a song like Throne Of Worms from their album Psalms. They actually had some very djenty styled breakdowns mixed with the usual big breakdowns. Too many of the breakdowns on this album where the same just with some slight pattern changes here and there. And while Obsession was a great melody only track to break up that cycle, they should have done the same with the track, Hollow Sentence. Like holy shit. That intro riff along with the beautiful choir arrangement and keyboards was so sick and the break down kind of ruined it because it resulted in that intro riff being used only one other time in the song and then that is that. They should have used it more often in the song just to break up the pattern from the other songs. Also the track, This Is Hell, definitely sounds like a song that sounded like something from the Tom Barber era. It just stands out too much from the others and the only thing about it that sounds different is CJ's take on the kind of vocal melody that would accompany those riffs. Also, that track just feels like it drags on for too long. Otherwise, it's a stellar album. Instant AOTY for me personally.
I knew y'all would "get it". What an album... and unfortunately, they'll never get to truly bask in its glory. Apparently they did manage over 4 million Spotify streams in this first week though so, they clearly have support.
God dam you guys deserve more subs. I agree with what you guess said and adding to that I found most of the solos sounded the same and the general mix didn't feel balanced mostly with the synth and guitar especially hearing how well SOI nailed that balance. Good album tho

I think maybe some cleans for the more ambient parts of some songs, but either way vocally a stellar album.

There are no effects. His tricks are just variations on the tunnel throats. My personal favourite song is the closer, Relentless Torment.

I like this album because, not only is it crushingly heavy, it also has amazing atmosphere/ambiance. And even some nice melodies thrown in.

Misery System… insane!!
Every time this song comes on, it's always a standout. Definitely my favorite song of the album, one of my top overall.
