Afterthought: Your feedbacks on the rank of Abdulsalami Abubakar before he became head of state have been received and further research was done to discover that he was a Major General at the time he served as Chief of Defence staff.
It is, however, important to point out that this was an interview and the position of the interviewee, Alh. Gidado Idris. He mentioned that both of them (Useni and Abubakar) were Lt. Generals. Notwithstanding, I take full responsibility for any info shared on this channel.
Thank you for watching and leaving your feedbacks and suggestions. Pls remember to like the video as well.
    Thank you 🎉❤❤❤❤🎉

True this after Lt Gen Oladipo Diya, Lt. Gen Jeremiah Useni was the next most senior officer in the Army.

Point of correction Abdulsalam Abubakar was a Major General before he assend the throne... By seniority JT useni was senior by hirachy Abdulsalam Abubakar was the chief of defense staff thus making him the next in line for the presidency

The correction here is the rank of Abdulsalami Abubakar. Well, the interview say he was Lt Gen. And that is what I know too. As chief of defence staff he was already promoted to Lt Gen. before Abacha died. Thanks for watching 😍

I think Useni was right to nominate himself as successor because he was the most senior. But as usual, religion and ethnic origin will be used. Thank you for this video 🎉🎉

If we should stick to this line of argument then tell me who should and succeeded Ironsi. Was Yakubu Gowon the right person for the job as officers like Brigadier Femi Ogundipe, Col. Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, Col. Conrad Nwawo, even Lt. Col. Odumegwu Ojukwu were senior to Gown in the army? I did not mention the fact that Commodore Akinwale Wey(Navy) was also there..

@@ekusondebango3568 The British were practically in control of things back in Gowon time and they cherry-picked him to succeed Ironsi.
He was picked because he ticked the right boxes for them.
He was a Northerner, the British 's favorites from day one. Even though North Central but it was a one united North back then until Dimka and Orkar failed Coups shattered the unity of Northern Nigeria.
Gowon was a Christian too which Britain felt would also appeal to Christian majority South.
By the time it got to Abacha's incident, Nigeria has consolidated on its independence with the Muslim core Northerners in control.
There's no way they would have settled for a Christian head of state.
If Useni had pressed further to be the head of state,he would have been history immediately

Jeremiah Useni is not a member of the armed forces ruling council. He cannot come from outside and succeed the president. In the absence of Diya, Abdulsalami is the next in hierarchy not Huseini nor Bamaiyi .

A part of this is not accurate.
Before Abacha died, only Useni, well, and Diya (who had been dismissed on account of his conviction) were Luitenant-Generals.
    Abubakar was a Major-General.

There are mistakes in your video.
Abdulsalami Abubakar rose from Major General to General in the Army.
He was not a Lt General.
Useni was a Lt General in the army during Abacha government.
Please do a remake of the video and correct the mistakes in your video.
By military hierachy, Abdulsalami was qualified to succeed Abacha but by Army ranking Useni was Senior to Abdulsalami.
At that critical time, Useni felt he could take advantage of Abacha death to become Head of State but he could not achieve his mindset desire.
