He asked if the person who died was younger (“below you”=younger) than her and SHE said that it was her five month old son. It would be different if he specifically pointed them out and told them “I know you are hurting b/c your five month old son died in a car accident while you were driving. I’m very sorry for your loss and I know you think it’s you’re fault but you have to stop blaming yourself”. But he didnt. He asked vague, general questions and they volunteered the rest.

Did your friend or their spouse pay for his ticket in any way in which Edwards could identify him? Like credit card or online ? Mailing address? (He only offers paper tickets here in Australia so you can keep them as a "souvenir" but it's only to get a legit adress out of you. )
He has a general understanding of who will be in the audience based on that and it's not hard to Google births/deaths/tragedies/ obituaries (which usually tell cause of death ie lost his battle with cancer/died tragically/ peacefully in sleep etc and murders and fatal accidents usually reported in local news, plus you can look up anyone's name on sites like ancestry.com, a tool that many bereaved people sign up to preserve the memory of their loved one and let's not underestimate the clues he can get of social media with just a name and address.
I really don't want to rain on your parade but cunning flogs like this prey on the grieving, which is unforgivable really.

I am not here to try to convince anyone what they believe. Just know most of the things John Edwards spoke about with my husband and I would never be posted on social media. I didn't even know who was going to be on the show that day so this was very unexpected.

Is the person who passed, either your parent, grandparent, child, pet, friend, a relative or somebody that you used to know?
He also used to tell people on his show that it could also be someone they never met. So if they didn't recognize the name, initials, or vague details he gave about something that when they go home to ask their family. I'm sure if you give vague details and common themes, if you ask around a bunch of people someone is bound to "validate" the information for you. Also, there was another psychic who gave total misses to the person they were reading. When confronted, she said she was tuning in to their previous life. LOL

You get 30 people together, and chances are several of them will have lost someone in a car crash. Several of them will have known someone who died with "blackness in the chest" (lung cancer, heart disease, breast cancer). This is what we call "Shotgunning" in cold reading. Other things they might say "I'm sensing something in the chest area, or breathing trouble, or I'm getting cancer, or I'm sensing head trauma".

Being psychic is Never straight forward. NEVER. Clairvoyance (seeing) gives images like from a movie or people, like the car accident. And then the number 5 (the baby was 5 months old).
Clairaudience is hearing things which would be hearing the names or letters of the name. It's hard to communicate with the dead so it's not all going to come through clearly. He got names of her family members and the dad thing without asking and hoping she'd say yes, it's a prediction.
Clairsentient/clairsentience is the ability to read feelings. Her grief for her baby, her dad issues, etc.
Being a medium involves Intuition not written put paper for him to read off of. Some are just better than others.

In this day and age it’s not hard at all to stalk your Facebook profile, raid your garbage, or hire another person to “randomly” chat you up a week or two beforehand (did you have a ‘totally unrelated’ insurance salesmen ‘who just happened’ to knock on your door recently?). That’s just one of the many tricks that are used.

I worked at a psychic call center where they teach you this. They teach you to force the caller to provide the details and then you piece it together to give them a sense of awe....like "this man may have had heart problems before he died " and " there were things you wish you would have told him before he died". Well, duh, that covers about 90% of anyone whose parents or grandparents have died. Take it from someone who worked there, it's all fake. Notice too, that no statements of fact are ever made until all the questions have been asked

People who claim he’s cold reading should try to do it themselves. They’ll quickly discover how impossible it is.

This is so weird. I am watching a lot of this content because my brother passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack 4 months ago. I have been a huge fan of NDE testimonies for many years, and I always thought if I were to lose somebody close to me, I would be able to handle it better just knowing what I've learned from hearing so many NDE stories, but it has been complete and utter devastation. I still cry every day, I still feel my heart in so much pain, I might actually die of a heart attack, it hurts so much! I find this interesting because a few things said after the 3:30 mark actually rang a couple of bells for me. I am sure I am grasping, and it might be what some of the skeptics are remarking about in terms of the generalizations that could apply to almost any one, but here they are:
1. When he says, "There are moments that are so hugely inexplainable in life that we have to honor this is terrible and this sucks". My brother was only 53, he had 5 kids and a wife he was so in love with. His oldest son who is 22 said pretty much these exact words to me.
2. My dad has a brother who was born a twin, the sister passed at birth.
3. I am known as "Aunt K" by his kids, my real name is Karen, a name he mentions.
I am not sure what to make of all these similarities, but it almost seems like this video was meant for me. I'm probably just grasping, though. I miss my brother so much, so, so much. :'(

I’m SO sorry for your loss..We do have to still honor ourselves in the physical and allow us to grieve bcuz we miss them in the physical...I, too, got into the NDEs bcuz it helped answer questions from an experience I had that were inexplicable...As you honor your grief, your brother may try to reach out to you, just look out fir the signs...You don’t need a Medium, you are your own best psychic...You can even assign a Symbol or a Sign by telling your brother that if I see this, then I’ll know it’s you...Now, be open about how that comes through though, if you say if I see a Penny, don’t think it only comes in a form of a coin, it could be a person’s name where that person suddenly appears, etc...Spirits are ver High Vibing, they have to slow their vibration down tremendously to reach us so it’s easier to come to you in your dreams bcuz you’ll be less resistant to what comes through...And by orchestrating a Penny to suddenly appear in your experience is one common way they communicate to you..;-)
You were meant to see this video, you are not grasping for anything. Just like how your nephew said to you that "there are moments that are inexplainable at life and we have to honour them", watching this has brought validation to his words. The similarities are in your brother's way of bringing your attention to something that would validate what his son said to you. It may seem like a general statement, yet it is very profound that many people (grieving or not) can benefit hearing and believing in many ways. As someone in a comment mentioned earlier, keep open to your faith and the signs that you may continue to be receiving from our families who have passed from the other side. Sometime's it feels easier and safer to be in denial however many signs that are meant for us (generic or not) often get missed through our doubt.

I have to disagree with all of the noisy negativists. This guy is solid. He named her Aunt as "Kay" and he was correct. How many people in that section he pointed to had a relative die in a car accident, with twins in the family, who have an Aunt named Kay, a mother who died of lung cancer, etc., etc. It is the aggregate number of "hits" that he made that to me is remarkable. Beyond chance. Maybe a little 'cold reading' is required to 'activate' the subtle energies of clairvoyance.

Just because he says something and it does not resonate with the loved one does not make it false. There are several factors that could have happened. The medium could have misinterpreted it. The loved one could just not remember etc. Seems you just jump right to "this is garbage".
