009 Spalted Maple and Mahogany Bowl - Woodturning

- This is the second of two spalted maple blocks I got together. The first one exploded - • 003 Maple and Purple H... . Fingers were crossed that the glue-up this time would hold it together. I can count the individual LEDs in the reflection from my overhead light so I'm pretty happy with the finish this time too.
Sanded to 400 grit and finished with:
Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax Polish

Really pretty bowl. You did a good job. Nice finish too. I think the 2 woods go well together. It can be tricky when they’re different grain and hardness. Btw, that’s not mahogany; it’s sapele. It’s like calling pine spruce. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece. But i feel sorry of wasted wood could we core it instead whether with coring tools or in another way as straight sharp followed by curved tools
It's definitely a struggle losing so much. There are tools out there to core out the inside mass of the bowl to save for later, but unfortunately, they aren't in my tool box yet. Many thanks :)
