The Semois, a river like no other… A river of legends, the Semois conveys its destiny in a nature where we sometimes find traces of ancient civilizations, from the Stone Age to the Merovingian era. It winds through a beautiful countryside where meadows extend to the bottom of the slopes, sometimes interrupted by a few woods.
Leaving the gentle Gaumes country, it is in Chiny that the Semois digs its bed in the Ardennes schist. It quickly cuts into a deep and winding valley. Capricious, the Semois flows between rocks, woods and meadows, between buttercups and rushes. Walks in the forest almost always end at the top of the rocks which, at the foot of the Semois, offer visitors prestigious panoramas.
