Magnifique route, magnifiques paysages et vues époustouflantes. Le col de La Bonette est l'un des cols mythiques du tour. Merci beaucoup pour le partage. La France, avec sa diversité, es l'un des pays les plus beaux du monde.

I just drove to the top of La Bonette for the first time, a few days ago, myself (from Jausiers too, as I was coming from Gap), including the ascent by foot to the summit of the Cime itself (2860m), with a standard 75hp city car.
I was shocked at how tough some sections of the ascent were, I had to drop to 2nd gear and even sometimes 1st gear at the steepest parts, particularly at the "ring" road that circles the summit...
The weather was sunny on my way up and at the summit, with just a few clouds, but Monte Viso (which you can view from the summit's orientation table) was full of thunderstorms, and soon after I returned to my car it started raining here as well. Also, from 30°c in Jausiers (1300ish metres altitude) the temperature dropped to 16-19°c at the top due to the high altitude xD
As for the landscape, it pretty much has the same sharp changes as on Mont Ventoux - the lower levels are still full of vegetation and forests, but as you approach near the summit everything becomes lunar, a few last fields then just rock, bare rock everywhere, it's really spectacular.
I also hit a small rock on the road on the way back to Jausiers, luckily didn't get a flat. But yeah, rockfall is always a problem and a danger on these high mountain roads, even more so for cyclists and motorcyclists...

Drove also on La Bonette, but in the other direction, coming from Nice. We had 30 degrees C in Nice and just 2 on the pass, with snow :) Noticed you encountered also some snow near the road. You had a great weather day and made the best of it, enjoyed it a lot, thanks for sharing such great drives, greetings from a roadtripper and creator from Germany!

Thank you for the comment! Yes, there was a bit of snow on the pass. I hoped there'd be more😅

In the late 40's, my grandfather was one of the builders of the last big bridge you crossed (At 1:09:01) before entering Saint-Etienne-De-Tinée. The old previous one was obviously damaged during WWII.
