Found a similar spot today walking my dog, so hyped to get it going!! Didn't think there were any decent curbs near me but just had to look a little closer. Great video thanks dude!!
Sick dude that’s a great spot, hope you get to prep all the curbs. I tried my first slappy couple days ago and brutally slammed. Pretty scared to try again. Keep us updated on this spot. Hyped for you
Tip: I'm usually sitting on my skateboard on the ledge while I'm rubbing the edge bellow my knees with the rub brick. I roll along the edge while doing it to make it as long as needed you can also put your backpack over your knees to make the whole thing less noticeable. It usually get unnoticed no matter how crowded the spot is. It looks as if I'm waiting for my friends while I'm warming up my knees. The sound of brick rubbing won't be as noticable if you are rubbing with shorter movements, many people would think that it's the sound of skateboard trucks grinding anyway so it's easy to get away with that. Clear coating can be also done while riding on your skateboard along the ledge while spraying it with paint hidden in tetrapack or something else. Waxing can be done the same way as brick rubbing. Note: if you can do it in the evening or night better do it then, it can be much safer. Otherwise consider wearing a vest like any other construction worker, they might not bother you as much. Repeat this on all skatable ledges in your neighborhood and the world will become a playground for skateboarding.
Great job bro! Curb prep videos are arguably my favourite sub-genre of skate videos. I totally get the paranoia at 5:22 where you're constantly looking up expecting to see a cop or security guard looking at you, lol. I'd feel better putting coating from a can on with a brush and just smearing it on thick, but weirdly I've found that, at least in Europe where I live, 'clear' coat only comes in spray cans, while all the coating in tins is always coloured for some reason. The owners of the local parking lot seem to tolerate us skating there, but if I'm prepping another curb I'll make sure to hide the spray cans in my bag and, if there's a camera nearby, get someone to park their car in front of me while I'm doing the rubbing and coating. Spot looks great, hope it's is a keeper and look forward to seeing you get clips here!
a stealthier alternative to the spray clear coat is a can of lacquer and a brush or roller, its a little messier but way more low key. but that being said get it how you can!!!
I watched other videos and tried the cement sealer method and clear coat\lacquer must be the way to go. I rub bricked it smooth as hell, sealed it, waxed it, and it still barely grinds.
Looks like you're documenting my life lol Quick tip : if it's for a spot that i'm hoping to skate every week, I let a solid 1- 2 week between the rub brick and the clear coat so hopefully the rain will rinse the dust from the rub brick and the coat will apply better ! Also, I'd always apply the clear coat early (like 5am) so I'm sure I'm not being bothered by some local vigilante
Love this. Crazy timing. I have been looking up a lot of videos on conditioning curbs as I have been out doing some recon for new sports myself. I have a non traditional spot I found that I am going to clean up in May. Sunday slappy Spot
Nice! While watching it occured to me that instead of being sneaky you could have rolled up in a truck with a reflective vest on, threw down some cones before you started and I'll bet no one would even question what you were doing 🤘
This was great. Was feeling your stress and glad you didn't get a vandalism charge. I wish everyplace was like Cali. They use finer cement and slap generous coats of paint on their fire lanes year after year. Many of the curbs are angled too. Slappy heaven. I'm in Florida and the curbs are crap here. I would have to do some serious conditioning to get one ready. I can think of one parking lot (still under construction) where it might be possible. Good info. Subbed.
Sorry dumb question from me, what was that blue scrubby thing, that you were scrubbing down the curb. Is it called a "brick sander?" By they very nice slappy grinds !
I did this to a ledge and skipped the clear coat cause it felt like I'd get the cops called on me etc. Doesn't grind at all but slides at least :( Guess I gotta melt or use a solvent to get all the wax off and start again.
I think if you wear yellow vest, you could definitely pass as construction worker in case anyone questions what you are doing haha. Definitely recommend mask while rub bricking, your lungs will thank you...
This brought me joy. Nothing better then breaking in a new curb.

Your spot looks fun. Good job. 👍
Nice and quick make of that spot. I'm so jealous of these tall, smooth and long curbs you guys have.

then just use white. tape it off too.; if you make it look better than it did its a good chance no one will care

Yeah, I would definitely try it, but im on a bike. The spray can is just easier to carry, haha.
@@KevinNiceTry 100% also i just spilled the end of a can in my van i would not recommend doing that at all.
That no comply shuv out 😍

new to your channel. instant subscribe! grind on dawg!
Haha, that's awesome. Thanks!
Sick tricks
Thanks!
Nice work dude 🤙
Rad bro!!
Hopefully going to get a bunch of curbs going here.
I would wear a hard hat and a safety vest and have a clipboard with a lot of paperwork. If somebody comes out, I'll try to get their signature.
Maybe that building is full of Kevin NiceTry fans. Rad curb. Good job with it, dude.
thinking about getting back into skating (Im 37). What kind of board set up would you recommend for slappys?
The slappy guys love the 8.5-9" boards (egg or football shaped) any trucks work. Maybe some dragon wheels for a smooth ride.
@@KevinNiceTry thank you! any recs for truck sizing and wheel sizing?
@davidchew1255 depends on deck width. Wheels is preference but anything from 52-54 ish is standard.
concrete sealer is the most incognito
What clear coat spray did you use? Does it matter what brand someone uses?! Good job n fun to watch dude!
Rustolium clear coat, anything works better than just wax. Thanks. I appreciate you checking out the video.
you should really wear a mask when grinding down that concrete, the dust is terrible for your lungs
True haha
@@KevinNiceTry dude for real. My dad has concrete in his lungs from construction work. Be careful, also sick vids!
Rub brick, sweep the dust away , clean the area with alittle water let it dry, clear coat then hit it with the wax
Why do you need the clear coat? Can't use just work lots of wax into it?
Concrete will soak in the wax in the heat. Making you have to apply it a ton before you get the same result of clear coat.
@@KevinNiceTry Got it! Thanks
Dude the wheels are fire 🔥 what are they ? Where to buy ?
They are the Spitfire evan smith visions. 55mm conical full formula fours. Might be hard to find now. I got 2 sets because they are so sick haha.
@@KevinNiceTry Thank you! 🙌🏾 sick skating by the way hope that curb spot last you a while! 🙌🏾
Same haha

Fellow buffalo skater, I NEED the location please!!
Michigan and Clinton street
Sorry dumb question from me, what was that blue scrubby thing, that you were scrubbing down the curb. Is it called a "brick sander?" By they very nice slappy grinds !
It's called a Rub Brick. Most hardware stores sell them. I always just call it a brick rub, haha. Thanks!
I did this to a ledge and skipped the clear coat cause it felt like I'd get the cops called on me etc. Doesn't grind at all but slides at least :( Guess I gotta melt or use a solvent to get all the wax off and start again.
I believe you can just clear coat over the wax. Should work. Try that before starting over.
Great, use candle, better than wax !!! What kind of product is this spray ??? Share it dude... Thanks, peace.
Gulf wax, aka paraffin wax, is the cheapest and best wax. The spray is just a gloss clear coat. Any brand will do, but the krylon worked great.
@@KevinNiceTry yeah ok coool, thanks yet bro, peace
@3:39 lol
Hahaha, I'm glad someone noticed that. Haha.
😂 i’m dead
WHERE IS THIS
Michigan and Clinton Street

I think if you wear yellow vest, you could definitely pass as construction worker in case anyone questions what you are doing haha. Definitely recommend mask while rub bricking, your lungs will thank you...
Hahaha, a construction worker on a bicycle
That’s sick bro what did you use first on the curb to sand it
Rub brick

you should wear a mask when you brick rub stuff man 🤙
when i heard the cops sirene, i was like "oh no it's america they will shoot him straight off"
I wish skaters got less flakk from the mindless govt trusting sheep.
hows the snow up there?
Still no snow. Cold, but no snow. Kinda wild, especially after last winter.
Buffalo ny? If you were in a different buffalo mb@@KevinNiceTry
