@@HippoBytes I'm not sure how many parallax layers or sprite faking parallax scrolling the 2600 can do but if you could slowly scroll mountain to left that'll be perfect, jungle hunt had foreground And background parallax but idk how they did it
Looks like a great game, awesome they are creating new ones for the 2600. I grew up on that system! One thing you didn’t mention when opening a new box is the smell of a brand new game, that was magical.
The game looks amazing the spirit of the original creator is really shining through it! Oh man, I would have gone nuts as a kid if this came out during the day, I'll have to look into this, thanks for sharing!
Awesome video! Just received my standard edition copy recently, and it's an awesome game. If I may make a suggestion the volume on the video appeared to be pretty low.
HyppoBytes you're welcome! I some times have similar issues with my video a featuring gameplay. My smartphone tends to sit on the table in front of me so I have to lean forward, and speak up. Even then my voice doesn't always come through over gameplay sound effects, and music ideally.
That must have been awesome. I remember having to take a picture of your score, get it developed, mail it to activation, and wait for the patch to come in if it ever did.
@@HippoBytes Never mind. I'll just have to 'console' myself (I do love a pun) with the memories of myself and family members nearly killing ourselves whilst trying to complete the 1500m. In my case I put in extra effort in order to try and get the coveted tune for getting 1000+ points in an event. It seems even back then I was a bit of a sad case.
It seems that a these new games would benefit from a controller with more buttons. I know at least 1 more button is possible via the joystick connection because Omega Race for the original Atari 2600 came with an accessory that slid over the joystick and had a button that fired the ship's weapon. The regular button on the joystick fired the ship's thrusters.
I played a homebrew recently, Aguna, and it uses the B/W as a button of sorts to switch to a map screen. Creative. Then there was Raiders of the Lost Ark that you actually used BOTH controllers. One for inventory management.
I got my standard edition and patch last week . I haven't had the chance to play much , but I had a heck of a time getting the QR to scan . It wouldn't scan on my CRT . I hooked up my moded 7800 to my HDTV and after several tries , I got it to scan . Since I have the standard edition , I didn't get the rom and the cartridge doesn't work on my Retron 77 . Bummer . Very fun game so far and super impressive for the 2600 .
Yeah it is super fun so far - I haven't spent as much time on it yet than I wanted but have progressed. The only scan I tried was the Retron 77 rom on an HD tv and had no problems...I wonder if scan lines hamper
@@HippoBytes 😂 I'm confused didn't you help make Activision then Blizzard bought them out to be ActivisionBlizzard then Microsoft bought them for 69 billion ?
You need to invest in a mic of some kind. I can't hear a thing you're saying because of the audio - it comes across as quiet mumbling. That aside, it's cool that there is a new game for the old old old (old) VCS.
ET2 is to be realised. " The search for the finger ". 28 million cartridges are to be made..... Atari say it will bring them back to the market in 2021 and make them billions of dollars.
looks great but can you make mountain parallax scroll 12:39 sad it's static
ah so very true, how did I not note that.

LOL!

Ah yes! Totally failed there. I got another boxed game I'll do this week and remember to throw that in.

I think it’s certainly one of my favorites now. Kind of Raider if the Lost Ark and Pitfall combined.
Great content,love the passion
Thanks - i'll still work on improving
Holy moly.
Right?
Awesome video! Just received my standard edition copy recently, and it's an awesome game. If I may make a suggestion the volume on the video appeared to be pretty low.
Thanks for the feedback. I was a bone head here and had my camera behind me so it didn't pick up well.

UNNbelievable to get such a game programmed on a machine that nearly NO video memory! Super impressive.
Yeah. Some folks don't realize even though you can have a 32K ROM cart, you still have to deal with the EXTREMELY limited RAM.
My sibling put a whole lot of Activision patches on a Member's Only jacket, back in the day.
That must have been awesome. I remember having to take a picture of your score, get it developed, mail it to activation, and wait for the patch to come in if it ever did.
@@HippoBytes I never did manage to send a picture of my Decathlon score in order to get a patch. ☹️

The ladder on the chameleon car...
been a while since I made this, what where you referring to
"Find The Black Key" is all it needs to say.
Haha, you actually do need a black key to proceed at a spot. It's kind of like a Pitfall! Adventure (or Raiders of the Lost Ark) hybrid.

The accessory daisy chained into the controller port.

This looks similar to Dan Kitchen's unfinished prototype of the sequel to Keystone Kapers! I wonder if David and Garry finished it?
Yeah similar they are on a train but Dan's game, Gold Rush, should still be coming out soon www.dankitchengames.com/

Hmm, can someone call up Carol Shaw? I need a river raid 3 😁👌
I 100% agree with this!
Great video! Looks like I need to get my first 'probrew' now.
Yeah - its actually a really fun game!

lapel mic that's all, good content
New video include lapel mic 😅
Nice and fun video, but I feel compelled to throw microphones in your general direction.
Fair enough - I'll work on that.
They should port modern activision on games to the Atari. “Wipeout VCS” would be amazing.
That would be a good one! Did you see Ed Fries did a Halo 2600? ua-cam.com/video/Jk6xxm9R46Q/v-deo.html
I just bought mine (collector edition 0746) after watching your video 👍 I'll leave mine sealed and burn the ROM on a multicart.

your voice is mixed too low. everything else is too loud as a result.
Yeah I think I forgot to put the mic back in at a certain point - I'll keep working on improvement.
But I still love you
