My tip on citrus fruit: Look at the pores on the skin. Fine, shallow pores means thinner skin and more juice. Larger, deep pores means thicker skin and less juice. Choose the thicker skinned ones if you're looking to zest or use for twists in a cocktail. Not 100% but generally a very good indicator. And yes, you took the time to write the script for the bot. Wouldn't it have been easier just to narrate it yourself?

People who use AI for narration are probably not native English speakers for the most part, so if they did their own voiceover it would probably be even more irritating to listen to, if intelligible at all, due to their thick accents. That's my theory anyway.

1. Pick oval oranges. 2. Pick male oranges (male oranges have small navels and female oranges have a split navel) 3.Pick oranges that have green stems (not brown) 4.Pick dark orange oranges 5.Pick heavier oranges 6.Pick oranges that have elasticity in their skins. The reasons for selecting oranges with all of these characteristics are in the video.
The oranges with navels are a different variety than those without. Valencia oranges generally are the best oranges to make orange juice, navel oranges are generally the best for eating. Blood oranges have a unique flavor all their own.
Hello. I am very happy to receive more useful information from you. I am sure you have a lot of experience in choosing fresh and delicious oranges. Where are you from? Merry Christmas!!!
I still miss Valencias. I liked eating them, I did t make juice from them. They have more flavor. Those stupid little Cuties they sell for kids have less vitamins and flavor, and people prefer navels because they peel. Blood and cara cara oranges are a shorter season, and more expensive. And kumquats are mostly for preserves, smd also expensive. By the time key limes get to where I live, they’re terrible, and I just use regular Persian limes. Florida used to grow a lot kf our key limes, but a hurricane destroyed the most of the groves, and the farmers replaced them with the Persian limes we all see today. They’re hardier. That’s why key limes are harder to find and cost more. Fewer trees, harder to take care of. Also probably global warming/zonal creep causing change in soil and ambient temperature, changes in rainfall, Floridians using up their aquifers, sinking land, developers destroying habitat and agricultural land, and more hurricanes that are stronger and more virulent.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video!!!! I was a migrant farm worker years ago with my ex-husband and our son in Florida, picking oranges and some grapefruit, besides working in other fruit and vegetables in other states!!! we picked a lot of oranges, mostly juice/Valencia, oranges, four frozen concentrate or juice!!!! We ended up, hauling the oranges ourselves in our pick up truck with a gate in the back to unload them at the juice plant!! I ended up working at the juice plant for about five months as a USDA, fruit inspector, working in the laboratory, running test on the orange juice After going on the line and picking up three random containers of frozen, concentrate, etc….very interesting to say the least!!! I didn’t know all that about choosing oranges!!!! 🍊. Just because you picked a lot of them, doesn’t mean you know about all that., right?!?!! We would carry about 90 pounds of fruit around our necks in these big sack/bags, and go up and down these big oak ladders, having to move the ladders around the tree and place them!! We would dump the oranges in a big bin, that would get picked up by a large conveyance/truck of sorts that they would call a “goat”!!!!?! 🐐. Thank you very much again.!!!! The truth is that it is almost impossible to find good-tasting, fresh fruit in supermarkets, including Whole Foods where you pay premium price for second-rate produce (I'd say third rate, really). Growing up, we only had citrus fruit in the winter season, but it was delicious. Now it seems to be there all year around, but tasteless. Oranges are dry, flavorless, look like they have been picked a year ago (probably). That's why we only buy what's local, in season, from farmers markets. BTW, the support of farming just approved in the Bill does not get to these small farms. Only to the huge factory-like productions of corn and soy. "Farmers" who never get their shoes dirty!

You might like citrus in an orange upside down cake, which is an old standard recipe. I’ve made it with a topping of navel, blood and kumquats in a pretty graduated-color rainbow pattern. You might also try making lemon or lime curd. There’s butter and sugar in it, which balances the acid and makes it luxurious. It goes on toast or muffins, or in the middle of a layer cake.

I don't want to sound nationalist but when I buy Italian oranges of any kind I'm always satisfied the best is the Tarocco quality which is very tasty, instead when I buy oranges from other parts of the world, it's always a disappointment. Maybe freshness has its importance, but the Italian ones even if you eat them after a month, are still excellent!

@@topdiy707 I’m from Brazil 🇧🇷 we usually have two or three types of oranges on supermarkets and recently I noticed they are not as good as they used to be, so I’m gonna use your tips to choose ‘em better
Happy 2025!

My favourite citrus are Limes
Could you please do a video on Limes
Happy Holidays.To You😊😊😊❤❤❤
@@davidjohnson1414 Hello dear friend from Astralia. Thank you for your wishes and idea. I will make a video about lemon.
@topdiy707 Hi Maybe You could cover Lemons 🍋 and Limes together.
For your consideration.
I find Lemons bitter whereas Limes tangy.
That's why I prefer Limes to Lemons 🍋.
I will wash and quarter Limes and eat them rind and all.
Thankyou for Your Excellent Videos.
Much Appreciated.
I'm learning things I didn't know before.
Just ❤️ citrus and apples 🍎.

When I buy oranges, I pick each up. If it is heavy, I buy it. If it is as light as a feather, I leave it.
That's a great idea. Thank you for sharing it. Happy holidays!

Thank you for the information content.
