@@breaktube Calling of darkness does not require the card to have killed anything off its effect to get to the last/2nd effect to return something. Thus if there is no valid targets for destruction you can still get the cards back to hand. However if there is a valid target it must kill something. This is because digimon is do all that you can and also the effect has a then so which signifies the first part doesnt influence if the 2nd part can activate. if it was delete 1 digimon to return 2 cards. then it would require the deletion,
@@LPsChris I don't know, when I was at the North American regional championship, the head judge told me that was an illegal move. Has there been a change in the rules that says you don't have to pay the delete cost to resolve a card effect ?
@@breaktube they either ruled wrong or have read the card wrong as this is a common question now days which the answer has been if it can kill somethibg it must kill something. the effects are separate and are not dependent on each other. if it was kill "to" do this instead of kill. then do this. then it would work as you think. the deletion isnt the cost it is just one of its effects. if u have a digimon on field and you use this card u must delete a digimon then proceed to the 2nd effect. if there isnt a digimon on the field. it tried to delete something. there isnt anything it then just proceeds to the 2nd effect
@@LPsChris I hear ya, but our North American tournament judges continue to rule it as I have said. Even store friendly games will not let that fly. If you are right, nothing changes until the Judges agree with that ruling.

Me too these videos bleeped me u Serra and the game and now a year later I fell in love with the game and occasionally I learn the proper ways to play decks instead of just linear thinking such as using maid mode in this deck to bring out god flame
Was really looking forward to new Imperialdramon, and it doesn't disappoint. Can't wait to see Aegisdramon, and hopefully get more Seadramon in the next pack!
This channel is my introduction to a lot of the newer stuff. So I didn't even know how Black Imperialdramon would play. And... wow. That first big combo turn into Fighter Mode was cooler than most of the stuff I've seen done with some other decks. I'm in love.
Super interesting to see how the FGD deck actually plays, it's one that's a little tricky to envision without a game. The fact the deck never needed to pay the memory cost for Trial is so strong. Imperialdramon played more or less exactly how I expected, but still gets those crazy pushes.
Holy crap, what two powerful decks. It was crazy how Imperialdramon Fighter Mode Black was able to bust into the field. And the board wiping capabilities of the Four Dragons was wild. And that final turn!!! Great match to watch.
I was already hype for an archetype around the 4 Great Dragons, but this just made it even more so. Not to mention how strong the Red/Purple Imperial stuff is! EX3 is going to be so fun.
I love how y’all don’t built top 1 meta style decks, you just show us how consistent the new stuff on its own is. Great video as always, and I can’t wait to see future decks/videos! Keep it up 💯
Again this is the content people need to watch if their looking to get into the game before learning how to play , because they can get excited to see how certain decks perform and maybe want to try them themselves
First of all…. Guhhh dammmmn Imperialdramon Virus warp digivolution is super fast is disgusting… and that alt art is SICK 😳 I honestly thought it was going to win… like meh.. typical Imperialdramon marketing… but that last turn took me by surprise. I can see the format is getting so much faster now.. where level 6+ are a lot easier to play into. Great video as always! Looking forward to the Examon gameplay 🐉 🫣🫣

the imperialdramon only has 1 atk pattern but the four great dragons has multiple atk pattern as each dragon got diff effect, the last comeback was unexpected

Good video! Just a small thing but at 10:56 you can't pass on Gabumon's ESS, it's a mandatory effect (not that it would change the outcome). Not a big deal but relevant in tournament setting.
omg, i thought that's how it was supposed to be. I was like 'oh hell yeah, this gabu is way better than the on deletion one since you'd like your stack to remain on the field (as opposed to suicide bombing with Scatter Mode on top for the god-stack draw 6, discard 4)'. You are correct though, this Gabumon isn't a passable effect, and is very relevant as purple is prone to self deck outs.
Great match. I was looking forward to seeing these two decks duke it out. Honestly, they both somehow just work. I love that yellow has a new powerhouse that can exploit Miko mode and Venusmon. Side note- this new 4gd support could really benefit Magnadramon x
hey, I love how you make your videos! great entertainment. But as a new player, I have a question: Can you play mist memory boost although your digimon was only in your breeding area? I thought you need a purple digimon or purple tamer in your battle area

I know it's late, but I was binging their Digimon vids and came to the realization that this is the first uploaded game where Protag is using a purple deck.
Another amazing and thrilling match CP. The new Imperialdramon is fast as long as the setup is complete in your trash and, however once all pieces are complete, it is unstoppable. The trial of the four dragons deck is also amazing. The match is amazing and i am really happy with the turnabouts. Cheers for more of these videos CP and Paddy. The quality of editing and explaining the skills are well appreciated. This channel is the best., ❣️

That was a great video! But it prompted me to have a rules question. When a Digimon with piercing attacks and deletes a Digimon with an on deletion effect, why would the on deletion effect not resolve before the security checks? I noticed twice in this game that the on deletion effects waited until all security checks were done, and I thought it would have resolved before security.
I just bought a box of ex3, I wanted Imperialdramon so bad but I instead pulled an entire four great dragons core. This battle is really making me consider building the deck out
At 3:48, shouldn't you have missed the timing, thus not being able to jogress? The memory passes to 2 and triggers all "End of turn" effects, but Flamedramon's inherited efffect is only there after that trigger. At least that's how I thought that works?
yes they missed timing, I just rewatched robosushi to confirm and end of turn trigger was when flamedramon cost 2. without flamedramon inheritable being active it misses timing

@@daniellim8392 That's a different situation. If the Digimon evolves and then the memory passes, then yeah you can evolve because the timing isn't missed. But if the memory passes first, then the Digimon evolves, then the effect misses timing. These are two different interactions.

I burst out laughing when you placed down a vanguard stat brick. Its a nice callback to your vanguard roots that still has pretty good use in this game
I really like the playstyle of the 4 dragons deck. But how many options do you have to search for the "trail of the 4 dragon"? You get a ton of ways to play it from your hand but what if you don't have any?
Hmm Patamon and Tailmon are your main searchers for the option card. If you do not have it, hard playing the dragons are actually viable! Magnadramon actually stalls a turn by hard playing her. She's pretty good!

Heya! I'm new to the game and got really confused at minute 7:42. Activating Calling From Darkness wasn't an illegal move? Because you didn't had any Digimon to delete in order to trigger the effect. I'm sorry if my english is kinda trashy, I'm brazillian. Love your videos anyways!
@CardProtagonist first let me say I always love watching your videos. I don't have anyone in my area to play digimon with, so they're the closest I get to the game itself. I have a ruling question that maybe you or someone else can answer for me. @ 7:40 when you play Calling From the Darkness, I'm reading it as the delete 1 of your Digimon is an additional cost to playing the card. Only after that you can return the two purple Digimon. Am I misunderstanding the wording, and/or has this already been brought up and I just didn't see it? I hope to see more videos like this in the future!!
I have a question... At 3:22 the memory gauge went to Paddy yet your turn didn't end? I understand you have to resolve all of your abilities but how did you get an attack off if the memory gauge was at 2 on Paddy?
On 7:40 he uses calling from the darkness without paying the cost of destroy one purple digimon, is that correct? i want to learn more about the rules and some cases like that confuses me

This was a great showcase of both archetypes. The only thing missing was CardProtagonist's iconic "what?" for the last turn. Great video!

True! perhaps my downfall was that Fighter mode is pretty predictable and can be played around! 4 Dragons have tons of powerful tools in its disposal!

No. Turn plyer chooses when to resolve all effect in their turn.

I burst out laughing when you placed down a vanguard stat brick. Its a nice callback to your vanguard roots that still has pretty good use in this game

I really like the playstyle of the 4 dragons deck. But how many options do you have to search for the "trail of the 4 dragon"? You get a ton of ways to play it from your hand but what if you don't have any?
Hmm Patamon and Tailmon are your main searchers for the option card. If you do not have it, hard playing the dragons are actually viable! Magnadramon actually stalls a turn by hard playing her. She's pretty good!

Love all your videos, they are so cool but just wondering at 8.20 isn't that a misplay by Paddy using the delay effect of trial the same turn he played it?
Trial was played on the end of CP turn so that was a legal usage of the delay effect because it was not used on the same turn it was played.
Both decks look sick but I'm actually most excited for Sakuyamon: Miko mode. That card seems quite strong for yellow option card based strats.

Miko mode is actually quite a splashable yellow Digimon! Putting her into a deck that utilizes 5 cost options usually gets you a great advantage!

Heya! I'm new to the game and got really confused at minute 7:42. Activating Calling From Darkness wasn't an illegal move? Because you didn't had any Digimon to delete in order to trigger the effect.

@CardProtagonist first let me say I always love watching your videos. I don't have anyone in my area to play digimon with, so they're the closest I get to the game itself. I have a ruling question that maybe you or someone else can answer for me. @ 7:40 when you play Calling From the Darkness, I'm reading it as the delete 1 of your Digimon is an additional cost to playing the card. Only after that you can return the two purple Digimon. Am I misunderstanding the wording, and/or has this already been brought up and I just didn't see it? I hope to see more videos like this in the future!!

I have a question... At 3:22 the memory gauge went to Paddy yet your turn didn't end? I understand you have to resolve all of your abilities but how did you get an attack off if the memory gauge was at 2 on Paddy?
Black Imperialdramon has Blitz ("This Digimon can attack when your opponent has 1 or more memory")
On 7:40 he uses calling from the darkness without paying the cost of destroy one purple digimon, is that correct? i want to learn more about the rules and some cases like that confuses me
