    Your arguments are perfectly valid with the caveat that silver is provably grossly undervalued today vs. other investments, including other ‘hard asset’ type investments. That is not to say that silver may not stay grossly undervalued for some time but it is difficult to imagine that silver will continue to be grossly undervalued over the long haul (say 20+ years). So much of one’s strategy w.r.t. wealth preservation through the accumulation of silver should consider their time horizon.

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  6 років тому +1

      I agree that silver is grossly undervalued and that may well have a factor to play. I think it is important to have a view of all the factors at play.

    I think the most important thing is to understand what you’re investing in, and why you are investing in it. I’ve talked to people that don’t have the slightest idea of what their money is going into in their 401k/pension, what kind of funds they’re investing in etc. I think you might as well burn your savings if that’s the way you’re going to approach it. And that Tetris set is amazing. Each piece with its beautiful ripples. I can tell you’re passionate about what you do!

      It is the same with people here in the UK - not a lot of people know what funds and what charges they are incurring. Can often be £1000's over a lifetimem. Thanks for the feedback on the Tetris set, I love what I do and I do what I love!

    Not sure about silver taking a moon shot, although it’s a certainty in time that paper money will become worthless. Bet against the massive global debt. 2008 just got papered over in my opinion. People forget too easily

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  6 років тому +1

      I am the same about a moon shot, unlikely to happen for sure. But, as you say - money will get driven back and back so PM's are important to hedge that.

    I just stumbled across this channel and already love it. I actually have a different strategy... I invest in stocks/shares/property and even a bit of crypto for my own long term financial stability.
    But I invest in gold, silver and collectors coins for whoever my beneficiaries are. I can't imagine ever selling them (unless I need to), but I would have loved to have been left a little treasure chest. So it brings me personal joy to be able to turn my dream into a reality for someone else 🤷🏻‍♂️

    GOLD SILVER RETAINS YOUR PURCHASING POWER AND WEALTH
    1913 = a man buried 1 oz GOLD and also $20.67 Fiat cash which was the cost for that GOLD
    2018 = a man dug it up now Purchasing Power $1300 / 1 oz GOLD that $20.67 = Purchasing Power worth $0.82

    Today's silver price is a literally a bargain since the cost of mining is around 10.50 usd some article says it's 12 usd to mine 1 oz so at today's silver price at 15.50 it has a very little room for it to go down but a lot of room to go up. Just saying. by the way that is a nice silver tetris it's much better if you have put a sliding plastic glass on that frame.:)

    Just from recent experience, due to a combination of ill health and company downsizing I was unemployed for nearly two years. While I didn’t have a giant stack of silver, I had collected a decent amount of coins. Selling my collection bit by bit was a little heartbreaking but having that money released from silver helped me a great deal during that time. If you take precious metals for what they are; condensed savings in physical form to be utilised when needed I think it’s a great idea to have a stack to hand. Wealth preservation is the idea.

  • @sander5086
    @sander5086 6 років тому +1

    I think a mortgage free house, is the most important thing to have when you retire. Mine will be payed off when I retire. I do collect/stack gold, silver, collector coins, to have some more spending money when i'm retired. But you should also enjoy life before that, I have seen many people saving up money to go traveling at an old age. ending up sick or in a wheelchair before that time!! So my tip would be, indeed save up some money (in gold/silver)for your retirement. But also enjoy life when you are young and travel the world!!

    What about the challenge for most investors wanting to invest in PMs for their retirement being forced into highly leveraged and risky ETFs for their pension/401k/IRA? ETFs are a poor choice if you see an economic reset/crisis in the near future.

    • @BackyardBullion

    @benjamincartledge8532 6 років тому

    Completely agree. I love gold and silver but 10-15% of a portfolio should be fine, no more than 20%. It's important to hold most of that in items you don't get too attached too because when they do shoot the lights out it's temporary and it means everything else has crashed and you'll want to sell a lot of it to buy other assets that are going cheap and which will provide yield as well as growth. My idea of a way to work out how much to hold - determine the percentage of stock you want to hold and set a stop loss of 20%. Then work out what a 20% loss of your stock allocation would be in a downturn and that's your gold and silver allocation e.g if I hold 60% stocks and in a crash I lose 20% which is 12% of my whole portfolio, I want a gold allocation of 12% so when it doubles my losses are covered. Just what I do, everyone should do their own research and figure out what's right for them.

    Great video and cool tetris silver board.
    As a 62 year old semi retired, I look at metals as a cool way to save some of the extra cash I earn from a part time job - I believe a diversified portfolio is the key. I agree with you that real-estate is a great way to also preserve wealth and a great way to add cash flow to any pension or social security check (USA) that a person gets. I may not see my metals appreciate during my lifetime, but I can pass them on to my grand-kids and hope that they value them as much as I have over the years. Plus I like the feel and look of the coins and instead of spending the extra cash on some useless gizmo, I can put that into metal that will always be worth something.

    I would love to be confident enough to build a stocks and bond investment plan for my retirement. It was in researching what is safe to invest in at the minute that I discovered gold and silver about 5 months ago. I am building up a PM position over the next 12 to 24 months and hopefully whatever BS is going to happen in the world economy will have presented by then and I will do the stocks and bonds thing at that point. I'm lucky to have recently cleared my Mortgage so I'm buying PM's with no debt at the minute. I actually think we will all be cashless in the next 5 years and we will talking about fiat government backed crypto🤓🤗 we are never going to beat the system 🤪😱 The world will go on for sure but I am inclined to believe that a managed transition to a new global monetary system is a reasonable expectation at this point and what that really means to me and investing in stocks and bonds I can safely say I have zero clue. Hence the PM position for now.

    Crazy idea for those tetris sets...a thin slot along the inner edges of one of those sets would allow for a sliding sliver of glass. Where would you find such a sliver of glass? The thought just came to mind that, depending on the site of the set, you might be able to use one of those "Gorilla glass" screen protectors for cell phones or tablets.
    Now, if they can be cut to size or not without simply shattering is another question entirely...but the idea popped into the ol' shoulder box, and I had ta gitter out. d;o)

      Hi Mark. I'm 55 and considering 60 as my retirement. I have a well paying provincial govt job in Canada, but I hear you on the price. To put my mind at ease I prefer to think of it as a store of value, not looking to profit off it. Just to maintain it's value. Stacking since 2008, bought some nice dips and paid too much in 2011, I have no idea what my dollar cost avg is but I suspect its about 22 cdn.

      Brent the way I see it is the clock is ticking , I feel 62 and now is the time retire.
      If you wait too long you get to old and too tired to enjoy your retirement.
      When I turned 60 something changed , it made me take not and retire at 62.
