When I was a kid I literally went barefoot everywhere except for when I went to school. Literally, around 10 years I wore no shoes and here's the kicker. I had such thick calluses on the bottom of my feet I once stepped on a thumbtack that sank completely into my heel and I still never felt it. I only knew it was there because I heard it tapping on the hardwood when I walked into the kitchen.

A week is not a long time to do this, and to be honest, it's the jumping on boulders and the drama that's causing you issues. I have walked barefoot for 5 years. the most relaxing thing I've done is walking on warm relatively fresh undamaged pavement on a shaded back road on a late summer day. calluses don't show up on your foot after just a week. Took me 3 weeks.

It's all that "support" in the shoes that mess your feet up. They just handicap your foot muscles, so they get weak and damaged since you're not using them the way they're meant to be, and it crushes your toes together. I love running, but I kept getting shin splints. People kept telling me, "get shoes with arch support and cushioning." So I did, but they just got worse, and it made my leg muscles all tight. I've noticed that if I went barefoot, I would feel no pain at all, and my leg muscles loosened up. So now, the only time I ever wear shoes is at work and school, and I try to move in them as little as possible, and then the shoes are gone. I'm considering getting those barefoot shoes, so then I won't have to deal with those terrible conventional shoes.

You felt stronger in the gym because now you could engage the calves, adding their strength to whatever you were doing. Sports shoes usually have a high heel, which leaves your calves on a shortened position to begin with. You probably had better balance too, which leaves the other muscles more strength to lift.

I've found when barefoot, I'm able to rip the ground by flexing my toes. Especially if I focus on internal rotation, this seems to activate my hips and lower abs more completely. And somehow, this naturally causes me to grip the muscles in my hands more tightly as well. I now believe the nerve endings for the hands and feet are mapped in the brain in similar locations.

I'm 18. The ONLY time I wear shoes is out in public areas or when I go on a walk on the gravelly road and want to prevent getting blisters and having them rip open and gather rocks inside of them again. Other than that, I'm barefoot all day, every day. I've always been like that! I find comfort in not wearing shoes when it's not really needed. Shoes make me feel like my feet are being strangled and they can't breathe. I don't know why that is, but it's just a horrible feeling xD So I'll rarely wear shoes unless needed.

I can tell you two things from a life time of running in all different kind of terrains, once your knees are damaged (like mine with cartilage damage). 1st: if you continue running, you'll end up semi crippled, 2nd: if you use shoes without cushioning (even for walking after the damage) you'll make the damage even worse. The other bit of advice is give up running when your 50 and use bike instead, I kept on running until I was 62 and then next day after a good 8 mile run (last 4 miles 7 min/miles) I could hardly walk. No indication, no prior warning, they just went; sometimes you get a warning that something is going wrong (which many fanatical runners like me would have ignored anyway, I suspect). A year after that my left foot arch collapsed, probably due to the compensating way I was now walking.
The next mistake I made was following the suggestions of another runner and use bare foot shoes for walking, this exacerbate everything and then some. Six years later and now I require the support of shopping trolley to get round the supermarket just to make it tolerable, I can walk on pavement for around 5 minutes, I can walk on soft surfaces like grass and sand for a couple of miles but that's about it. I bought a pair of Cloudmonster running shoes a month back and found that they make it significantly easier to walk on hard surfaces, you can draw your own conclusions from that, Cloudmonster are about the most cushioned shoes you can get.

    • @deltalima6703
      @deltalima6703 2 роки тому

Weight seems to be the reason. A 120lb guy can run around everywhere, a 180lb guy will probably get away with it. Guy my size, 300lb at the moment, should never run anywhere ever. Bike is perfect, but no running.
This guy is big, maybe 200lb or so. He needs to stop running before his knees are shot, you are absolutely correct.
His form at the gym is pretty flawless, I could see him maybe get to my weight if he keeps at it. :)

    • @TheDavveponken
      @TheDavveponken 2 роки тому +1

As someone who's lived/live this experiment I can say that you're anckles and the middle front of your feet are going to be incredibly sore and sometimes stiff in the first few months. I would recommend just walking in the beginning. You can try running a mile or so but if you run a longer distance you will probably overdo it, which you won't notice until afterwards.
Running completely barefoot is awesome but if you're not careful you will get blood filled blisters pretty quickly (and don't run on asphalt, it's like sandpaper).

Going barefoot is the best thing, it helps with back support see page of people experiencing going barefoot make your feet healthier the soles might get dirty also heard barefoot driving is the best be nice see more people going barefoot it's totally legal. I remember 5 years ago going to post office someone had been barefoot saw the footprints it was a guy because looking at the footprints was somebody with feet size 15, shoes do cause all kind of problems remember going barefoot one time when was 5 years old. Think to myself with kind of weather as climate is changing if be too hot for barefooters walking on the ground with the concrete burning their soles my thoughts used to see footprints in a gym used to workout people either would exercise barefoot or come to the gym barefoot putting on their shoes in their workout maybe they should had ditched the shoes guess afraid would caused an injury. The area living isn't all famous barefooting still think few do go barefoot in stores etc, it's a blessing to go barefoot.

hey everyone! I just wanted to share some good news with you all. Let's just put it this way, the Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. Ask yourself this. How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vein? Have you ever hated someone or ever looked with lust? This is for you to judge yourself, but chances are that you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, fornicating, adulterer at heart and you HAVE to face God on judgement day. Now ask yourself this. If God judges you on judgement day by these Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Of course you'll be guilty because we've all done these things. The truth is that none of us are good people and we NESD God's grace to make it to heaven. We judt simply cannot do it on our own. These Commandments arecalled the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus payed the fine. So now what we must do to be saved is to repent of our sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ! To repent doesn't mean to just say I'm sorry, but to turn from our sins and let Him truly be our Lord continually. He said that many will say to Him, Lord, Lord I have done all of these things for you. And He will say I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye who work iniquity! And those will be cast into outer darkness and raging hellfire and loneliness for all of eternity!!! Because we broke His law, He is very, very just to send us to hell. If someone had murdered 4 people and said to the judge, I've done nice things too and have tried to treat people nice but it was just one time, the judge would then say, okay but you're going to jail. And the judge is very just to do that. One last thing, if you were 10,000 feet in the air and you had to jump, you wouldn't jump out and flap your arms and try to save yourself. That's ridiculous! You would put on the parachute. It is the same with Jesus. You must trust Him as you trust the parachute. We are not good and we cannot save ourselves with our own goodness. We must trust alone in Him to save us. In just a moment of time you can pass from death to life. Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again." That is how we enter heaven. Through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ!!!!✝️If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!!! When we see this ( our sin in its TRUE light), we see how much trouble we are in and we say, "Well then there's nothing I can do. I'm going to hell for sure then." It's true that there is nothing that WE can do, but there is something that has already been done for you! God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins! So to recieve that eternal sweet sweet forgiveness, all we must do is repent of our sins (meaning to continually turn from them and confess them) and trust alone in Christ as you trust a parachute. If I was to push you out of an airplane, you'd want the parachute for sure! Don't try to flap your arms and save yourself, trust in the parachute!! His finished work on the Cross IS ENOUGH!!! He is the only way to Heaven, He said it Himself!! These other religions teach that we must he good and do good things and then maybe if we've been good enough, we will enter Heaven. But if that is true then we are all doomed to eternal hell because none of us are good. That's why this makes sense. Look at the Ten Commandments, they are written on your heart right now!!! I promise that you have violated them. And you might still be doing that today.. Therefore God is just to poor out His wrath on us because we deserve it! But Christ died for us so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him!!! Turn to Him today, and He and only He will save your soul!! "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again ( to go to Heaven)."✝️

rolling out the bottom of your foot even with a golf ball will help some what with the soreness. But going barefoot or at least proper fitting minimalst shoes is a life changer for most. When I switched to barefoot shoes, I went from fallen arches to a functional arch. Its not always fast or magical change that so many people want now a days but its miles better then putting more support in your shoe. Imgaine if your doc reccomened back support like they did arch support. Once you use support things don't get better muscles and tendons atrophy and get weaker when supported in a human body.

When I moved away from the beach for a few years, people would make comments to me about it sometimes. Still rarely was told to put on shoes or shirt though.

While in some parts of the world there are people who work tirelessly to buy a pair of shoes every few years
There are 20-year-olds children on the privileged side of the pond who believe that going barefoot is the best thing humanity can do
Is amazing, it reminds me of people who don't have money to buy new clothes while other kids(20yo too) purposely rip their jeans or buy them already ripped at triple the price to be cool.

I'm Indian, and I'm not going to lie... it's funny to me that he used an epic voice and intense music for something so simple (sounds like bear grills from the discovery channel).
As an Indian we don't wear footwear unless we go outside.
Obviously we can go barefoot outside but we choose not to, also there's the colonial influence.
You shouldn't be going cave man, we evolved for a reason. You aren't going to be able to magically walk on thorns and you shouldn't be able to either. Unless you climb and leap from tree to tree eating bananas and coconuts, this shouldn't be your goal.
If you're just looking for a stronger stance and balance then my advice...
1.Just walk around bare feet at home or in your backyard or something.
2.Workout bare feet. ( shouldn't be too difficult)
    3. Don't go around intentionally stepping on sticks and rocks, nobody does that. You'll gradually develop calluses and you will be able to do all that over time (personally, I don't have any calluses and I walk barefoot all the time)
    4. If you're scrapping off your toes and nails, stop. Like, why does that even happen? You aren't trying out for the military, calm down.
    5. Stop making it a big deal, it's your natural state, just make it a routine to walk barefoot from time to time.
    6. humans came up with footwear for more practical reasons like cold, ice, fire and thorns. It was only for the past 300 years it has been about fashion, cushioning or narrowing your toes. So you can always avoid pointed shoes and go for wide shoes.

When I was a kid in Phoenix, AZ in the 50s, none of us wore shoes when we were outside playing, even when it was over 100 degrees. We went everywhere without shoes, even to the shopping center 1/2 mile away. Our feet were quickly accustomed to walking on the extremely hot sidewalks, and the pebbly ground where there weren't sidewalks. Crossing the asphalt streets were a challenge. We would run across the street where there was a green grassy yard on the other side to cool our feet! There is a weed that grows here called a bullhead. It is extremely painful to step on the sharp pointed seeds. We always watched out for those, since they were sometimes hidden among the grass. We would go all summer barefoot and for us boys, topless, indoors and out. There were no rules in the stores at that time about no shirts or shoes. I still go barefoot in the house. If I had grass in my yard, I would be barefoot there.

I am a 66 year old man, during my working career I did office work and was on my feet all day. I had all kinds of foot problems and I was buying 300.00 shoes just to make it through the day.
After I retired, I was at the gym and stood next to a guy, he and I were watching a woman jogging barefoot, I said to him, wow that's incredible. He said she was his wife and she goes everywhere barefoot. He said it is the healthiest thing for your feet, and it naturally raises your arches.
After that, my shoes came off. For the first few days, even grass was hard on my sissy feet, but now, it has been almost 10 years. I am so glad I listened to that guy, all my foot problems are gone. I hate it when I have to put shoes or even socks on.

hey everyone! I've been walking barefoot for almost 5 months now. The skin on my feet are about 5mm thicker and my toes are super flexible. The muscles around my ankles are much more stable and my balance has improved. I find it more natural to land on the ball of my foot now rather than my heel. I also feel numb to any pain from stepping on rocks, stones and sticks unless of course I step on one that is super sharp like glass or nail.
I only put shoes on when going out with friends or family now. Shoes feel incredibly awkward now though. It's little painful to do anything in them because I have no room to spread my toes or do anything really. They feel very restricting.

In the South, especially on the Beach, where we can go barefoot outside most of the time, the skin and muscles toughen up and accommodate the ground in a few months. Over the years, we also learn to pick up things with our toes. However, for common sense and common courtesy, we wear flip-flops or conventional shoes inside, and in the City. I wear Crocs, rather than flip-flops, as my quick shoes for outdoors in the marsh, where there may be glass, nails, or sharp rocks, or when I make a quick stop at the store. We are barefoot in the house, and the Crocs don't come into the house. On the other foot ..., I know my lawn and my yard, and I don't wear shoes in my yard. I don't recommend going barefoot for only a week, when going indoors, or outside in the summer ... until after the muscle and skin have built up for months. I do recommend going barefoot in safe places outdoors on grass or sand, for a month or longer.

When I worked on a campsite 10 years ago for 8months I literally spent 90% walking barefoot .. in beginning it felt surreal and was painful but after a couple of weeks it felt sooo good and never had discomfort like I do these days with shoes on all the time as now live in a city . Great video and great insight 👍

More people should try going barefoot!! I’ve been barefoot for a really long time now, and when I’m not barefoot I wear barefoot shoes. The benefits of the barefoot lifestyle drastically outweighs the costs. It improves balance and posture, reduces inflammation, strengthens your feet, and more. The freedom is amazing! But you have to ease into barefoot, if you take it too hard at the start (like this guy did) it causes major problems. It’s like relearning how to walk. I hope the comments on this video will inspire more people to become barefoot!

You people realize that humans stopped going barefoot as soon as they became intelligent enough to protect their feet?

@@OncleJer Most people stopped going barefoot after shoes became a status symbol, not because they suddenly didn't want to touch the ground anymore. People continued to go barefoot in most places long after shoes were invented, they only wore them when needed for very specific weather or terrain, sort of like how you probably treat hats and gloves. Feet shouldn't need extra protection for most common terrain, they grow their own, or at least they do when they aren't forced to atrophy from excessive shoe use. Once it became trendy for people of high status to wear them, people started wearing them excessively to look more important.
Plus, plenty of people on a cultural level still follow the original logic of shoes being as important as gloves, a lot of ones near or below the equator for obvious reasons.

@@OncleJer yes, but humans have gone through millions of years of evolution and adapting to be how they are now. My feet work perfectly fine, they are doing what they are meant to do. My feet are strong and tough, they are pretty much immune to most sharp objects at this point, if that’s what you’re referring to. I’m not arguing, I’m just explaining my opinion.

Agreed, it's so great feeling to be barefoot, i almost feel like some kind of super hero when i see not trained guys with their feet hurting even on such an smooth thing like gravel, while i can just litterally climb trees barefoot, lol, it's actually a huge flex, ngl. I almost feel like i can't even climb trees with shoes no more, when i'm thinking about it.
