Both Australian Grandfathers were major fighters in Battles at the Start of both World Wars .Father was in Signals after WW2. Since the end of WW2 there has been a Force that has covertly taken control.....and they are not friendlies...over...
Just a couple helpful tips from someone that fitted pipe for a couple of decades; 1) use a PVC glue primer before gluing together. The primer allows for a better bond between your 2 pieces. 2) beveling the outer edge of the end of the pipe isn’t required, but it makes joining together so much easier. 3) if you’re putting anything that can rust inside you will definitely want to put some desiccant inside to absorb moisture from the air that you sealed inside with it.
Rice is a good dessicant
@@ARAW-__- and if you put enough in it it will help make it more crush proof.
Also purging with nitrogen will help as it eliminates oxygen inside the pipe.
@777hunterseeker probably not a common man solution, but still, good to know.
Hahaha, the entire time he was gluing, I couldn't help but repeat out loud, "No, prime it first. Please, prime it first. PRIME IT FIRST."
Yes, I talk to the screen like it can hear me. And yes, I am a bit looney.
I was a plumber for 7 years. PVC needs a primer on the pipe and the fittings and glue on both as well. Spin the fittings when you put them on the pipe. That helps ensure that the glue is properly applied for a good seal. I always wipe around the fittings with my finger to make sure it’s sealed. Also I suggest using teflon tape then pipe dope. You teach us a lot so I wanted to give back. I’m not saying that you are wrong but I know plumbing and thought I could help you learn something since you do so much for us. Much love and respect
thanks for watching
Those are great ideas but remember that the air that is in the pipe as you close cache will turn into moisture after you bury it. You need to include Silica gel or other type of desiccant absorbent material into the tube with your item to soak up the moisture caused by the trapped air. Maybe even rap your fire arm in an oily cloth then rap it in wax paper to keep it from rusting and to keep the oil from getting onto other things in the cache. Electronics and ammo also need desiccant absorbent material to keep moisture from getting to them. Food products, even can products can rust or mold because of the air in the tube. You can also use melted wax around the sealed cannister seams to keep moisture out. Bury cache below frost line if possible for less moisture. Great video over all.
the video was about making a cache
I'd toss some silica gel packets for moisture control or a camphor block as a corssion inhibiter.
You can get those free from your pharmacist. Those moisture desicant packets are in the dispensing bottles of most medications.
Why
@@moorshound3243any moisture that finds its way in, or just gets sealed inside the cache will tend to condensate into droplets, and moisture will, given enough time ruin or just corrode whateve😢you’re intending to keep safe and hidden.
Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video! Back in 1985 I took a trip up to Montana for an archery elk hunt. I took a piece of 6 inch pvc and made a container to hold my bow, A browning takedown 55lb. pull recurve, 12 arrows, spare bow string and my finger tabs. Still got all that stuff, still use it. Thanks for the video and jarring loose some memories! God Bless!
This is outstanding but go to the extra step and pack in ziplock bags and in the waterproof container
Awesome. If you bury this vertical with the screw off lid just under the surface of the soil you can come and add to or take out what you need from the cache. Since it’s vertical small stuff drops to the bottom. If the tube is long and you cannot reach the bottom add add a drain grate and tie some bank line to it like a cradle you can drop the grate to the bottom first and Everything that sits on the bottom can now be retrieved by simply pulling up the grate and all the small items will be sitting in the grate. No need to dig up the whole pipe.
When I did it for a living water and sewer we alway put glue on both pieces but hey it'll work it's not under pressure I'd think it would be fine without the dope and tape but it depends how careful you want to be
Remember to leave something to open your cache nearby!!! If you close it with a wrench, then you better leave a wrench nearby for when you come back. Or you’ll be sorry
I agree with a few others here. When you glued on the cap, you should have twisted it at least 1/4 turn. This spreads the glue without leaving straight lines of hardened glue which would allow water to seep down these grooves into the container. Been there. Done that. If water can, it will.
showed that a nice bead was around the cap and pipe. thanks for watching
Just wondering if he's ever gonna get back to his 2 story cabin/deer stand or maybe his sandbag dugout projects?
Same.
ask youtube when they will circulate, and I will put in 30 hours
I don't think that's the issue. You look at those videos and they have 100k or 200k plus views. Compare your old overnight shelter building videos to the ones you do now and the views don't even compare. I love your videos and will watch them all, but the old ones are way more enjoyable.
Although videos like this are educational, I did like his building/overnighter better.
Nice video. Like this one alot. Good timeless information and very useful. Thank you good sir,
Don't underestimate the power of constantly changing athmospheric pressure when trying to waterproof items - especially PVC is known for getting brittle over time, that might lead to fatigue cracking. I wouldn't add any extra seal to the lid but seal the items in a heavy-duty plastic poly-ethelene bag (single or the whole bunch) . The plastic bag is for waterproofing, the container helps against mechanical stress.
Great Video. Grew up with my Dad doing this at our hunting cabin. Only thing i would add, Is he always used a pair of my moms old nylon stockings to make up packets of rice. to absorb any moisture, Of course nowadays you can use disiccant packs
I live a 2 1/2 hours hike out my back door to the back side of Yosemite. I have 2 of these buried along the way. I used black ABS and the expanding rubber test plug with the large wingnut. They are literally packed with everything, an iron, first aid kit, fishing gear and bait, food, coffee, Sawyer, stove, ect... When the SHTF and you have bugout, what would you do for protection if you didn't have an iron and confronted by a zombie?
Land pirate booties. Nice. Could also do sunken floaties in pond or similar. Cheers.
I have seen one other person do this besides you, Corp Killy. He hid water and food for his hunting trips in the Ruby Mountains.
Personally I’d add a 55 gallon construction grade trash can liner over it and bury lid down. But that’s other things I’ve heard to do as well
A good common sense use for a cache. Having some items stashed might save a trip back to get something you forgot
Spread hide area with bits of rusted metal junk to discourage metal detector users, no one likes digging junk.
Use primer before gluing. Use silicone sealer between your lid and the top plate (outer edge) to give a waterproof seal. It is easy to scrape off when needed.
i will read the instructions that state primer isnt needed
Corporal AF, Shawn. The only thing I’d add is to be sure to add a dessicant to the contents of your cache before you seal it. That will help prevent rusting of the contents.
I have 2 thoughts here. First, if all items inside the cache are waterproofed, for instance in vacuum sealed bags, the cache itself doesnt need to be so sealed it cant be opened with bare hands. The tube will physically protect the plastic bags from puncture. Either that or bury the tool with the cache. Second, absolutely if burying on land you dont own but also a serious consideration for trespassers and treasure seekers, if theres anything in the cache thats metal, bury it a foot or two below a rusty paint can and some nails. Anyone with a metal detector will find this decoy and not dig deeper.
I'm always putting things around the house in places I won't loose them. I'm pretty sure I have 10 rolls of Teflon tape but there's never one around when I need it😅🤣😂 Somebody might find my cache 200 years from now and wonder why some crack head buried a first aid kit in the woods🤷♂️
Take my comment sir. Enjoyed the video.
I was thinking, around the outside, around the outside.. you know when.
The final site looked great.
Was wondering how long before you touched on this?
OutFNstanding, Corporal!!!
Been doing this for over 20yrs. Have a few caches stashed around the property!
Semper Fi, Marine
I used 2-3 foot of 10 inch plain end schedule 80 pieces packed into my "hunting gear" in a Hunting hand cart right before deer season first year. I move to a new region.
I Buried 3 caches. Each in 3 different locations roughly 1/4 tanks worth of a drive from the home, & at least 3 miles out from the "would be ditched" vehicle & more than a mile away from commonly used easements, or trails.
1 thing I always try to follow when I can. bury next to or under an old fence post.
Btw Legit thought the intro was a Land Boomer😅 should have read the title😂
An oldie but a goodie! 35 years ago I had a cache just like your large one in the woods behind the house, 35 paces due East of the NE corner of the house. Sold the place 25 years ago, I've wondered if the new owner ever found it, as it was under a rock (like you did) and it might be something someone who was there often might turn over. Emptied it except for a note before leaving the last day there.
always wrap a firearm in a oil cloth to help with moisture condensation happens everywhere
thanks for watching
Ues a silicone impregnated gun sock to store your weapons in prior to storing them in the tubes and if you put about 4 " of #6 stone in the hole it will give proper drainage for any water or accumulated moisture in that storage hole lessening that chance of possible sitting in constant moisture environment
Also using silicone dry packets in the tubes definitely helps too !
Most important thing
DONT FORGET WHERE YOU BURIED THEM 🤪😂
great outta sight outta mind storage ideas! 😎💪🤙
I will say from experience make sure to mark the exact spot with something solid and natural to the area like he did with the rock . I buried the top of mine at 2 feet and when I returned two years later to check the contents for exposure I had to dig far more than needed to locate it.
Put glue on both pieces, softens the PVC for better bond.
yet the pipe isnt under pressure and it will be fine
@@recall5811burring it under the ground doesn’t add pressure to the outside lol simpleton
Im out here with my metal detector getting this cache.thank you
I would also add some packets of desiccant, to get rid of that pesty moisture that we might accumulate in there
Loved the fact that you're using last week's mallet to seat it home. LOL
Also, I always have 1 or 2 heavy mill internal plastic bag(s) on the inside. Or something like an MSR dry bag or any dry bag with straps. Something that is not only is a moister barrier, but gives you something to carry the contents in once you dig it up.
There are so many expert cache-stashers in the comments section today it's amazing!
Well we are a community of preppers so odds are a lot of us have made a cache/stash and if it was successful you’re an expert, it’s not like you need 10,000hrs to be a cache expert.
usually a lot of experts on every video and most have no videos or experience to show for it
@@InimitaPaul Oh okay *LOL*

Always Outstanding AF.
Great video sir.
Good points. A friend had a cache set up for about 12 years or so. He went to retrieve it since he was moving to another state. When he found the location, with GPS coordinates, he found a parking lot at a new store. OOPS! So be sure you check the area periodically so you don't lose an expensive cache.
I hope he at least got a lemon squishy.
😂 I just came to comments to see if the primer nazis showed up, and they didn’t disappoint! Thanks for the video man!
i did this years ago in the mountains with ammo....left for a bit and when i came back.. damned if they hadnt strip mined the entire location...i suggest to do this on private or personally owned property..as he suggested.
National parks. Forests
Hey man, please do not slam the revolver home like that..cringe to us gun boys!I have made these for my fishing rods..
thanks for watching
Good video, thanks for sharing ,YAH bless !
Outstanding video sir. And just in time.
The primer will clean any dirt and oil. Glue both surfaces and twist as you push together.
thanks for wathcing
Shawn, Outstanding Video and Information AF, Thanks Again For Keeping It Real!!
Put the tubes in the ground with the openings on the bottom, not top up as you've shown. That's the only way to keep water out.
thanks for watching
I have used 10 inch pvc to make a fuel tank dispenser just like nascar!
I've done this many times using moisture packs too, paint them camo if they get exposed, and note where they are (coded email) or printed sheet codes .... yah maybe I'm paranoid (just a little lol) ........... good video.
I would like to hear your thoughts on the societal landscape of today. I don't mean your political affiliations at all. I remember corprals final thoughts and you always dropped some very insightful ideas. Good luck to you on your journey, I wish you and your family the best
Preparation is everything! Your life may depend on it! Use pvc cleaner, primer and plenty of cement on the pipe , and on the inside of the fittings , silica gel ,a moisture lock baby diaper in the bottom of the cache. Clean and grease( Marine grease or cosmolone) fire arms. Seal in heavy duty plastic vacuum bags.
I have made a few of these and buried them through my backyard, five years ago and last month all of are still dry.
For Cache camouflage, remember, many times less “litter” thrown around is better. Make it look natural. Thanks for this Cpl.
Outstanding. I ALLEGEDLY used 6 foot by 6 inch pvc pipe to store a first aid kit, a small pot filled with,,fire starter, pocket knife, fishing gear, small backpack. 2 or 3 Quilted space blanket may be a survival weapon, emergency food ration bars. Bank line, folding saw, hunting knife, and water filter.
Thanks for the tips Corporal!
With so many sites just being anything but survival you are the only real guy, thanks Sean !!!
most talk from the landlords backyard
I thought about doing this with my son at a conservation that we go camping at.
1 it doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic through out the year. Maybe 100 people a year and that’s mainly summer time holidays.
2. They have a no digging rule. Yes obviously I’d be breaking that rule. (BUT) it would be less likely for someone to accidentally dig it up.
3. You could always bury your cache deeper than needed and put a few inches of dirt above it with a decoy cache on top if you were worried about it being dug up.
Coffee… definitely store coffee!
Good call
Yes, coffee is life!!
Must have coffee.
Oh yes! Coffee, the magic elixir! But K-Cups may not be the best choice. Bulk ground or instant coffee would seem to be the best selection.
Ground stays frozen for six months and average 5’ of snow. I tend to hang buckets and paint cans in trees.
I guess if you really wanted to get serious with it ,whatever you're going to put in it, use a vacuum sealer on what you're going to put in there to get the air away from it. Put a diaper in it to absorb moisture that gets in the pipe. Maybe caulk around the joints.
It’s called my parents house. Ahahah😂 I figure I have to go see how they are doing anyway on the way to where I have to get to. It would be cool if you buried those and came back to them a year from now to see how they are doing.
Don't forget desiccant, especially for humid areas as you will seal humid air inside.
New camera brother? Clear and great natural colour.
Love your work as always.

Areas near roads may see road work. Governments have rights to the easement areas. In court, the government usually wins any disputes regarding easement areas.
Silica gel crystals cat litter...desicant and spray rubber outer coating...
Ahhh as always another Awesome video..!!! And thank you sir..!!!
When I’m in the woods I look for stuff like this . I’m taking you cash if I find it.
Cool subject matter.
Pro Tip:
If you have trash or scrap on your property.
Bury it underneath.😉
The big one is for the bacon.
That hammer is amazing 😅
Great idea 👍....Thanks
Good idea for making, burying a time capsule.
🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓
I would add a rustproof firearm bag as extra protection
the video was on making a cache, add whatever you want
Loving that wallet! Ezekiel 25:17
7:25 Oh boy. You cowboy'd it. People are going to lose their shit in the comments.
😊😊😊
I love when the rim meets the lip. Perfection.
A lot of people make videos about that for sure.
Cool video as usual..you may want to use primer before the PVC glue for the best adhesion even with glue that can be used without..thank you for the content!
never had a problem
This is an old concept but nice tweaks and nuisances on your process 👍🏻

Keep up the excellent content and encouragement .
Asking for someone i dont know: how big pipe is needed to bury a mother in law? 🤪😉

All you need is strong acid and a bathtub.
@@obsever97...or the right hog farmer.
I saw the thumbnail with the PVC pipes and thought Shawn had finally given into his inner Ted Kaczynski, retreated to his cabin in the woods and started building Burt Gummer specials out of household chemicals in the proper proportions.
Excellent video. Firmly believe in PVC projects for fishing, camping, hiking, storing gear etc. I normally label mine with a black marker pen so I can remember what I put in the damn thing.
Shawn, why invite MURPHY into the equation?? At 9m 10s of the video, you place your cache with the LID in the upright position, IF you have a good seal on the bottom cap, put the BOTTOM IN THE URUGHT position so the bottom cap can take the brunt of the FUTURE dig up, PLUS with the cache in the upside down position it is akin to putting a GLASS INTO WATER, THE TRAPPED AIR WITH ALWAYS KEEP OUT ANY WATER that maybe is present or seep around your cache.....just sayin' 😳👍👍👍
Just place an oversized cap cover over the screw in end.... done deal.
Waterproof it by putting it in a trash bag first. 😂😂
when pvc is buried in the ground and has a cleanout or an access cap is it buried upside down, no it isnt
Digging down to the top and unscrewing it and removing the contents, is easier than digging about 3/4 of the way down, around it, until you can rock it free, then open it. Once you have to dig up something buried vertically, you'll understand.
That business of flipping the cylinder shut on what appears to be a revolver is bad gun handling. That will spring the yoke/crane and cause timing issues. Otherwise a great video. Thank you. 🦬
I use surplus morter round tube, plastic with a rubber o ring on the threaded cap. I use for food or water caches for back packing trips.
Dakujem pekne pán desiatnik.
Bury below frost line, or changing temperatures in the soil will cause condensation with metal contants.
I remember reading about doing this from Ragnar Benson. Deciding where to put the cash can be difficult butt it's a cheap and effective way to store equipment
Careful you don't out-gas! No screw cap to lock up. V slippery and standard cap - I hear is much more versatile...that's what Karl taught.
Thanks for reminding people to bury their stuff however. Even if it's a deuce. Don't get me wrong.
One day, I expect everyone hungry to survive, to look like squirrels in the woods.
Hidden AF. Outstanding AF. 🤫😎
Outstanding A.F video my friend
Brilliant! I just have 3 of 6 inch pipes! When you put in ground, lid goes down, not up.
Great video. I've always been fascinated with the idea of survival caches. The one thing that always worries me though is if someone else finds it especially in the first few days when it going to be easy to see the disturbed ground or area you've hidden it at. I would really only consider doing this is it was stuff that I could afford to lose. Still a great way to prepare.
Enjoyed the video.
Surely you would then need a wrench or spend ages whittling a massive wooden spanner ha!
Great stuff sir thanks for posting.
How about two branches with ends tied tight on both sides of the square PVC cap with paracord, string or shoe laces if needed. You would have leverage based on length of sticks
Actually modifying my own idea. Just tie the ends of the two sticks with one cord. Place on the square nut and squeeze sticks together to tighten
“Easy peasy, lemon ….” well, you know
