Omg cant thank you enough... My rabbit literally couldn't eat in the past 2 days and I panicked thinking that he probably will die because they closed the vet dadada.... he didnt poop aswell but thanks to 30 m constantly massaging his belly he finally pooped and is now eating like a horse IM SO HAPPY OMG
You should do a video on what to expect during GI Stasis and what to expect after, like how the stool changes size etc and how unflavored Pedialyte can also help, I love your videos ❤️
Oh thank you so much Abby, my female Holland Lop has not been eating since yesterday and has be very lethargic, I took her to the vet today they gave her some pain medicine and said if she didn't eat by tomorrow then to bring her back I've been syringe feeding her and I just gave her some pineapple juice thank you so much! 💙
@Indian culture I gave a little syringe of pineapple juice a couple times a day along with the blended up food untill she started eating by herself again. It took a few days before she started eating by herself.
THANK YOU STORMYRABBITS! Our rabbit Aurora was suffering from GI Statis but is recovering from it thanks to your good advice! It had stopped eating, pooping and hopping but after a week of medical treatment, force feeding, eating lettuce and patience it regained her energy and is now back to its normal behaviour! :)
my bunny bro died on 25 jan 2018 I couldn't able to save him I found this video too late. I will be sure for my next bunny bro. R.I.P. GOLU, see u again bro
I've been watching your videos for 4 years. THANK YOU soooooo much for your love and expertise in Rabbit care. You helped me save one of my little girls yesterday with this video. I hope you know how many bunnies you've touched and owners you've inspired! Many blessings and genuine love for what you do. Keep hopping!!! 😍🐇🐇🐾🧡💜💙
Great Video...thanks for sharing ....my Bun was not feeling well yesterday and so watched him closely...he had all the signs of a GI Stasis so started critical care, he refused his fav treats AND NEVER DOES THAT!...I took his temp and it was a bit low(either that or it was the battery in my Thermometer) so I worked from there...warmed him up.....decided that I would get no rest till I brought him into the late night ER vet, so put in a couple wrapped up warm, hot water bottles his for low temp and put in his side kick since they are very bonded and off I went at 3am...his diagnose was what I guessed it was, so he gave him a subC fluids for hydration( just incase) and a shot of Metoclopramide to get things moving.....so got up after 4 hrs of sleep to check on him and he was just hanging out....so I started to feed him OXBOW Critical Care that I keep in my Emergency rabbit box...and warming him up at the same time in a towel as I fed him... and after he was feeling so much better...still not eating on his own but clearly feeling better, he looks at his food as to go and eat but does not....will continue to feed him CC for the next couple days or longer if he still is not eating the way Id like him to....I will do this every 4 -6 hrs.....OH by the way he did poop right after eating :) :) :) We have 3 rabbits and have never been sick before....this was my first time with this and was taking no chances....glad the ER vet was only $135.00......acted fast and glad I did! :) know your bunnies well people! so you can tell when things are just not as they should be! :)
You did an awesome job on the video!!! Glad someone did a thorough video on GI stasis finally! I can say having these things on hand is important... baby gas drops, having critical care on hand, having extra pain meds, having a good rabbit savy vet and becoming educated as owners has saved our rabbits plenty of times and turned them around within 24 hrs of noticing their in GI stasis. FYI if anyone's in the US Critical Care can be purchased off of Amazon.com for $9 for the small pouch of apple/banana flavor, baby gas drops for $3 at Walmart generic brand in the medication section it's also called simethicone infant gas relief (make sure they're unflavored, and dye free).
I live on a farm and the nearest vet is 26 hours of driving!!! Im stressed out! My bunny wont eat! Edit: He's ok!! He got GI stasis and I had some at home from years ago
Thank you so much! I just followed your advise and massaged my rabbits bloated stomach, and fed it pellets. It just pooped for the first time in 20 hours. Such a helpful video!
This is an excellent video. One thing I would add though is.... the safe thing to do if your rabbit has GI stasis is to immediately hydrate by syringing electrolytes, I say safe, because if you syringe food if there is a blockage it will add to the blockage and can make it worse. Hydrating is important because a rabbit can not digest food unless it is fully hydrated and if the rabbit hasn't been eating it probably hasn't been drinking either and needs hydration. The pineapple juice has always been controversial with some experts like Dana Krempels (famous PHD rabbit expert) saying that enzymes in pineapple is a myth and too much sugar in pineapple juice may feed bad bacteria and create more gas, however, other vet/experts still swear by fresh pineapple juice. Personally, I would just go with syringing 15cc electrolyte solution, 1cc semethicone, and bene-bac probiotics- wait two hours and then syringe 15cc more electrolyte solution. If rabbit is still not eating within eight hours it needs to go to the vet.
Thank you very much for sharing, my bunny just fought for her serious gut blockage for three days, she was in a very critical condition, which is no eating no drinking no pooping and no urine...I gave her more than an hour massage and psyllium hush powder mixed water a lot (50ml
Thank you so much for helping my rabbit. She not was pooping for a long time. So I did belly massage and she poop a lot and now she is all better thx you so much
Very informative video! One of my rabbits passed away due to GI stasis after her spay (she stopped eating, became depressed and went into stasis), we got her to the vets within 12 hours and we were given medication (metacam) and recovery food "recovery plus", we gave her these as instructed but one evening I found her lying dead, but this was a very helpful video :) x
Thank you I found this very helpful I took my rabbit to the vets as soon as he stopped eating my vet was useless,he was given antibiotic and I managed to get water in him but the syringe he gave would not work for the food I prepared as a result my rabbit got liver disease within a day,I took him back to the vets and he put him on a drip when I took this beautifully natured pet home he passed away. So please anyone make sure you have a decent syringe in your home I’m fully equipped now for my other bunnies.
thank you very much for the info. after doing a lot lot of research about this gi stasis i will be getting a rabbit tomorrow. i am so so worry about the problem and i hope this info will help me soon. thank you very much.
my rabbit didn’t get it in the entire first year we had her, but she had it after the 4th of july bc the fireworks stressed her out, then again in december for some reason, and she seems to have it again now from the new years fireworks. just make sure to monitor your bunny a lot!!
I agree 100% veggies including broccoli do not cause GI stasis fresh food & high fiber food prevent stasis. Too many pellets, not enough exercise, small enclosures, low fiber diet and hair blockage are the most common causes. I have a video about this coming soon 🐰❤️
Treating a bunny with GI tract solutions if they have a blockage can make the blockage worse. But critical care also hydrates the bunny, especially if it's watery, which helps to hydrate their intestines and try to move the blockage.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to save my rabbit I woke up and she was acting weird and not eating and tried all I could and took her to the vet but the vet was unhelpful and told me she was fine. I wake up in the middle of the night after thinking she was doing better and she is dead.
My rabbit has this. It’s heart breaking.. his digestive system completely stopped and he’s working to get better. He’s been doing better, but unfortunately, there’s still a 50/50 chance
Awesome video!! This is really informative and will help plenty of people!! I've never heard of GI Statis before, so I'll now know what to look out for :) In the future I'll know to talk about this in my video about health and diseases in rabbits in the future and say that I got the info from you =) With the syringe feeding, when one of my rabbits, Harley, had his leg amputated, he had to have his medicine through syringe and the poor little guy hated it D= I hope Storm is getting better?? :)
It’s also a great idea to ask your vet for a home supply of Cisapride for those “in case of emergency” preparations. It can definitely help save your rabbits life in times like this and is great to have for weekends or times when you can’t get to the vet immediately. Obviously only do this under the advice of your vet, but it is a great idea to have a small amount at home to use UNTIL you are able to get your rabbit in to see it’s vet.
If the GI Stasis is just due to gas most ppl don't know this but all they have to do is just message the Bunny's Belly. There is a specific technique so just youtube it.. it's that simple. At this point it is not wise to force feed the Bunny which will make the condition worse.. most knowledgeable Vet will tell you this. Just feel your rabbit by it's ribs underneath if it feels rock hard then it's due to gas. This happened to my little Henny & it worked. She wasn't eating & hunched in pain. I elevated her hind legs and gently pushed her belly side to side. She came out of it and started eating again. Luckily she hasn't been sick since. Over-treating unnecessarily can cause more stress & illness.
Yououo Y obviously she cares about them so yes she would have been scared. What kind of question is that? Would YOU be scared if you had an animal that had a life-threatening condition??? 😑
Our bunny started to eat less but didn't stop completely so we started to syringe feed her to encourage her to get back to eating normal amounts. After a few days, she seemed to improve and was still quite energetic so we didn't take her to the vet. On the third day she suddenly became weak and was in pain so we took her straight to the vet and he could feel immediately she had a hugely bloated tummy as all the food she had eaten was just getting blocked and then compressed and her intestine was filled with gas. She had to have a long operation (about two hours) and sadly passed away from a heart attack whilst she was in recovery. I would say for any bunny owners to just take them within 12 hours of showing even a small change in their behavior (eating less, hunching, grinding teeth, sitting differently etc) even if they are still eating some solid food. We got caught out because many times GI stasis is caused by something minor and you can treat them with syringe feeding for a few days whilst you determine the cause of their issue and take them to the vet. The problem with this approach is that sometimes when they show signs of illness they can already be critically ill and therefore you can never be too careful. It is expensive to take them to the vet so it is something that needs to be factored in before you own one. They are so good at hiding their illness. We have lost two bunnies now (the other had a liver disease) I feel responsible I didn't take ours to the vet sooner but didn't understand how serious the situation was :(. We miss her so much it's really hard to deal with. She was in a bonded pair and her partner is on his own now. The vet said because he is so sociable it is cruel to leave him alone but I don't know if I can take loosing more. Probably we will get another one but need to be so careful with them. We read a lot about proper diet and are very careful to make their environment safe (we keep ours totally free running in the living room and they use the litter tray really well) and are always checking their weight, taking them to the vet etc etc and we still lost two in just two years.
For anyone else whose bunny struggles with gut motility, Bene-Bac Plus by Pet Ag significantly decreased the number of bouts for mine! I give him a dose each day in his veggies.
Lovely video! It was very informational! Some people don't know the importance of hay! The shelter I adopted my rabbit from fed a handful of hay every 2 days per rabbit! Luckily he doesn't have GI Stasis! But all the other rabbits there are definitely at risk. I honestly hate that shelter because they do LOTS of things wrong. I don't know if I should continue adopting rabbits from them because of this, but we'll see! He's not a hay lover... He prefer pellets. But I feed him a very small amount of pellets to get him to eat more hay. I'm planning on switching the brand of hay I feed him because he isn't an Oxbow rabbit! How much veggies do your rabbits get per day? :)
My rabbit has it. I took him to the vet and have been feeding him by hand, giving him his meds, and giving him water through a syringe. Im really hoping he will recover. He's my favorite pet I've ever had and I've had him over 5 years 😭
Idk what to do, my rabbit is eating but he has had gas for about a week and now I'm panicking because I dont know if I should have taken him to the vet already
my rabbit has diarrhea i just discovered it today but a day before i noticed an area on my rug a wet poo but i ignored it because their poop was still dry as usual. then early today there are a lot of wet poo on the rug so i cleaned their area. its already night time and my little bugs has still diarrhea i already cleaned his butt twice this day and it keeps sticking on his fur and tail. she has a roommate her name is lola should i separate them? i noticed this after feeding them romaine lettuce which they have been ignoring. but i already removed any food in the space i only left water and hay. what do you think i should do since i cant find a bunny vet in my area and there is no crittercare available here and if ever i find online it will still be shipped im really worried about my little bugs. please help me.
My bunny has gas but she eats and drinks a lot not too much tho and i get her out at 5 am and put her back in her pin before i sleep but she poops she just sits in that position we don't have money to take her to a vet the person we got her from was a breeder i had her for 2 weeks
Give him 5ml with a syringe of pineapple juice and then 5ml warm water that will help If he has a blockage (fur) that happen to my bunny he wasn't eating at all nor he. Was pooping or peeing obviously he was not moving same u could feel he's bone was weak after I gave him that's the next day he poop a little bit and eat gave hime the same in dose 24hr pineapple after thr first o n.v e he was popping more. It feel so frustrated, also critical care it's good if ur bunny is not eating. Oxbow Natural Science Digestive Support Hay Tabs, and they have urine also
@@user-pf4hc7de1x thank you so much for this advice I know I am not the person you wrote it to. but I did this and then went and got simethicone and when I got back she was already eating some food.
After $700 dollars in vet care (X-rays , blood work, fecal and urine samples) the vet told me my bunny had “some gas” and bladder stones. She perceived pain meds, antibiotics for the bladder stones and a probiotic . My bunny did well for about a week almost two after that . Two days ago, her tummy inflated again and I don’t have the money to redo all those tests which is what the vet recommended when I called her. Prior to this time, the infant gas drops have helped my bunny. This time, they are not doing anything. I keep administering it and I’m give her metacam for pain. At this point, she’s in severe pain I can see it. I gave her the pineapple juice and she pooped right after quite a bit and seems perkier. However, her belly is still sore and bloated. I am thinking of humanely euthanizing , i don’t know what else to do . Any suggestions ???
What do I do my mom will let me have a rabbit but doesn’t want anything to do with it same with my dad and I’m going to need help once in a while plus THIS follows up with the vet I’m scared they won’t even care they’re not bad ppl but it’s complicated so this is why I’m watching these videos just need help here
Thank you all so much my rabbit is not eating an drink strated yesterday an I'm going to do what you have suggested thank you all so much I'm hoping this will save my rabbit. 😁
My rabbit just lost her bond mate and I think she is finally realizing it and I’m watching her to make sure she is doing good so I feel like this is stuff Is something i may need just in case🥺
I think that could mean there's a blockage in between the stomach and intestines. I'm going through a similar thing right now and enemas are something to look into. Dana Krempels has an instructional page on enemas and ileus.
Thank you very much, wish i have watched this video since. Do you know what? I made mistake not even up to hour ago, I gave my rabbit anti biotici (ampiclox ). For more than 2 weeks now one of my rabbit out of six (6) is not eating and stays in an isolation, it doesn't hop around as usual and it has loss weight too, we stay in a very remote area, no vets here at all, when I travel out I forget but remember Immedetely I step in to my house. Please help me out, I just make pineapple juice as you said, can I still give it the juice now?
My rabbit doesn't get as much exercise as he should but only because me and my family aren't at home as much. I wish he got more exercise but I know it can't happen at the moment any tips?
my bunny is new and I want to target train him off your video but he won't even eat the treats also I make a noise but he doesn't even flinch he just licks his body what do I do? @
When I got a rabbit my mom said that I had to take care of her. I did so much research on rabbits. I got critical care and syringes in case she gets it(mostly because my last rabbit dies of Gi stasis) ---- But what if you can't afford to go to the vet. What should we do
My sisters rabbit is a runt and always seemed to be in a tight curled up position or hunched over. Is this just because she's really small and fluffly or what?! They're Holland Lops BTW and I'm really nervous
Thanks my rabbits are eating machines and always lay on there sides with huge bellies I thought it could be gi stasis but they are eating machines so I guess they have it when there not eating? Thanks for the video
my rabbit is still eating fine but her poops seem a bit smaller than usual, should I be worried? today she gets her fruits and she kinda had a little more then usual but she only gets them once a week, should I cut back on the fruit?
Thankyou my bunny was put down today and im upset that the vet wouldnt treat with anti biotics or anything instead they talked me into signing a bit of paper to have bunny put down and they didnt even try to help bunny i couldnt pay for the treatment anyway and for that reason they put bunny down. Its all about the money and these vets are loaded they dont give a f...! About your rabbit Now if it was a family dog then thats different isnt it well they aint getting the £100 from me NOW thanks for the info.
Sherwood Recovery is better, Pineapple juice is too much sugar and can cause bloat if the rabbit is in Stasis. Use Famotidine, sub q fluids and heat. It's totally magic. Within 5 hours your rabbit will be eating again. I have been rescuing rabbit for 35 years, I am a vet trying Educator.
I use canned pineapple juice it did help my bunny give him 5ml pineapple juice and 5ml warm water next day he poop a little but then I gave hime the same dose and his pooping and urine more
Too much pineapple juice-which is EXTREMELY high in sugar!-can make their digestive illness much worse! I would not give this; it’s too risky. Otherwise, this is a great video. Thank you.
Omg cant thank you enough... Can we give the electrolyte solution that we humans drink?

My rabbit stopped pooping this morning but is still eating should I be worried ?!?!
Mine drinks water, but barely eats now. I’ll find out tomorrow at the vet. She’ll eat a little hay, but no pellets.
JennyAtYourService! 1 Cup of Veggies per 3 pounds that your rabbit is. Once a day
Thanks for sharing this video. Nice name for your channel.
My rabbit 🐇 name is Princess 👑 Stormy
My rabbit has it. I took him to the vet and have been feeding him by hand, giving him his meds, and giving him water through a syringe. Im really hoping he will recover. He's my favorite pet I've ever had and I've had him over 5 years 😭

What do I do my mom will let me have a rabbit but doesn’t want anything to do with it same with my dad and I’m going to need help once in a while plus THIS follows up with the vet I’m scared they won’t even care they’re not bad ppl but it’s complicated so this is why I’m watching these videos just need help here
What brand of pineapple juice do u use?
Thank you all so much my rabbit is not eating an drink strated yesterday an I'm going to do what you have suggested thank you all so much I'm hoping this will save my rabbit. 😁
My rabbit just lost her bond mate and I think she is finally realizing it and I’m watching her to make sure she is doing good so I feel like this is stuff Is something i may need just in case🥺
My bunny is 1 month old I got him from the pet store yesterday, he’s been eating, drinking, running around but he has not pooped!
Only a month? Theyre not supposed be away from their mother till after 7/8 weeks sis
my rabbit has not pooped in 4 days but it is still eating I'm not sure where to go from here
I think that could mean there's a blockage in between the stomach and intestines. I'm going through a similar thing right now and enemas are something to look into. Dana Krempels has an instructional page on enemas and ileus.
If your rabbit is a baby, which shouldn't be given veg is it ok to give pellets after the critical care is over
Thank you very much, wish i have watched this video since.
I wish he got more exercise but I know it can't happen at the moment any tips?

hello their is it true that small bunny are more less likely to get this then the bigger ones. thanks a lot.
How often do you force feed?
My bunnies poops are small and they always have been. He is not in stasis though. Any advice??
Thank you!!!
My rabbit curently having GI Stasis, we dont have a vet in the city, what can i do? What can i feed to my rabbit besides pineapple juice?
What treats do you guys recommend for picky bunnys?
omg thank god i found this video my bunny is sick with gi stasis and i did not know what to do
For the infant gas relief drops, what kind should I use??? The ones for rabbits? Or the ones for babies??
For babies, the stuff ONLY for babies.
Can you talk about veggies to give the bunnies
When I got a rabbit my mom said that I had to take care of her. I did so much research on rabbits. I got critical care and syringes in case she gets it(mostly because my last rabbit dies of Gi stasis)
----
But what if you can't afford to go to the vet. What should we do
Ellen McDaniel Don't get a pet if you can't afford veterinary treatment. It's not rocket science.
Can you also make video about litter box
is it ok if i give my rabbit fresh pineapple ?
Hey abby the pineapple juice can be be from the supermarket or organic?
It could be either, just make sure it doesn't have added sugar.
My sisters rabbit is a runt and always seemed to be in a tight curled up position or hunched over. Is this just because she's really small and fluffly or what?! They're Holland Lops BTW and I'm really nervous
Tundra Ponies are your sisters bunnies ok
Thanks my rabbits are eating machines and always lay on there sides with huge bellies I thought it could be gi stasis but they are eating machines so I guess they have it when there not eating? Thanks for the video
Hi..i dont know..my rabbit's poo comes with mucus..is it gi stasis or something?but he eats as usual.. I'm so scared right now..😭😭

after your rabbit is 1 year old, do you give veggies twice a day, or just once?
animalwhisperer275 16 1 Cup of Veggies per 3 pounds that your rabbit is. Once a day
my rabbit is still eating fine but her poops seem a bit smaller than usual, should I be worried? today she gets her fruits and she kinda had a little more then usual but she only gets them once a week, should I cut back on the fruit?
no if she has a blockage that will break it up
My rabbit does like to run around at all
Thankyou my bunny was put down today and im upset that the vet wouldnt treat with anti biotics or anything instead they talked me into signing a bit of paper to have bunny put down and they didnt even try to help bunny i couldnt pay for the treatment anyway and for that reason they put bunny down. Its all about the money and these vets are loaded they dont give a f...! About your rabbit Now if it was a family dog then thats different isnt it well they aint getting the £100 from me NOW thanks for the info.
Urbun Spirituk, u shouldn't have a rabbit if you can't afford a problem
@@buckeyechance1097 Gosh you are horrible.
hey my rabbit kept drooling is this normal ?
Backyard Rabbits 101, no take them to the vet
Brandi Betke I think u said that a little too late
@@laurak.5731...Maybe 😂😂
Sherwood Recovery is better, Pineapple juice is too much sugar and can cause bloat if the rabbit is in Stasis. Use Famotidine, sub q fluids and heat. It's totally magic. Within 5 hours your rabbit will be eating again. I have been rescuing rabbit for 35 years, I am a vet trying Educator.
hello! thank you, can I use canned pineapple juice?
I use canned pineapple juice it did help my bunny give him 5ml pineapple juice and 5ml warm water next day he poop a little but then I gave hime the same dose and his pooping and urine more
I have a dwarf bunny
can you just put pineapple juice in their water bottle
our bunnies are angora/lionhead cross.
Has either of your rabbits ever had g.i. stasis?
Yes they both have.
Too much pineapple juice-which is EXTREMELY high in sugar!-can make their digestive illness much worse! I would not give this; it’s too risky.
Otherwise, this is a great video. Thank you.
where do you buy critical care?
+Hannah Reed I got mine from Amazon
Okay thanks!
