Build bench chair shoe rack using kerf bending

A few days ago, I have built shoe rack using 18t birch plywood.
It has a fucntion of bench chair, too.
Shoe rack's width 1170, depth 320, height 450 in millimeter.
I use long plywood board to make shoe rack's side board and top board continuously.
To caculate length of top and side board.
1. determine radius of bending part. mine is 50mm
2. bended length = a quarter of circumference (2x3.14x50)/4 = 78.5
3. length of flat top part is 1170 - 50 - 50 = 1070
4. hieght of each side board is 450 - 50 = 400
5. needed total length = 1070 + 400 + 400 + 157 = 2027mm
테이블쏘 위에서 합판을 자를 때 합판을 완전히 자르는게 아니라 톱날 위에 손을 올리고 작업했습니다. 당시에는 별 문제없다고 느꼈으나 지금와 생각해보니 푸시블럭을 쓰는 등 더 안전한 방법이 있었습니다. 일주일 전부터 이 영상의 조회수가 빠르게 늘어나고 있어서 해당 작업은 위험성이 있었다는 점을 알려드려야 될 것 같아 별도 댓글을 작성합니다.
In this video. When I make kerf on tablesaw, I put my hand over blade. The height of blade is smaller(lower) than thickness of plywood, so I feel safe at that time. but now I think it has high probability that bring about seriously injury. I had to find safer way. The number of views of this video is increasing since last week.(I don't konw why) so, I think I must tell viewers. Please use pushblock, it's very safer than using hands.

use a jig to press down on the board. DO NOT use your hand for this, no matter how low the blade is, don't turn it into a habit!

@@JGerm Thanks for your compliment about my work. As you said, at the aspect of woodworking machine I can't call myself as a amateur. But when I evaluate myself. I tend to think I haven't enough craftmanship to be qualified as a professional. I hope one day I can change my channel title to 'professional woodworker' : )

좋은 말씀 감사합니다. 목공이 취미에 불과하면서 장비와 공간 욕심을 버리지 못해 상업공방과 비견할만한 장비, 공간을 갖추는 상황까지 오게 됐습니다. 초기에는 환경이 받쳐주면 뭐라도 다 할 수 있을 것 같았는데 실상은 그렇진 않더군요. 특별히 좋은 장비없이 협소한 공간에서도 훨씬 기능적이고 창의적인 가구를 만드는 분들을 많이 보면서 결국 제일 중요한 것은 시간과 재능으로 쌓아올린 내공이라는 생각이 듭니다. 작업실을 언제까지 운영할 수 있을지는 모르겠지만 가능한한 오래 운영하면서 최대한 장비, 공간을 활용할 수 있게 노력하려고 합니다.

Beautiful result, good work! Just wondering, because I’m not a pro: Why use a plunge saw, then the table saw, then the sled? Why not use the table saw all the time? Any reason for that? Just wondering as I am inexperienced. :)
I think you asked essential part of woodworking process so it is hard to give you detail answer with only comment.
In short, First, 4'x8' birch plywood sheet is too heavy to lift and push on tablesaw. It is unstable and dangerous. Instead of moving plywood, moving saw(plungesaw) on lying plywood. It is stable and safe way for cutting 4'x8' heavy and large sheet.
Second, I use tablesaw for accurate and repeatable cutting. I can do that with plungesaw but it needs much setting and measuring work. but with (well tuned) tablesaw, I just need to move fence to wanted positions.
Third, I used sled to cut long and narrow stock to wanted length. If I didn't use sled there is high possibility for occur kickback and injury.

디자인 깔끔하고 기술적 요소를 숨기지 않고 드러낸 과감함에 박수를 치고 있습니다.
세가지 아쉬운 부분이 있네요.
1. 서랍의 바닥은 안쪽에 홈파서 끼워주는게 구조적으로도 사용상으로도 좋습니다. 아래면에서 본드로 고정하셨겠지만 위에서 고정된 방향으로 내리누르기 때문에 홈파서 4~5mm만 매립되어도 누르는 힘에 본드없이도 대응되고 내구도 면에서도 높습니다.
2. 의자의 구조상 대각선 틀어짐을 잡아줄수 있는 부분이 없습니다. 서랍재가 비슷한 역활을 할수 있지만 스툴로서의 기능을 할때 올라앉아 있는 사람이 이리저리 움직이면 서랍통이 물려서 나오지 못하게 될 수도 있게 됩니다. 조립할때 면을 맞춰주고 결합도 좋아 버틸수 있는 한계치가 높지만 서랍통의 뒷면으로 노출이 안되는 부분을 각맞춰 내부로 판재를 끼워넣어 준다면 스툴 자체의 흔들림을 잡아주면서 현재 보이는 디자인을 해치지 않게 될것입니다.
3. 나사 결합하실때 임팩드릴 사용보다는 충전드라이버드릴 의 토크클러치를 사용하시면 조금더 안전하고 쉽게 나사 사용하실수 있습니다. 임팩드릴은 특성상 나사 박히는 감으로 멈춰야 하지만 토크클러치가 있는 충전드릴에서는 나사 길이와 목재 종류등에 따라 특정한 토크설정 뒤 안전하고 든든하게 체결해줄 수 있습니다. 이미 가지고 계신 공구임에도 힘이 좋을것 같은 임팩을 사용하시는게 아쉬워 말씀드립니다. 드릴 종류에 따른 사용법을 찾아보시면.....

멋진 작품이네요 ^^ 자작합판 벤딩시 어떤 기술이 추가가 되어야 하나요? 저도 벤딩해보려고 테이블쏘로 톱자국 내고 구부려 봤는데 굽지않더라구요 남겨진 두께는 3mm이하로 얇게 했는데도 빳빳해서 혹시 수분 처리 등 필요한게있을까요?
안녕하세요. 저는 톱날간 간격을 3mm 정도로 하고 톱날 높이는 남은 부분의 두께가 1.5mm 정도로 얇게 했습니다. 남은 두께가 3mm 정도였다면 굽혀지는게 아니라 부러질 것 같네요.
별도의 수분처리를 하시는 분도 계시던데 저는 그냥 간격 3mm, 남은 두께 1.5mm 정도로 했습니다.

Amazing work, but how to covering the Kerf corners ?
Thanks : ) I didn't cover bending section intentionally. I think it is kinds of design. If I should cover bendind section I'll use thin piece of wood that cutted with same shape of bending section.
I'm trying to do something similar with kerf bending but I'd like to have edge banding to match plywood veneer. Any idea how to do the radius with edge banding to hide the kerf?
I can't find the way to cover bended section with edge banding film either. but I think thin piece of wood shaped as bended part may be works.
Use solid wood edge banding for the whole thing, not iron on stuff and cut to that contour, you can cover the kerf cuts inside as well with veneer to completely hide the process, Michael alm has a good video about it

작업물의 내경은 수직으로 밴딩해보고 실측으로 구하는 건지 아니면
어떤 노하우가 있어서 미리 정해진 내경으로 밴딩을 하시는 건지 궁금합니다
저의 머릿 속으로 생각하기에는 좌우를 직각으로 밴딩해서 내경을 측정하는 방법 밖에 떠오르지가 않습니다
조언 부탁드립니다
해당 동영상 설명에 관련된 내용을 적어놓긴 하였으나 내경을 구하는 부분은 구체적으로 언급해놓지 않았습니다. 질문해주신 참에 다른 분들도 궁금해하실 수 있을 것 같아 커뮤니티 메뉴에 이미지로 그려서 올려두었으니 참고해주세요.
결론적으로 내경은 실측하지 않고 밴딩될 부분의 반지름, 합판의 두께, 내부 선반이 결합될 홈의 깊이로 계산하였습니다.
밴딩부의 반지름을 50mm로 정하고 밴치 상판의 평평한 부분 길이를 T, 합판 두께 18mm, 합판 턱 깊이를 5mm로 할 때 내부선반의 길이는 T+(50x2)-(18x2)+(5x2) 입니다.

Utter nonsense, had his hands been in the wrong place he'd of lost a finger. Seriously! Any one with any degree of common sense knows that if you concentrate, know your kit, know the material you're working with and do all this in a space with as little distraction as possible not much will go wrong. Think ahead and be conscious of the sharp spinny thing!! That's it.. it's not rocket science. Stupid people who have no place even using a table saw are predominantly those who get caught out.. for goodness sake I've had no formal training I've been using table saws and other huge pieces of kit for 30 years and not once have I had any form of accident. There's always one person who has to point out that in their opinion the person in the video is doing it wrong.. it's pathetic and utterly ridiculous. The guy did a great job, and as far as I was concerned stayed far enough away from the blade for him to feel safe! Not you! Him! Good grief get over your self and go buy a saw stop like the other idiots who can't use kit properly.
