The big question here is why no google searches come up about accounts being hacked and phones randomly going to pages after installing the app. Several people at work have told me this and deleted the app. Bad thing is that the app leaves behind trace folders, and even one that's labeled "Bytedance." If you for some reason download the app make sure to scan your phone really good for hidden files and fragments.

Tik Tok was never NOT a Chinese company lol. I've lived in China for years, and a lot of the masses perception of what they "think" is happening here is shrouded in a lot of misconception. First of all, Tik Tok in China is called Douyin and has been a popular app here way before it went abroad. So if now all of a sudden you're afraid of government spying, you're literally as late as possible when it comes to this app.
Second of all, the Chinese government really doesn't give a shit about you. Ask yourself "who are you to be given a fuck about?" They have over a billion of their own citizens to worry about. And to call things here "tyrannical" is a bit crazy. Yes the government is officially "communistic," but most things run in a capitalistic way here with mainly social services and government freedom to do what they want in many cases, but not all.
Just proves further how America is falling behind when it comes to having actual experiences in life aside from their narrow perspectives from their isolated communities. To anyone with a college degree and nothing to do with it, I recommend you find a job over here if you want to actually make a decent living. Anyways, can't wait to hear the hate from more people who have no idea what things are actually like in a place they've never been to.
