I think DeBoer's secret sauce as a coach is his focus on the team game. He has confidence in a system that uses multiple players at every position...except QB because how do you take Penix out of a game. An example would be Texas basically playing two LBs. The Dawgs play five. Six DB's play regularly. Four edge rushers, soon to be five with Durfee joining the crew. Our offense is similar. Six receivers play regularly. Four TE's see significant action. And while Johnson gets 50% of the carries, Nixon, Rogers also get in during crucial drives. It is likely the reason we are so strong in the 4th qrt. Guys aren't gassed. Everyone knows their role for the most part and it shows. We might give up a lot of small stuff, but we rarely give up explosive plays on D. And our O can play close to the line and fast, until we suddenly go over the top for daggers. Texas has size, although so did Oregon, much of which was SEC transfer talent. So who knows, but it should be fun!
I have no dog in this one, no pun intended, but if the Huskies cant shore up their run defense in a hurry they will get blown out. Texas is the most effective run offense in football, and the Huskies are 81st in run defense. This is something to pay attention to early in the game. If Washington can stop the run they could win, if not they lose its that simple.
Huskies will start quick again just like the fuss vs Oregon in Vegas. Texas has no idea what is about to happen. It could ugly very quickly for them on offense and defense. Go Dawgs!!!!

Salk.....c'mon man. The 2016 defense was legit. The offense was a lot like the Oregon offense this year. They were by far a more rounded team. They lost 2 huge impact players on defense. Both WR 1&2 were playing through nagging injuries on offense, and even more importantly, Browning needed surgery on this throwing shoulder. They still took to Bama and made them earn every point (minus the Browning free pick 6). Despite missing those 2 starters, Bama still only out up 17 points of offense. 3 of those coming in field goal position on a fumble. In reality the Bama offense only put up 14 points. With those 2 starters in....Bama may not have even mustered that many. They failed on 9 of their drives. Unfortunately, the Huskies were too beat up and Browning lacked the throwing power to really be much of a threat. That's what recruiting does. We didn't have 5 stars sitting on the bench that could fill in for an injury. That's why this team is so exciting. We gutted it out during the season despite illness and injury. Meanwhile, we are getting healthy just in time for the post-season push. If healthy, the 2016 team has a legitimate shot beating Bama. We have a legit shot this year as well.

In last year's Alamo Bowl, Texas was missing the top running back tandem in the country: Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, both opting out for the NFL. You put those two players in the game and I seriously doubt the Huskies prevail. As a Longhorn fan, I can't imagine a better matchup than the Huskies. I think this is going to be the best game in the playoffs and I predict it will be high-scoring. While my Longhorns are being widely touted as exposed in a secondary ranked 95th nationally, the Huskies are just as exposed with a secondary ranked 120th. Longhorns and Huskies are tied at 5th in interceptions and I also predict turnovers in the passing game. Where I believe the Longhorns have the advantage is run defense ond offense. Having watched several of the Huskies' games, Dillion Johnson stands out and is currently ranked 26th nationally. Texas held both Ollie Johnson (ranked 1st) and Tahj Brooks (ranked 4th) to under 40 yards rushing each. I think Dillion Johnson is going to have difficulty against the Texas defense, which will probably force more passing attempts which, to some extent, plays into the Huskies' strengths. But I also think the Texas running game is going to be hard for the Huskies to stop and this will make the difference in the game because Texas will control the clock with the running game. Of course, I am just speculating with a Longhorn bias :), but the defenses during the Arizona and Oregon State games got my attention. Oregon State held the Huskies scoreless in the 2nd half and that got my attention, and I'm probably not the only one. Can't wait for this game. GO HORNS !!
Early in the fourth quarter, the Huskies led by 17. The games wasn't as close as it appears. Most of the big names on the current Texas roster played in the Alamo Bowl, and you saw what happened. Also, while Texas has a very good run defense (3rd in the nation) so did Oregon (11th), Oregon St. (15th), and Arizona (19th). The Huskies managed to beat those teams.
@profd65 keep in mind, last year, penix only had 1 completion on deep balls and it was on a trick play at the start of the game. Texas switched up their defense for that game and played 2 high safeties which practically shut down the deep passing game for Washington. Now they did end up giving up 150 on the ground because they pushed the safeties back and they were the 33rd ranked rushing defense last year. But they're also substantially better at stopping the run this year with just their front 7. So they won't need to keep the safeties up to help with the run. If Texas continues to play press man like they have the past 2 games then I think Washington will struggle on offense.

UT averages 36 points and 479.5 yards per game. Taulapapa last year had 6.3 yards per carry, so 5.5 doesn’t sound like a step forward in the UW run game. You didn't bash the Dawgs, you questioned the relevance of the Alamo Bowl last year. And I think there is, and isn't, because you've got to play the game, ultimately. But they guys on both teams that played last year in San Antonio have some knowledge of each other. There is no question about the talent level on the Texas team, they have 5 Star recruits at every position except the defensive line, and hey, look at those guys! Studs! But the Husky offensive line is the best line they will face so far this season. Just like the game last year, I expect an exciting hard fought game that neither team will run away with. The Quarterback who was only completing 58% now completing 70% or Micheal Penix. That's not hating, that's not being a homer, that's fact and the number back it up. So many Washington fans bring up Oregon as if they could complete with the teams in the SEC as to say Oregon and Texas are similar. They're not. Oregon gets it pressure from the edge and Texas gets theirs from the DTs. Oregon can't play 2 high man with a light box and stop the run Texas can. Who wins this game I don't know, but for every mismatch Washington has, I'm pretty sure Texas is a much harder team to cover. Case in point Quinn's best games at Texas came against OU, Alabamax2, Washington and Baylor this year. Why? Because against everyone else they're playing 3 safeties back and dropping 8 defenders.
And yet Oregon is BETTER than Texas on both offense and defense and UW beat Oregon. Twice. Big 12 really weak this year - that might explain the rise of Texas this year. @@Dread-HeadedTexan

Washington is ranked 122nd in passing yards allowed and Texas is ranked 95th. But teams threw more against Washington than Texas and four of the top five passing offenses in the nation were in the Pac 12. So it seems that Texas's pass defense is almost as bad as Washington's, doesn't it?
@@profd65I mean, not really. washington only had 57 more pass attempt against them than Texas. It's not that big of a jump throughout the year. Even that out over 13 games and that's only around 4 more attempts per game. Texas also had a higher avg time of possession (31:48) than washington (29:36). So teams had less of an opportunity to throw it against Texas than they did against Washington.
Brock is too smart to suggest that Washington could tempo Texas like OU did. Texas would welcome that because Washington isn't as deep as Texas and would tire first, secondly what would that look like with the amount of pre snap movement Washington does ob offense. Yes Washington beat a similar team last year but they aren't the same. Be honest with yourself and ask which team improved more since the last outing and the answer is undoubted Texas. Please stop comparing Oregon's defense to Texas lol go back and watch the Alabama game from last year and watch Worthy torching Jackson, also Oregeon's pressure comes off the edge Texas pressure comes from the middle and its not about getting the sack. You have to be able to step into the type of throws Washington want to make and how do you do that with a 360 pound tackle in your face? As bad of a match-up this maybe for Texas it's equally bad or worse for Washington.
As a FSU fan i dont think Washington has a edge over nobody! Are you kidding me? Shocked you guys made the CFP playing basketball schools week in week out, needed a fg to beat Washington state on there own lawn how embarrassing and you guys had your starting qb. Just another Cincinnati, TCU Cinderella team now we gotta waste 3 hrs of our life watching you play in the CFP might just start on that honey to do list and spare myself
Well even if your Washington st performance and our BC performance about the same "find a way to win games" I'll take that but our win over a sec giant LSU on neutral field and controlling that game trump's any win Washington has! And are these teams getting ranked are they truly deserving of a ranking? Wasn't deion high school buffalos ranked at some point ESPN had USC ranked high give me a break but real talk Washington hasn't played any top dawg sec schools and if they did you guys be back at that Alamo bowl
Ummm...Oregon was #5 in the nation and UW won on a neutral field and won all phases of the game. Oregon is LOADED with 4 and 5 star talent - way more than FSU and LSU. Look it up! Oh and LSU might have the worst defense in the nation!@@ShaunWarren-ni5ro

Umm wrong
And did it go completely differently?
Cougs and Beavs want to thank you for the extra cash this year!!
Yep they are going to need it 😂
Fired up for sark on second chances? He was despicable at UW. Some success. But a man of zero character. Cheating on his wife all over town. Drinking in the office on our campus. No. We love second chances. But not for guys that sue their employee for firing them for being wasted on the job. GTFO
Eastcoast and USC and Nike no I am sorry Oregon bias. Because Nix would have won it if he would have beat the UW.
Washington has the 122nd pass defense. Texas will tear them apart
Same thing everyone else said 😂
@@FrostTyler Yea, teams had less of an opportunity to throw it against Texas, therefore their passing yards allowed is artificially low.
LOVE seeing you guys coming in with the same mentality as #6 Oregon, #6 Oregon (slow learners), #10 Ore St #15 Utah , Heisman USC, and everybody else.
You mean he bought a team
GO DAWGS!
Texas had close wins over average conference foes TCU and Kansas State, but lets remember U-Dub didn't exactly demolish the Sun Devils nor Stanford.
Not to mention those games featured Texas backup quarterback or an obviously still injured Ewers in his first game back.
We definitely have more ranked wins than FSU and you guys almost lost to boston college.
ACC worst conference in the nation this year. Pac 12 #2. Look it up!
Go cry 😢 to the committee , not our fault we won 20 straight
Washington secondary is trash too. Idk what they talking about our corners match up well.
I think it's because of Texas' lack of a true WR1.
Washington is sending Texas home after this game while Washington goes on to beat the next team that THINKS THAT THEY ARE GOOD 😂
@@RickHorejsi nah not happening
Sorta true. But when you lose two safeties and some DB's to injuries, it's hard to say the secondary is no good. They got healthy in the Pac 12 Championship game and looked much better.
You aight?
