Before knowing what the lyrics were saying, I always saw this video as wanting to break free from a prison of your own self-doubt and saving yourself or finding your true self. At least, that's what it means to me.

I think I saw references to Michelangelo and M C Escher in the video.
So the story seems to be, if you come across a live mannequin in a shop window, don't panic, but know that you've been abducted by aliens with a penchant for color co-ordinated shoes, and after some off screen cloning you will find a live mannequin of your self on the aliens spaceship shopping mall and will have to rescue your clone, but in the end you snag some fantastic fashion bargains. Sounds like a Doctor Who Christmas Episode.
You probably noticed that the first four male mannequins you saw in the window were OK Go. They cameoed in return for the girls' cameo appearances in their I Won't Let You Down music video.
