love how i knew who the first one was instantly, but it didn't stop the bullet, it slowed it down, be was bleeding the entire time he gave the speech, the bullet was left inside him.
It’s one of those stories that’s been told so many times that you hear a new one every time. Nate told a different one from this one, awhile ago. I learned a different one from both in school. This is the first time I’ve heard yours. And this one told by Ballen os the first time I’ve heard it.
That last story was definitely a big *What if* scenario. If they had binoculars then yeah, the Titanic would probably be a retired ship today. Instead it's rusting away into nothing at the bottom of the ocean floor.
Those binoculars wouldn't have helped at all in seeing the iceberg. It was pitch Black on a moonless night, binoculars wouldn't have helped the crew to see the iceberg earlier to avoid collision. Infact the people who saw the iceberg said that the only thing that made it slightly visible was the stars in the night sky that shined right at the corners of the iceberg on the water, other than that, the iceberg would've just looked big, black and hard to see because of how moonless the night was. The binoculars wouldn't have saved the Titanic.
@JackblueHQ Added to that, due to the speed they were going, it's hard to say if they would even have slowed down in time if they had seen the iceberg a moment or so earlier.
I think one of the most impactful decisions in history was Archduke Franz Ferdinand deciding to visit the hospital where they took the victims of terrorist attack that happened earlier. But his driver got lost in the city and got stuck in a backstreet, where a certain Gavrilo Princip was eating lunch. The rest is history.
There's another Mr. Ballen vid in the same vein of decisions that changed the course of history, that you just gotta react to! Keep doing these, these are awesome!
Titanic's hull was also already damaged before hitting the iceberg cause the coal furnaces was heating up the hull giving Titanic a weak spot and the iceberg hit the exact weakspot and damaging the ship's weak hull. If it was any other spot I guess Titanic would be able to take the hit but then Idk if they will able to reach new york in time or at least try get to closest to the shore or beach.
It seems like the tragedy of Titanic, and the lack of anticipation and preparation for the attack on Pearl Harbor are due to so many moments of stupidity, arrogance, stubborness, and ignorance. There are definitely other incidents, but these are the main two that come to mind on how they could have easily been prevented, or at least resulted in far less catastrophic circumstances.
The Californian was warning the titanic about icebergs in the area but the titanic guy that u mentioned fell asleep wasn’t asleep he was working got annoyed at the radio guy and sent a msg back saying I’m working go away the radio guy on the titanic did write the warning in an envelope to deliver to the captain but obviously never got there then the Californian guy did go to sleep and when the titanic hit the ice and tried to send out a distress signal to the Californian didn’t answer because they guy was asleep
There is a lot of context that needs to be added to the sinking of the Titanic to be clear. 1. Marconi operators didn't work for White Star Line. They were contracted to them by a Marconi company. The reason why Jack Philips, The Marconi operator, was "rude" to the California's operator wasn't because of obnoxiousness, but because he was sleep deprived trying to fix the machine cause it broke down and he spent all night trying to fix it. Cape Race was a Lighthouse in Canada that could take Marconi messages and one of the luxuries that the Titanic offered was the ability to send instant messages to America. Philips had to raise the volume of the machine just to remain in contact with Cape race when the California blares this message into Philips ear. It stung to hear it and he threw off his headset, and thus the "rude" message was sent. The California was not the first ship to send Ice warnings and it was not the last, so Philips already had tons of messages to divert the ship had he not received that one at all. There is even a belief that the ship may have not sank if the Titanic didn't divert it's path to avoid the icebergs, regardless, Jack Philips did nothing wrong. 2. The Binoculars mean shit. It was a dark windless night with no moon, meaning no waves could crash onto the iceberg, nor reflect the light the moon was giving off from the sun. The men in the crows nest wouldn't be able to see anything with those things, rendering them useless. Not only that but, the cold water merge, creating a false horizon, was hiding the iceberg. The keys to the binoculars would mean nothing. On a side note, the captain wanted his best man with him on his retiring voyage so he had Henry Tingle Wilde (hehe, Tingle) as his chief officer, this moved William McMaster Murdoch to first officer, and Charles Herbert Lightoller moved to second officer, kicking David Blair off of the senior officers list. The Titanic's maiden voyage was a freak accident to a ship who was the best of her time. There are a lot of factors that took play, but there was no way a human without foresight could have saved her or the people on board. (Yes, that means an additional number of lifeboats would have done nothing too save people as well. Time is everything on a sinking vessel.)

@@jackbluehq6653 Not to mention the cold water merge. Those Binoculars were really useless that night, regardless of pretty much anything.
Shit that last one. That guy must of been bloody devastated but so damm grateful at the same time.
Damn, David must have been devastated upon hearing the senate inquiry response from Fred Fleet.

Then world war 1 happened
"Whose to say if they had rhe binoculars they could have prevented it"... ummm the person who spotted the iceberg did lol

Thanks Caleb
Miss Caleb. Where he is now?
Maybe if the left the Captain or pilot alone there might not been a titanic crash cause fate maybe could have been changed enough
