We Flew to Italy... for PIZZA! | New York vs. Italian Pizza
Last summer I took my Italian wife, Eva, on a road trip across America. We tried everything from street tacos in Los Angeles to Philly cheese steak sandwiches. She loved EVERY SINGLE DISH except one: New York style pizza. I decided to try and achieve some redemption for NY pizza but somehow we ended up... in Italy.
Hope you guys enjoyed this video! If so, please give it a thumbs-up and subscribe to the channel. We'll be sticking around Italy for a little while so tune in next week!
DISCLAIMER: We traveled in the safest manner possible, undergoing COVID testing before and after our flight. We followed all US/Italian regulations. Stay safe!

Sooooo now that we're in Italy, what do you guys want to see? 😂
Go to verona 😅
Would love to see Venice and the northern part of Italy.
Rome always the best place to go or Florence
Harper che magna' la 'Nduja a casa di Eva!🤔🙄😂
Valtellina e lago di Como (sì, sono di parte)
Show something cooked by Eva's mom... That would be interesting
What about a video of Eva's mom judging Eva's cooking 🤔
I couldn't agree more. Show us where Eva learned to cook!
How about Granny's dishes vs mom's dishes and what was the most tasty dish
Agreed. Let this be the next video.
You need to try more pizza in different places, styles, flavors...and don't forget while you're there Harper to also try a bolognese lasagna with bechamel sauce , it's going to melt in your mouth.
the REAL star of this video is Eva's face after having her first REAL espresso in long time
my thoughts exactly, I wonder how long she's been away from Italy during this pandemic... Maybe she'll read this and answer us XD We love you guys! Enjoy your stay!
Ristretto.
I know. I swear I saw some tears forming in her eyes! So lovely!
@@johndigiamberardino8449 nope, espresso is espresso. ristretto is ristretto (and in italy we call it "basso")
@@katetownsend9655 As Italian I can say that when you touch the land the first thing you're craving for is an espresso.
I think it might be Eva's turn to feed you Italy's best American food.
Yes! This x100! Time for retribution!!!! ✊🏻
Great idea!
agree xD
We will try!!!
Love that idea!
Harper: we have great pizza in America too.
Eva: literally drags him to Italy.
Because Harper doesn't realize the BEST pizza on earth is in America in one town. That is New Haven CT. Even a few yards away from Joe's where he took her, is John's on Bleeker the best pizza in NYC. The problem is like most people on earth Harper does not know what pizza is, thank god Eva is teaching him. Not taking her to the New Haven greats is like introducing her to hamburgers by taking her to McDonald's. The Hamburger as we know it worldwide was invented in New Haven CT, not going to Louis Lunch there is not truly tasting an American Hamburger!
New Haven pizza is burnt, over-cooked trash.
@Paulo Dacosta You have no CLUE what you are talking about. First off 90% of what places call "Pizza" in the US and 100% in Canada are not in fact Pizza (unless some grotesque battery acid like orange smear and fake mozzarella on a horrible bread automatically makes it pizza in your book). That being said, New Haven CT still has the best pizza on earth (Sally's Appiza, Frank Pepes Appiza, Modern Appiza, BAR, Earnies, Olde World Appiza in Hamden CT, and Zapparties in West Haven CT). New Haven also has horrific pizza as it is the home of so-called "Greek Pizza" the grotesque abomination responsible for Papa Johns, Dominos and other grotesque fast food pizza's as well as the ONLY style of so-called pizza in Canada. New York has some stuff that is near New Haven Quality but you really need to know, most of what is called "New York Pizza" is neither "New York Pizza" and runs from mediocre to grotesque. While Joe's on Carmine and Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village NYC is one of the best slice pizzas in the so called "Modern New York Style" in New York City, these guys missed John's pizza 1/2 block down Bleeker Street which is arguably the best of the few remaining coal oven pizzas (Real New York Pizza) in the state of New York. Then no one reviews V&T Pizzaria on Amsterdam between 110th and 111th Street in Manhattan, the best electric pizza oven pizza in the state of New York (similar to Earnies of New Haven, CT if you remember to tell them well done!). ua-cam.com/video/lGKGiThvEj0/v-deo.html

@@kathleennorton6108 Nah not true, everyone gets a mix and it's easier to find better beans in the US than in Italy. It's more about having the right mix of beans for the brewing process you are using and the fact that Italian cafè espresso machines pump out thousands of coffees per day.
The pure happiness on Eva’s face when she took a bite of the pizza in Italy, I could feel the joy! 🥰😂

So glad to hear that! Say ciao to your friends for us!
You two are a very love.y couple. My son is the one who introduced me to your videos and I love love them, God Bless you both always and forever.
Thank you!!! ❤️
Your videos are great! There are all kinds of UA-camrs but I feel yours are one of the few I can really relate to. They are authentic, genuine, not phoney or cheesy (no matter how much Parmigiano is involved...).
Great show! I have argued with everyone about this. I was in a pizzaria because I heard that a real Italian was cooking the pizza. I ordered from the waiter the authentic Italian way I had known having traveled to Italy many times. The chef bursted from the kitchen in tears saying that he was tired of cooking casseroles on bread for Americans. We hugged it out and he returned to Italy. When I explain this to Americans, they look at me with a blank misunderstand stare. Eva - thank you for validating me!!!!!!
Casseroles on bread! Lol So true.
Yep. Having been to Italy 10 times myself (and being half Italian), I can confirm. There. Is. No. Comparison.
Please tell us how you ordered!
How I ordered! Pizza cooked with sauce and anchovy fillets only. Fresh basil, olive oil drizzle after, Shaved pecorino romano at table presentation. This is a Northern Italy style. I like with a "green wine" like Gavi Batistina. Otherwise, I like the Eva Neopolitan - scant buffalo mozzarella, a few leaves of basil , drizzle of olive oil. As Eva is saying - simplicity, not enormous amounts of cheese and meats - hence a casserole on bread like Americans style.
Brilliant, thanks @Forrest sounds wonderful. I have only been to Italy once but I still remember having a white pizza with no sauce topped with anchovies, capers, and olives. Salty but as you say, not over-loaded. Making me hungry now!
I live in the French Alpes 20 kms from the italian border and l often get on the train to go to Torino for the day just for lunch.

Did Eva just quote the greatest line of all time?!
"It's Pizza Time"
Eva, I thought that you would say something down the like “After eating this pizza you can die” paraphrasing the Neapolitan say: “Vedere napoli e poi morire”. Guys, this was the best video ever. Enjoy Italy.

So in Naples they started to offer a Margarita pizza? With tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice, with salt around the crust? Ummm 🙄 maybe it's better than the pineapple one 😃 sorry about my humour, it's called Margherita, margarita is the cocktail. 😘

Welcome back to Europe! Greetings from Germany. I'm looking forward to your Italian adventure videos.
I love how good food makes her so happy!
The look on Eva's face after her first espresso at the airport is amazing! I see myself in her when I go back to Italy from Germany, and grab my first "cornetto e cappuccino" (cornetto is how we call the croissant in Sicily). No words, just happiness :D
I swear I thought this was click bait......travelling to little Italy in New York...then I realised you actually did go! Yay! Can’t wait for the food!
I was fearing the reaction to another slice before she inevitably went "I want a real pizza"! The title showed this clearly wasn't going to end in New York! At least she had a better slice this time!
I think the thing with Eva and pizza is it's mostly a style thing. NY pizza has a different crust, sauce, uses slightly different cheese, etc. Eva probably just doesn't like that style. However... many places in NY serve Neapolitan style pizza, perhaps it may not have been as good as the best pizza place in Italy but you would have gotten it a lot sooner!
Great video! You guys sure go on many fun trips!

It is a typical product of Campania Region, in Tuscany you can drink a copy of it, as simple as that.
