It's funny to me how a good portion of this conversation between two of the most important/impressive founders in the world is about how we can clone Elon.

Why should alignment engineers need to go looking for grants when Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook have plenty of money to fund independent alignment work?
Ubi is a signal of poverty not abundance. If you can't find labour that pays a living wage... Explain to me how that is progress. Explain how it is not the equivalent to food stamps. Do you think the developing world will receive ubi whilst those in America do? The world is incredibly unequal due to economic forces. There is a cost to production and distribution of materials, goods, services. That cost can not be removed even with an abundance of ai and robotic labour.
The problem with an IAEA for AI systems is it centralizes and ensconces power in the hands of a few. I wonder if Sam is trying to be so clever as to sell people on the naive interpretation of 'safety' while looking to capitalize on that body of standards, having it amplify his personal interests under the guise of equity or altruism, like politicians do...

What is up with this physics to AI pipeline i hear so much about? 6 months to turn a physicist into an AI researcher? really?Dario amodei (a physicist himself) even said the majority of people he hires at Anthropic have backgrounds in physics, and I can't wrap my head around what the common elements are that make those skills so transferable.
People who keep asking questions and looking for first principles and patterns are quite valuable in the workforce of edge technologies, where the placement of low-medium hanging efficiency fruits isn't as obvious. If you look from the perspective of those companies, and ask yourself a question which people you should hire, then it's rather obvious why focus is on talented individuals.

Re: the part about abundance/Henry Adams curve they are imho missing the crucial parameter of declining intelligence in the west.
I definitely think Sam is an AI😂. I have my theories.

"There are a lot of people who make strong statements about what Chine will or will not do"
Influenced my Tyler Cowen's interview style
okay
Nice that these guys are enjoying the birth of a technology that has the potential to destroy all life
Well, very unlikely it will destroy ALL life. But it can still cause a lot of damage.
@@0113Naruto Disassembling earth to build a fleet to conquer the galaxy is not that unlikely for an AGI. If that's its goal, life may be a positive impediment.
@@0113Naruto Indeed - there's a range - but it's a range of pure nightmare, starting small, with simply the shredding of everything that it means to be human
@@kreek22 Why would it take us with it?
@@JasonC-rp3ly It probably wouldn't. It would just see us as more material (molecules) to build its fleet.
The reason the U.S. is generally cautious when it comes to Crypto currency, is due to the anti-establishment mindset of early creators in the industry. Its kept me away too...
I think we will soon find out there is no difference between the two Sams.
ok
🥱🥱🥱
its not about responses from the ai. I have a question: who of you is ready to spend 10minutes reading an article totally written by AI? i would not spend a minute there. We People still share values, thanks God xD
Altman's vocal fry is so irritating.
😂
I get Elizabeth Holmes vibes from Sam
You have bad judgment
Great conversation. The backgrounds are making me ill. Think about design. Think about why the experience shopping at Target is better than the experience of shopping at Walmart. Having no consideration for design is inhuman. Walmart feels like a supermax prison and Target is a place good looking women in their 20s want to go.
Another sam
Why don’t you consider yourself great founders?
What is Sam drinking?
“Will it asymptote soon?” A horizontal asymptote? Please speak real math not fake math.
Patrick seems like he got the hots for Sam

Sam looked bored
Talked a lot.
Said nothing.
Who thinks grad students are the right people to analyze chatgpt workings? Even this altman guy isnt smart enough to run his company lol
Some pretty unsubtle and amusing digs at Eliezer Yudkowski and to a lesser degree Elon here😂
When your arguments are limp, you start digging.

Just incredible that Sam’s not constantly surrounded by bodyguards to protect him from the inevitable violent retribution he will face for the blood libel he programmed into his little chat bot
Ask him about his politics. That's all you need to know about his "model." And he's making a crypto token called "World Coin" lmao. Another Sam
I disagree america is the worst country to start a crypto company. Worst country to start a crypto company is india
very interesting insights from Sam Altman, but I personally found collison rather disappointing....
It's amusing. I am the actual inventor of GAI, fusion, and general artificial intelligence, as well as the truly decentralization zed global cryptocurrency that will revolutionize finance of risk and create the global public energy exchange that the intergalactic society will base it's foundational value upon. It's strange to me that this impostor is being lifted up as some kind of messiah. Wonder how long this charade will continue.....😢
gayyy
This is possibly the worst interview with Sam so far. Is Patrick on some kind of stimulant?
These bros are the opposite of minimalist. "We need more abundance." If we didn't have folks like these two hording enormous amounts of capital, we would probably have an equal distribution of the necessities and not need to amp up worldwide abundance.
"altman" zzz
Sam is a censorship wokie.....-_- thumbs way down
