I was Raised in Cotton Plant- Many Folks remember when this town was Booming back in the 50's and 60's as the Delta Plywood Mill was still going Strong. I have Fond Memories of my Hometown, at one time I knew the Name of every Black and White person in the Whole Town. I started working for Mr. EC Davis Grocery store when I was 10 years old and later worked for Tommy Huggins until I graduated from high school. My Ancestors were Pioneers of this town, my grandmother's uncle came to Cotton Plant before the Civil War. If I were a Millionaire I would try to Build a Factory of some kind in this town to Bring it Back to its Glory Days-Memories are All that I have Left but they are All Fond Ones about this Great Little Town. Hopefully Someone will Install a Nice Sign at the City Limits telling the World that this is the Hometown of Sister Rosetta Tharpe--The Godmother of Rock and Roll and the Blues as she is in Both Hall of Fames--the First Black Lady to Tare Up an Electric Guitar Bo Diddle, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Many others Copied her Style and Passion for Music...
