The plot lines with Richard an Nicole’s parents really shows why their marriage works. Both of them have horrible families and they complete each other, even if they fight. This show had real human relationships instead of just spouse bad jokes.

Also Nicole and Richard are opposites, but a perfect balance of what a family should be-
Nicole is strict and keeps her family/children in line when things get rowdy, although Richard is lazy and childish, he takes it easy and let's his kids be kids; aka have fun and let loose.
Just something I admire from their dynamic ^^

It's important to empathize with people who do the wrong things, true, but the reality is, this guy is only so tortured as a result of his own decisions. However, Frankie doesn't do anywhere near as good. But unlike Stan, we don't know his backstory. We know why Stan turned out the way he did. I'm not saying it's moral, but if you're already a scam artist and that's what you know, and you desperately need food and money in order to live, why would you not try to do that? It seems like the first thing you would think of to try to do in that situation. Yes it certainly isn't moral to try to scam them like that, but you have to admit that it makes perfectly logical sense why he would try to do so given who he is as a person and the condition he is living in. He could have gone about it better than trying to scam them out of it, but at least in this case he is doing it for things to actually help him live instead of things like jewelry or something, I don't know.

Everybody is debating whether to look at him as being a terrible person and not feel bad for him, or whether to look at him as a tortured person that are you do feel for at least a little bit, but very few people are realizing that you can have a bit of BOTH. You can see how terrible of a person he is AND feel bad for him at times for what his life has become. Note that nothing that I say here is a defense for what he's done. The people who don't feel bad for him no matter what, I can understand why, but I can't agree because even someone like him deserves food and clean water. The people who view him as the victim on the other hand are going too far the other way and need to remember that he is a deadbeat father who left his son and wife and also a scam artist on top of that. And the people who thinks he deserves nothing but torture because of that need to remember that even though what he did was unforgivable, he at least tried to make up for it but didn't know how and ended up feeling like he wasn't able to. Yes what he did was unforgivable, but I can't help but feel bad for him actually wanting to finally make up for it after all these years and not knowing how to. Also the fact that he has no food and had to boil water from a toilet is just sad no matter how terrible of a person he is in my opinion. But I digress, I'm probably going to get a lot of hate comments from the people don't feel bad for him no matter what that I'm trying to defend him when I'm not.

He is horrible in that he left his family and only came back to con them out of their home... But Joana has show how messed up a partner she can be so I can understand him walking out on HER. This is the woman who turned Richard into the braindead lazy slob we know, apparently via repeated psychological torment to scare him away from anything other than lazing about and eating (which left him woefully unprepared for the many dangerous things he gets involved in, she didn't teach him that some things were dangerous, just scared him into not taking any "risk" near her).
It doesn't absolve him of his flaws but it explains some of his actions. It doesn't explain why Joana ever married him, but her actions and motivations are baffling anyway.
Also I forgot that it was Anais that had the "genius" idea to make him feel at home by imitating the worst parts of prison... Has anyone ever called her out on when HER plans are dumb and cause problems as opposed to all the times she does that to gumball and darwin?

Frankie was always an awful person. It has really nothing to do with Joanna, and if we are gonna justify Frankie's actions using Joanna's actions, then you can make an argument about Joanna becoming overprotective of Richard because abandoned by your partner who was also the parent of your child can be pretty traumatic.

The tragedy is that Frankie is a victim of his very own greed. Sometimes a man who is the constructor of his own fall can be tragic as well. Kinda like Darth Vader. Frankie just kept digging himself into a deeper hole, losing more and more and making him more and more consumed by greed.

Honest do god really reminds me of my parents. My mom hated my dad for what he put us through simply because he really only loved his family and himself and we were the optional part. I hated him for a long time and absolutely hated his guts for what he did to our family, with my mom never speaking to him for 3 years. Until in 2018, he fixed himself. Sure he was still a bit of a selfish ass until he actually started to understand me and my autism. He started to understand I was a person, a person he created with my mom, who is also a person like him. He realized how much we really meant to him all his life and how big selfish assholes his part of the family was(except his dad). Over the course of 5 years of hard work and actually giving me the love I never had…. He’s my father now and I love him to the end, I will forgive most of what he’s ever done, but I will never forget the pain of everything, just as my mom won’t as she’s always on his ass about everything, but she respects him just as much as he respects her. That’s life in my book, that’s how life goes. People need to be given a chance but once that chance goes, that’s it, no more…. Just give people the chance and if they don’t, cut them out just as they’ve cut you. But if they take that chance, hold and love them until the end and never let them fall again. My dads currently got a raise in a company he’s worked for since 2019 and he’s doing better than he’s ever done in years
I love my dad and he loves me, my mom, my brother and my sister
Edit: there’s a few details I’m leaving out but it’s mostly personal stuff
