Fix stuttering and lagging HD mkv videos

the same thing applies to the k-lite codec pack, i disabled directshow filter and enabled lav filter, and that fixed the sound stuttering in my case.

IF this way didn't work, try my sure fire end all solution!!
Simply rename the video file's extension to ".MP4". DONE!!! Get
some popcorn (or lube), sit back and enjoy all that HD goodness.
Detailed Instructions:
How to view extensions in Windows to change them.
1) Open any Windows FOLDER. At the top left, where it reads, "File, Edit, View, Tools, Help"
2) Go to "Tools".
3) Folder Options.
4) View Tab.
5) UNCHECK "Hide extension for known file types"
6) Click "Apply" button.
7) Locate the physical file with the ."MKV" extension.
8) Right Click on it and rename, OR add anther period (.) and "MP4"
9) A box will pop up asking if you're cool with this name change.
10) Say Hell Yes, and confirm.
11) Play it issue free.
Example:
Old Name:
"Your Bride Hitomi.mkv"
New Name:
"Your Bride Hitomi.MP4"
OR
"Your Bride Hitomi.mkv.MP4"
