I lapsed in my teens. My mother predicted that one day I would return. I did not believe her. Fifty years later I have found my church again (I never lost faith) and I praise the Lord and honour my mothers memory. I was always Catholic but not practicing. Now I am home again in the bosom of the Holy Church and could not be happier to have returned.
20 years for me. I came back when my mother died. Her priest happened to bring communion when my father and I were visiting her at the hospice. We all partook. It meant a great deal more to me than I'd expected. I still have some differences with the church, but it's my only church. Nothing else will do. It helps that Francis is Pope, with his emphasis on compassion and mercy. The church used to feel rigid and hostile to me. Compassion and mercy opened the doors.
I used to be a devout Catholic during my uni days but after graduating, i kinda lost and didn't go to church for 2 years in 2019 and 2020 due to the pandemic. But today 4/4/2021 i went to the church for the first time again. I don't remember when was the last time i feel so happy like this.
God bless all who returned to the Catholic faith and there are many more to return. Jesus will lead them safely home and Mother Mary will intercede for all her children who have strayed and lead them to her Son Our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ Amen 🙏
Very beautiful hymns of praise. Heaven is happy with you all - keep it up. The masses are HOLY and true traditional ones. My fellow catholics let's continue to pray for our dear priests to lead us to the right path. Thank you in the united Hearts of Jesus Mary and Joseph. God bless you all.
Superb hymn. I really cannot understand why it is still only included in Roman Catholic hymn books. I cannot detect anything in the words that would upset even the most ardent Protestant!
Because it's catholic. Why would they even get close to catholic stuff😂 afterall catholicism is just pagan, and we as Catholics know nothing but Mary and saints 😂😂 if only they stop being prideful and try to see our saints as guides and the teachings as God ones... How beautiful would it be... United in Christ in a single Church.
@@anguskirk4696 there are different rites in the Catholic Church; Roman being the most heard of. Other rites include Byzantine, Maronite etc. Any rites that are in Communion with the Holy Father in Rome are Catholic and a baptised Catholic can fulfil their obligation at any of them. Hope this helps!
I am also Eastern Catholic (not the Roman part, but the 'other lung' in the body that St JPII spoke about). Please set the Roman thing aside for the sake of TALKING about THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. Let's pray that a Patriarch is elected Pope as in the early church.
As a kid-in the Finger Lakes, the Snushalls had s fold of sheep. One 'wanderin' sheep' got its head caught in a wire fence, so Jay and I had to free it. That was one of the first times I felt God's holy spirit! May each sinner have an encounter with Christ, to become servants/saints of the MOST HIGH, today-Alleluia Jesus-King of glory!
Bless this place O Christ we pray and open here a door that no one can shut and grant that soon there will be one Church and one fold and one Shepherd.
This always reminds me of the spring and summer. I don't know if it's because the first 2 times I heard it was first, at Palm Sunday Mass, and then later that week at the Chrism Mass. Both of which were on unseasonably sunny and warm days for Scotland at that time of year.
I'm very proud to say that my local church (Church of Ireland - Anglican) have 'adopted' THIS tune.... It lends itself very well to congregational singing, makes good use of the organ, and like your version, the choir harmony and organ swell on the last 'refrain' are spine-tinglingly wonderful !! A beautiful hymn sung and played very well......Thank you for posting. :-)
"I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth. For the first Heaven and Earth had passed away. And God Himself shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death. Nor shall there be sorrow nor pain nor crying, for the former world has passed away." - Revelations, 21.
We thank You Lord God for this grace in which we stand, grace to keep Thy Ten Commandments. O Holy trinity one God have mercy upon us and upon all the Churches and the whole wide world.
Awhile ago a small group was planning a virtual celebration of a feast day. I suggested the feast of Christ the King and this hymn as part of the mass liturgy for this feast. It would be an introduction of a mainly Irish hymn very suitable.
That' the Carthusian logo. Oddly enough the Carthusian choir monks only sing the psalms in Latin at the Divine Office and the Conventual Holy Mass. The laybrothers never sing at all.
We're not upset with your hymns! haha Its still all about Trent unfortunately. Great hymn, and we would love to see more of this praise be sung in all churches in the world to our God and Redeemer, Jesus Christ!
Thomas Aquinas, one of the great Doctors of the Catholic Church wrote in his Summa Theologica: "...in the mystery of the Incarnation we say that the Son of God suffered, yet we do not say that the Divine Nature suffered."
Yes, one could use it for Lent V or perhaps Palm Sunday. But certainly not on Good Friday. There should not be hymns on Good Friday at all. Unfortunately in recent years they have crept in....................
+Maureen Sullivan So do I Maureen. There is a very noticable fall away from Mass attendance looking back to when we were young. If you were late in those days you would not get a seat.
+Mary McDonnell The main reason for the decline in church attendance is the changes that were made after Vatican ll. Most people liked the old Latin mass, if they didn't like it, they could join a different church.
When this pandemic rage is over, I am going to play this hymn as a prelude to a Mass of Thanksgiving, but also a Mass of Penitence. Because we have all had a Tremendous lesson.
@white1whidow Good point. As you say the fact that we understand the world we live in through scientific development, only goes to prove that God is the one true creator of all things. He has given man the intellect to understand and research the world which he created for us and the one we live in.
And Through Our Lord, and the Intercession of Our Beloved Mother, along with the Intercessions of the Saints and Angels, We can be saved. We must insure our Faith is manifested in Good works as well. Seeking for the hope that Our Celestial Father in Father in Heaven, finds them pleasing Him, and that our works, come from our hearts
@white1whidow I quite agree with that, and I love what you say there. There are some critical things said about Catholicism but I know that I have found the faith to bring to me a more real profound belief in Jesus which I did not experience in the Anglican church, and it always seems to be so much more Holy ! I have been told that the rituals are what I like, ! but surely rituals of prayer and responses are strengthening. I am new to the faith so may not be putting this brilliantly !
As an Anglican (C of I) organist, I think the same - It's a good 'Congregational' easy melody hymn of Praise....I'll be playing it too - Loving the vocal descant as well :-) PAX VOBIS.
***** The Roman Catholic church now has AUTHORITY to say Hymns are 'Romish??!'....Hahahaha, you brother, are deluded. If you are talking catholic, which simply means universal, then it is catholic.
Gaggy Mott I'm a Catholic, if there's anything I've learned from my time in the Church is that we freely give the gifts to our Christian brothers without a need to claim ownership of it. Pope Francis said we must be a humble Church, a poor Church - so forgive my brother Mr. Bishop, it does not matter whether this song is Catholic or Baptist so long as it inspires people to Christ.
What is the name of this hymn tune? I love it, and I cannot wait to cancel our parish's subscription to OCP as soon as the new translations come out in the hymnals.
The Spanish Inquisition was a tool of Ferdinand and Isabella, not the Pope. The Catholic Church is the only one that can trace itself back to Jesus himself. He is Lord forever and ever and we, the Church, are his people.
As a Christian, I truly appreciate Catholic hymns. May God bless those who are listening to this
Im a Roman Catholic and im proud to be one!!!!

Beautiful and I love listening to this on the feast day of Christ the King! How truly blessed we are to be part of His church
Beautiful! I love this Catholic hymn. 🩷💜❤️ Praise be to God. Amen
Until now, I never realized how beautiful many of these hymns really are. This is definitely one of my favorites.
This was played at Mass tonight and I broke down in tears as it was my dad's favourite hymn and played at his funeral 3 years ago 💔
im new to all the traditional catholic church and I love it! Thank you so much! I wish the parishes I attend had choirs like this!
Well said, this hymn is so beautiful, its like being in Heaven--- its very true that singing a hymn is praying x twice !!!

This never gets old.
Beautiful Hymn!
This is one of our recessional hymns after our Sunday Traditional Mass of the Latin Rite Pre-55.
Long live the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

I am a home-bound Catholic, CFP, and this was a suggested hymn for the Office Of Readings in today's Liturgy Of The Hours.
sang this meany years ago at lancster cathedral in the uk it was fab to sing with organ
Takes me back to my school days
O Holy Trinity one God have mercy upon us and upon all the Churches.

come to Holy Mother Church !
We had this hymn today in St Nicholas of Myra Church in Brighton. I love the unusual harmonies in line 2 of each verse.
The older I get the more and more I love the sound of well played Pipe organ. The organ as well as te singers sound absloutly wonderful!

Bro, I love you're videos, keep up the great work, and may God bless you. Peace.
@lippertism Well said, and I do so agree with you - I was Confirmed into the Catholic Curch at Easter, and it was wonderful !
ROMAN CATHOLIC IS THE ONLY ONE TRUE CHURCH GIVEN BY CHRIST TO PETER
Truly a Beautiful Hymn. More so for The Sound Theology and Splendid melody.
I love this song,thank you
A great hymn, indeed! This can and should be sung in Lutheran liturgies as well! Thanks for sharing this. Soli Deo Gloria!
No, sorry but it does not have any place in a Lutheran building.
I just adore this hymn, it's a fantastic tune !
We thank You Lord God for this grace in which we stand, grace to keep Thy Ten Commandments. O Holy trinity one God have mercy upon us and upon all the Churches and the whole wide world.
VIVA CRISTO REY! VIVA!
(LONG LIVE CHRIST THE KING!
LONG LIVE!)
Awhile ago a small group was planning a virtual celebration of a feast day. I suggested the feast of Christ the King and this hymn as part of the mass liturgy for this feast. It would be an introduction of a mainly Irish hymn very suitable.
Thank you MJ. I really enjoy hearing from you, and I share these with Gaby. :)
And this song is Beautifull
That is a GORGEOUS hymn tune! Too bad we Americans don't get that in our Catholic hymnals. I'm jealous! ;)
BMP
beautful
Thanks for the good music.
A wonderful Hymnal! Stat crux dum volvitur orbis.

My favourite all time hymn! Serving for Vespers, procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction as a kid!
I've begun think that is a special hymn for Good Friday. It encompassed much on this Catholic/Christian Day, Good Friday. "King of Love on Calvary".
+mary jane Prouty No, it is the hymn for Christ the King, if a vernacular hymn has to be sung at Mass.......
The more traditional observances of good Friday had no singing so this old hymn was not made for good Frday. it could be used during lent maybe?
Yes, one could use it for Lent V or perhaps Palm Sunday. But certainly not on Good Friday. There should not be hymns on Good Friday at all. Unfortunately in recent years they have crept in....................
it is for any time well used in uk on palm sunday and feast of christ the king
hymns may be used on good friday organ was not used some years ago but now anythink goes to some degree
Highly inspiring hym
Please pray for Poll Meyer needing financial miracle today 🙏🙏
Nice Song...God Bless
Heaven on Earth, I love this !!!!!!!!
I miss the Traditional Mass!!!!!
+Maureen Sullivan So do I Maureen. There is a very noticable fall away from Mass attendance looking back to when we were young. If you were late in those days you would not get a seat.
