Okay, adding eaters of souls/chimeras would've already been pretty cruel considering their unpredictable AI and how easy it is to get swarmed by them, but CORRUPTORS? Now that's just diabolical.
Very cool concept, but I think it would be better if it had some more relation to Don't Starve, like shadow creatures as minions or Winter's Feast colors since you gave it the Winter's Feast laser attack. You could also add something related to the new mutant Deerclops thing
The visuals have certainly improved compared to your previous bosses. The debris not matching its environment is kind of weird, but that is just a nitpick. though I see some issues with the boss's attacks. 1, Attacks that spam a large group of vanilla enemies. The enemy choices didn't even remotely make sense this time around. This actually seems to be a trend with your bosses spawning regular enemies as minions. It wouldn't really be a big deal, but it feels especially off here. 2, While I am a fan of how the attacks are more telegraphed and have improved synergy with each other, I think the use of shadow hands to keep you from getting too far from the boss could use a bit more indication of its own. It is a minor issue, but I could see a lot of people getting hit because they didn't know how far from the boss you are allowed to go. 3, This boss-fight is mean to be its own thing, but I do miss the charm of the original Deerclops encounter Terraria. The huge amounts of red does make it's features stand out less, and it being more like ML is admittedly a bit goofy in the wrong ways.
Mostly just responding to your first point, I didn't really care about making canonical sense with the enemy groups, I just wanted enemies that would compliment the boss' attacks while not being too cancerous to deal with. If I were to give a canonical explanation though, I'd say that all the enemies are illusions created by Deerclops, and not real creatures.
@@portalmech4770 I personally don't see some of these enemies going well with the boss. The demon eyes and Shadowflame apparitions are fair enough, but the demons and corrupts really don't mesh well. Those 2 seem more cheap than anything.

This would be an awesome idea for mastermode! It would be such a jumpscare type experience as you'd just expect the normal variant of the boss, and its already very well made! Excellent work 👍

The only thing I could think of after seeing the title was that line from The Incredibles. I didn't even notice until halfway through the video that Deerclops now has more similarities with the "typical final boss" trope than the actual final boss.
I probably could, but it would take quite a bit of work adapting it to another boss and figuring out how it works, and right now I just don't feel up to that
I liked that the demons were added in the end for some more difficulty. The demon scythe barrage seemed good with the final attacks to spike up the difficulty in the end. :) The boss doesn't need to be related to don't starve. If the boss fight is good, that's what matters. :)
to be honest, not my favourite. Good things first, it looks like a combination with tricky from madness combat, moonlord and rudolph the reindeer. the entrance of deerclops was cool, this unique red eyebeam was fire! bad points its kinda boring, fighting a stand there and take it boss. dodging a few attacks and holdind left click is not thrilling. Btw, where are its legs? and where are its epic shadow claws? Overall 4/10 in my opinion. Still well done job, i am not a programmer nor designer, so i wouldnt know how much it took to get it to your liking. It took a lot of your time. Still better than some other modders i know.
Fron all the red i assume this is related to either the Crimson or the Blood Moons, so it'd be neat if it related to the Corruption on corrupt worlds, or just had more to do with the Blood Moons
I'll try to not echo the same concerns as the other commentors, but I will say that the enemies seem like a pain to deal with. So to possibly mitigate that annoyance, is it possible to have their health lower linearly? I'm not a developer so this might be a pain to implement, but if implemented it could help with the pacing. Cool boss though, and looking forwards to the next video. Cheers!
Can you make the death ray have a hole in it somewhere? I doubt you could jump up that hit without massive preparation or wings Other than that, this is sick! Are you getting custom music for the bosses as well?
I reason that the death ray problem can be pretty easily mitigated with some ropes. The music is actually stolen from another game, you can find a link to the original track in the description

It does remove the main thing about vanilla deerclops that i find enjoyable (though that's fine, I don't think you're trying to keep many bosses similar to their original encounters, aside from small basic ways) and it does seem to be... *very* enemy spammy (seeing the demon part reminds me of Queen Slime which I despise due to their enemy spam and projectile spam from said enemies), but it does look overall fairly good.
why not just completely rework the intire game make it top down comepletly remove the combat system (almost) and add a hunger system? then it would be more accurate to deerclops

Overall good fight, though I see room for improvement. Deerclops' attacks are nice but maybe make them occur a little more frequently (with exception to enemy summoning). A good portion of the fight seems more oriented on killing enemies and dodging their attacks as opposed to Deerclops', despite Deerclops still attacking while enemies are alive. I have already seen criticism in the comments for this so I'll keep it brief. The theming seems off for Deerclops. I normally don't think of red when I see Deerclops. Also, the enemies spawned don't really fit. Maybe ice elementals would fit better as opposed to corruptors or demons. Me personally, I would change the main color scheme from red to blue, though if it makes sense with the direction your mod is going, then keep it.
The boss is mostly about killing the enemies, which is by design. I wanted to branch off of the usual bullet-hell style boss fight and make this one more based around minions. The minions are meant to be the main threat while the boss' attacks are meant to compliment them in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming. With that in mind I'm afraid that making the main boss attack more frequently would make the fight too brutal, even by my standards It's true, the thematic doesn't fit at all with the un-modded Deerclops, but I don't see that as a problem. The original Deerclops fight seemed boring and uninspiring to me, so I just scrapped the entire thing and made something completely different
It actually only depawns its minions when it transitions into a new phase. The laser attack does seem a bit hard, but installing some platforms in the arena would probably trivialize it
@@portalmech4770 Debatable, I much prefer the ambiance, music and visuals of ender lilies but the movement of HK is better than like ender lilies, combat I through between I love the weakness of ender lilies which can then become stronger later but I also love the challenging fights of HK, so I'm gonna call it a draw

This one feels soulless, the attacks are executed pretty well, but they are unoriginal, and perhaps even reused. It seems like you approached this one without knowing what is deerclops and without knowing what to do with him, so you just slapped together a bunch of attacks from your other reworks, made him scary and red, and called it a day
Well you're right about one thing: this rework is nothing like the original Deerclops. I found Deerclops to be a boring and uninspiring boss, so I completely remade it from the ground up. However, doing what you described as slapping together a bunch of attacks from my other works and making him scary and red took a great deal of passion and effort

I like this Deerclops boss! Love the idea of him looming over you. I'd say the only problem i have is the Demon spam attack. I struggle to deal with them even when im just building my hell bridge. He wont do it again if you take your time, right?

all these attacks and stuff are really cool, its just kind of wierd that the eye laser curves for some reason
The funny thing is that I don't actually know how to program a proper laser, so I just made it shoot a continuous stream of separate projectiles
