My grandson and I got to meet your mom at the track, and I can see why you're such a nice young man, she was so sweet and gracious and very supportive of your career. My grandson has followed your racing career since you started.
That place has some LLOOOONNNNNGGGGGG straights. I think anyone going there should/would be a bit intimidated by the sheer speed. You did well grasshopper. First time at such a legendary speed palace. Sure you wanted to do better. You put it back on the trailer in one piece and will run another day. Tanner, Rome wasn't built in a day! Takes time to get things figured out. You got a great team. Scruffy on the wrenches , the rest of the team doin' their thing. I saw Carly there during the intro. A great learning experience. Be like a sponge and soak it ALL in. Shoot , Steve, Sammy, Danny ,Mark, Donnie , all them guys took a while for them to get as good as they did. Be patient my friend. We're rootin' for you and glad for this opportunity to watch you live your dream! Keep on keepin' on!
I say this was a successful night of racing for a driver's first night at the Grove. It is a scary fast and tricky place to get around. I really think you did a very good job! Wheel stands will always get the crowd on your side!
@@raymond3803 Wow! That is really impressive. I don't think that happens often. How long had he been running with the WoO before his first race at the Grove?
@@jerrycoggin9434 Geo had only ran a few outlaw shows (mostly for Roth) at the time of his Grove victory. He was extremely young. Passed David Gravel to do it. Impressive win having never seen the place, much less raced it. Here you go .............. ua-cam.com/video/vUFzBJ4hImo/v-deo.html
Excited that you made it to Williams Grove and get a chance to race against the Posse. Can’t get to the races because of work...but will take off next year in order to see you race and meet you. Been a fan since first seeing you in 2018...
Well Tanner, I was planning on going to see you at Port Royal on Saturday, but it will probably be a rain out. I really hope you travel with the Outlaws again next year. ✌️
Good evening, but need to be wide open in the qualifying effort. Excellent team, Jacob, Shark racing absorb all you can they have great wisdom and knowledge. Let it fly on this next night. No holding back, even if it is not right, push beyond your comfort zone occasionally, like Sharon. Keep Rocking and Racing love your life.
Really really hope you make it back to PA. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make any of these races due to my hand being hit by a mower blade….hope I didn’t miss my chance to watch/meet you. 💯🤙🏼 your doing great tanner with shark racing man. Don’t listen to haters dude let them fuel your fire n passion for racing an dream! 💯🤙🏼👏👍😎
Great track and great race. I'm just wondering if any tracks have ever experimented with a rating system leading up to the A main, that is based on the number of cars passed (positions gained) rather than, or perhas as well as, absolute finishing position. It seems that having passed so many cars in the earlier races, Tanner really deserved to transfer.
There's a few formats used at some tracks special events. Tulare's Trophy Cup uses an inverted heat, dash and main event race format that awards passing everytime the cars hit the track. The Trophy Cup in Tulare is usually the best race in California each year. If you live close to Central California, invest in the 4 day trip and go. To succeed with the Outlaws you have to qualify in the top tier every night. Then you have to pass cars and move forward in your heat race. If you don't move forward in your heat, you just threw away your good qualifying time and your night is pretty much over. If you have to run the B Main. You can kinda save your night with a top 10 in the A Main. As good as Tanner did for his first night at Williams Grove, he didn't qualify well and he didn't move forward to a transfer out of his heat race. Then he didn't move forward enough in the B Main to transfer out of the B into the A Main. As much as it disappoints to do your best and still not be good enough that night, you know what you have to do tomorrow night, qualify in the top tier, pass cars and mover forward to a transfer out of your heat race, then mover forward in the A Main. If you don't do any of those 3 things, you just repeated what you did last night. That's why running with the Outlaws is so hard. You have to be consistently fast every night right off the trailer. It's a brutal schedule and the lows far and away outnumber the highs. Only the very strong survive to become among the best. Time will tell if Tanner and Carly have what it takes to get there. We're all pullin' for both of them to do well on this road. Whatever comes to both of them the next several years, these years will stick with them the rest of their lives. There is nothing more fun then being involved with a sprint car team, the sprint car community and sprint car racing. There's nothing like it. GO T & C
Great first night at The Grove. You did far better than most making their debut at two drag strips, one wide turn, and one scary tight one. You passed more people than anyone else I saw.......
Welcome to Pennsylvania Tanner. I was surprised your mom had 6xl shirts. I got one and a wing panel. Didn't get it signed Friday cause that track was snot. Good luck at port. It is another wide open and on the fence racing. Your mom is so awesome and sweet. I hope that Bobby puts you back in the car for next year. The more wheel time you get the better you and Logan will become. With you and Logan I see champions coming to the shark racing family.
"Shoulda stayed in the groove" been hearing that a lot SOMEWHERE :) keep swinging Tanner. One thing for sure, you guys picked tge right gear. The car is a rocket when you hook in the corners there at the grove
I grew up at that track. My dad had car #50 back in the 60’s 70’s80’s We loved being in the infield watching the racing. Sure miss it n my dad that passed in 2001. Good luck there. The locals are a hard bunch to beat.
Once again not to bad for another first time at a new track for you. It seems to me like you are getting better at adapting to the new tracks a little quicker each time. I think that y'all are doing great. Just curious to know what y'all found to be wrong with the engine? Thank you for sharing this video with us. May y'all keep having a good one and have fun take care
DAMN!! Those straights a so long. Looks like you have time to pull a few tear offs, tighten your belts, grab some wing, adjust your brake bias and then maybe pull a few more tear offs. I'm guessing the pucker factor is pretty high at the end of the straights. I never realized how tight the corners are either. You moved forward in your heat and B main right? That's a positive. Good luck at Port
With the corners being different, from the video footage being shot, it looked like you had it somewhat figured out. The gearing and rev limit would be neutralizing near the end of the straights, the power band of the cam and breathing would or could be saturated enough to dump exit speeds. You looked good though, am sure the wrenches knew every aspect of how to gitter done though. Pulling the wheels on that corner at the end of the heat race relates to some hard hook up which tells me the track had plenty of moisture and you had the gearing . Would have been nice to know what rpm you were turning and speed when that happened. All in all, it appeared to have been a great learning exp. for you and the team as they are feeling you out on different tracks. It was amazing to watch those cars head down those long straights. Every track should have their own personality as does this one. Watching the nascar drivers struggle with certain speedways is a testimony to not all drivers are created equal in the sense of who manages to win at tracks they cannot conquer. If you watch all of the top drivers in this sport, one will see, most have taken a very long time to get there. Few manage stardom right out of the gate. Earned Tanner, not given. Therefore when you achieve your goals you'll have then, the wisdom that the elite have now. It all will come in time.
That's how they got the name outlaws cause they were wide open all the time good 1st nite I knew you would have a little trouble cause that track will bite you

Taking notes is a good habit.don't lose them. They might help you win in a year or two. Your doing good , keep at it.
I was cheering hard on beer hill , both nights ❤

All in all a respectable night for the first time there.
That's a fast track when in perfect condition.
Welcome to the East coast Tanner. We have a lot of tough 1/2 mile and 5/8ths mile tracks.
